I always wondered how much a nurse can make. They studied hard and work hard. They deserve high salary. Good info! Thank you so much!

Hi Jessica, I just came across your video. I'm currently working as a CNA and I just started my first classes in a BSN, RN program here in California. Thanks so much for sharing, but can I please encourage you to post your journey. The money is fine and dandy but I truly have a passion for nursing and would LOVE to hear from your perspective and watch your journey. Much respect!

I worked as a nurse in NYC for years at NYU Langone Medical Center Main Operating Room Unit, we had the highest hourly rates that time in the state. Until I found out about Northern California nurses salary that is crazy high combined with the affordable housings. Now we are living in Sacramento comfortably and never regretted the move.

Hello, i'm interested in becoming a nurse and working in california and i also have a passion for ballet. Do you think it would be possible for me to attend ballet classes as a hobby while also working as a nurse there? Is it something i can afford on a nurses salary since ballet can be expensive? Please let me know if you can, thank you.

That's pretty good. I didn't realize NY started so low, though! I started with $47+4 (night differential) as a new grad, in MedSurg at a level 2 hospital, in Los Angeles in 2016. How is it not having mandated ratios though? Our icu is 2 max, yours could be what ever they feel like union or not... California is a much better state for nursing.

Wow I'm so glad that I saw your comment. A hospital in LA was offering me $42/hr base rate for 2 yr of experience in CVICU, granted I didn't negotiate. I'm glad I turned down the offer because I was unsure about the pay cut and increased cost of living.

Hi! I'm an RN in California and seriously considering moving to NY. I know that if I ever do make the move, living in Manhattan will be a no-no especially if I decide to be a staff nurse. Can you talk about your living situation and how to survive living on a budget in NYC? Thank you!

i dont think many RN's live in nyc, unless they are running two jobs...or have a side hustle... you can find affortable housing in Queens and possibly the bronx..and commute using the public transit....most people went to school in nyc that way anyways...but with income tax, nyc, nys, federal, property tax....property taxes are no joke in ny...unless you live in queens,,,taxes are cheaper but real estate is NOT affortable...1.2million for a single family house...so with this OP she made 50 dollars, which equate to about 5-6k month...you cut that to 4k after taxes....that is NOT a lot for anything....studios go for minimum 1.5k a month...car is 700-800 with insurance...just do the math...not a lavish life.

$50 is too,too low for hourly wage for a Nurse. Should be at least $100/hr with these inflation prices. Long working hours and sacrifices away from family should justify the reason of pay rate.

I'm a waitress currently at a really popular diner, 2 hours from NYC and I do make great money while I'm in college, (I average all together making 25-30 an hour, depending on the day), so yeah, servers can make great money with NO education. But nurses, of course they make more, they're educated!
