Exactly this. I’ve heard it’s from the way the tiles were designed to be perpendicular to the stairs instead of the ground that causes the disorientation. Whoever designed it like that is sick in the head.
@@lisamariebasile2685 Several minutes. Had a guy ask if I needed help. I admit I need to lose some weight-and I have, but those things at that angle are not meant to be WALKED UP. I proceeded to collapse-sit once i was up there. I told my friend to go on, I'd meet him across the street at NYCC once my heart rate hit double digits down from about 150.
That looks very similar to some new stations on London's Underground. The escalator at Angel is the longest, rising over 89 feet and they're over 200ft long. the only difference is (apart from the train cars, obviously) the stations in London are platforms in their own separate tube tunnels but here you have a large island platform in large space. Looks nice though. I 'll definitely have to visit NYC at some point in the future.
going down is THE WORST. I was HIGH AF 🍃 one day & my friend knew about it but she didnt tell me. i tripped out but i made it down cause i had my eyes closed
When I went on these it almost reminded me of the escalators at Universal Studios Hollywood when you're going from the upper lot to lower lot and vise versa, only that place has like 4 of them.
Had to go to Hudson Yards to get both my COVID vaccines. Going up was okay but going down I held onto the railing and tried to turn my body sideways so I didn't feel like I was going to fall as much.
Going down was fine. Because I thought if I fell It would be a great slide. Going up I was scared that someone would push me or that my clumsy self would fall
2021 I went on this and it was broken. Do you know what it's like walking up this thing? Freddy Kruger wishes he could give me nightmares compared to this.
Even with people on it this is a liminal space. There’s never been a time I haven’t felt unsettled on that. Also the elevator, it follows the same path.
Whoever designed the escalator aesthetic was sick in the head, I've had the displeasure of going down this and felt so dizzy. The first time that's ever happened to me.
Interesting, in how vacant this escalator is, for a New York subway (this is New York, right? Shows how little I know). Pee Cee, were you using the GX85 as seen in your other videos? And what was the lens? Very sharp, and good to see not only your tips for photography, but your day-in-the-life type clips.
Hi Stan, I was using the gx85 + 12-32mm kit lens. It was a perfect morning with overcast sky. Usually the images came out sharper with cloudy or after-rain skies in this case the terminal was well lit. For sharper processed video images, I always output the 4k, mp4 files with higher bitrate and quality. The file size would be greater, 17gig for this video, but UA-cam did interpret it nicely. It was 8:30 Saturday morning. that's why looked empty and probably people party late Friday night in that yuppie neighborhood. Thanks for the kind words.
I failed to mention that the image quality on this camera seems to be sharper and nicer under LED lightings than fluorescent lightings. Also, all the wide-angle shots were using the Yi4k action cam.
The Funicular Elevator (just past the escalators) is a "horizontal" elevator----but it actually moves in an incline. It is pretty radical and an amusing ride.
As a person with severe height phobia, going at it for the first time neither was i ready for this nor could i fathom how it would feel like if u miss one step you'd fall like 5 floors, fucc
The designers oriented the tiles to be perpendicular to the stairs instead of perpendicular to the ground. This makes riders feel as if they are moving flat like on a moving side walk and that everybody else is either leaning forward or back. Its weird and scary!
@@strangelman If you ever get the chance to ride this particular one, it will feel like you’re standing at a diagonal (leaning forward/backward) depending on which way you go instead of standing straight up like you would on a normal escalator. The cause of this is because the diagonal placement of the tile walls tricks your brain into thinking you’re not standing straight, which gives you the feeling that you’re about to fall. The first time I rode it, I held very lightly onto the railing because I thought I was trippin
That escalator is terrifying .....It has to be like 3 stories all the way down . If you fell down from the top you wouldn't make it
Actually it's 10 stories. It's insane!
@@jacobg492 How do you know this?
Actually it’s 17 stories
It plays with your mind so much. I instantly feel dizzy and like my brain can’t determine if I’m going up or flat or down.
Same!!!
Exactly this. I’ve heard it’s from the way the tiles were designed to be perpendicular to the stairs instead of the ground that causes the disorientation. Whoever designed it like that is sick in the head.
its so long when you look up you feel like you are looking down. bruh that roller coaster shot you did was crazy.
I went on that today and I felt so scared and I felt like I was going to fall
Almost had a damn panic attack on this thing... Smh.
I had to WALK up this fucking thing cause it was broken. I nearly collapsed.
Omg! How long did it take you???

Dude same here. My knees were shaking by the time I got off. They really need to have a warning sign for it.
My first time in this station I was trying to rush to make my Mega Bus and I thought that I could run up the escalator. Yeah no!!
😂😂😂
I felt like I was going to fall when I went there

I just went down this escalator a minute ago. Never again.
never ever in my life was i scared from heights....but this fucking escalator made me feel like i was about to faint

I was so high too and had no idea it was gonna happen. I felt so fucked up and like I was stuck in a liminal hell

Really? I'm never going there
YES! OMG I felt like I was at 6 Flags!!!
Indeeed
I climbed the stairs carrying a loaded hanging bag and barely made it to the top. Absolutely brutal climb.
I was there 😆felt great. If you keep looking to the end of the tunnel you feel like you don't know if you're going up or down 😮
It becomes like those Escher drawings lol weird feeling

Actuelly rode those today and that was cooool af
I'm hoping the northern entrance of the station to finally open by October 2018 (when New York Comic-Con arrives).
Aliens made that escalator lol
Super creepy to ride

It’s the worst. Took the elevator which is almost like a tram.
If the problem is entirely visual, can't people just close their eyes while on it?

Did you ride the funicular? That always cracks me up at the Hudson Yards station. Always good to have restrooms at the subway station too.
what's funicular? I was rushing through the terminal did not look around.

thanks. just saw Nathan riding it.
its incline elevator - they are located in next shaft (there is two shafts) one is escalator only and other has elevator and one escalator
Imagine being top on the wtc I was tripped out up there
I wonder if anybody fell down from here?
I want to see Donnie and Melania on THIS elevator...and he thought that little ramp he tottered down was hard!
You should see some of the escalators in Washington's Metro. Dupont Circle is deep. I think the next one out is Woodley Park- Zoo, even worse.
Wheaton is the WORST ua-cam.com/video/-siHMzuqNRk/v-deo.html
I did it once.....light headed could have passed out

They stopped working a few days ago.
i went to the one at wanstead it was scarey like why do they put stuff like this theres a 76% chance anyone could fall
This is scary; not enough safety 😮😢
