Erra is the BEST band doing it in metalcore. They have changed the game. Their self titled album is full of gems.

Thanks Geebz, I had a bad morning leaving me homeless for a few days (sleeping in a packed car in a safe place and I have access to power and a shower, it could be much worse). But this track and your positive energy helped lift me out of the slumps this morning!
You were asking if they had 2 singers and you were right! The clean singer is actually the lead guitarist, it's really impressive to watch him sing while playing these complex riffs. If you're taking requests for your next ERRA track, I'd recommend Breach, Hybrid Earth, Skyline, Luminesce, Monolith, Rebirth or Nigh to Silence. Of course any track you choose is a great track, but those are my personal favorites. I'm still here!

Yes Yes Yes! Erra is an incredibly talented band. They just released a cover of "Stockholm Syndrome" by Muse, a dual reaction to see the difference in performances would be a really intriguing idea for video

Awesome, Geebz you finally got around to Erra. I love that there is two vocalists in this band. I think it’s called antiphony when you have two divergent vocal lines like that. Please checkout Breach or Snowblood next. Also checkout Saosin because they had a big influence on the clean vocals, who is Jesse Cash who’s also the lead guitar player, of this band.

Finally! This band is pushing modern metalcore forward imo: guitar playing especially. Anything from the new self-titled is worth reacting but be sure to go back to their augment days because I would say that wad their best before their last release. Would love to see you get back to more prog bands you've reacted to before like thank you scientist, haken, vola, tesseract, caligula's horse, cynic... Love the channel geebz
I received this album in a Sumerian "mystery pack" and was blown away. I can't believe I hadn't heard of them before, but definitely a fan now.

I cant believe no one's recommending Dementia or Snowblood by ERRA, two amazing songs that deserve to be listened to.

@@DM72513 well the goal of a cover song isn't to improve on the original. It's to make it uniquely your own version while studying true to the original song. In my eyes they made the most ERRA version of that song and that's why it's a good cover
Wasn't really a fan either. Their Queens of the Stone Age cover is much better imo
1. The intro has delay and reverb to add ambiance but it's all tapped guitar, no trickery to get that sound.
2. There are two vocalists, the harsh singer JT who does sing on occasion and the clean singer Jesse in the higher range.
Also, cause I'm sure you'll get a lot of it now, I'll be the first to suggest Scorpion Hymn off their latest album. They're really channeling their inner Meshuggah in that one.

One of my favourite bands ever, and Drift is IMO their best album. But there are other songs from it that deserve more appreciation than Drift itself. The Hypnotist is THE masterpiece.

Favorite Erra song overall is an older one though - Dreamcatcher.
@@rojobandito629 Dreamcatcher is a great song. But I find JT a better and more versatile vocalist, hence I prefer the recent albums. Also Drift is probably their most melodic work, and the whole musical concept and those dreamy riffs are just on another level IMO.
@@haereticus Yep, Drift is my favorite album of theirs! Really cool theme and sound like you said. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get into either of two albums that came after. They just haven’t clicked with me, even though I like JT as a vocalist (more in Texas In July though)
@@rojobandito629 Hmm, Neon is a cool concept too, but musically is probably their worst album (even though is still enjoyable). ERRA is overall heavier than the previous ones. On the technical side it's just a masterpiece. They did experiment musically and the lyrics are more introspective than their previous work. It's a very valid album and personally my second favourite, even if some riffs from it are superior to any other of their production. Give it another chance. Maybe listen to it in pieces: Lunar Halo - Vanish Canvas - Eidolon are the bestest from the album.
This is one of the albums I can listen through start to finish as one track and not lose interest one time
It's hard to pick for me personally, but I think Divisionary by Erra has got to be my favorite song. I can listen to their albums on repeat all day. Please do more songs, Geebz!

to add to the flood of erra song suggestions, "vanish canvas" is undoubtedly my favorite song of all time. its a little different from this one, but i think youll like it too.

I’ve been watching some of your videos and I gotta say you got the most interesting and entertaining reaction videos I’ve come across.

This is actually the first time hearing these guys and judging by that song they def. Have some serious talent.
I’m an old school guitar centered thrash maniac, got my first couple 8-tracks in 1978 when I was 9 years old, Billion Dollar Babies and Sabbath’s debut album, so I guess I’m and old dude too lol.
You should check out a band called Avatar, very talented musicians and phenomenal songwriters, I see your a little partial to the production side, the attention to detail, and that’s Avatar, they are very committed to their craft, and you can hear it in their music, very detailed and cohesive songs, intricate and complex layered soundscapes, and very good at creating something I’m very partial to, rich melodies throughout.
Wow, I apologize for rambling on here lol, you prob. Won’t even make it this far, but I have to tell you they are pretty theatrical, costumes and painted faces, which I soon realized Avatar is the only band (not counting Alice Cooper, because c’mon, it’s Alice lol!) I listen to who does that, but these guys, in my opinion are no joke, every member is a master of his instrument, the 2 guitarists are both just insanely talented. But anyway, thanks for posting these videos, keep up the great work.

Do yourself a favors and check out the album Augment. Their first 2 albums they have a different screamer. Rebirth is my favorite song on Augment.

What an awesome thing to watch , it's fascinating for me to listen to someone's first experience (who actually respects the art) of the bands I listen to. Erra has had a special place in my heart , I remember when this album dropped and I heard this song the first time , I was truly overwhelmed and honestly brought to tears from that outro.. you nailed it on the head , ethereal. Erra has a new album out and I'd highly encourage you and anyone else who reads this comment to give it a front to back listen , and strap in because... wow is it a gem

If you liked this, you really need to listen to Skyline by ERRA and Breach by Erra. I believe both are on the same album as Drift. So many amazing guitar/scale runs. You'd love it.

I'm sure you already have a ton of requests, and I agree that mostly any song on their new album is great (e.g., Gungrave, Snowblood, Vanish Canvas) and their new single that just came out (Nigh to Silence) is AMAZING! You can't go wrong with them.

You can never go wrong with Erra. They're one of those bands that have been great from the start yet keep pushing themselves with every release and consistently get better. You should check out Vanish Canvas or Shadow Autonomous, both songs are off their most recent album.

I'm so glad you covered this, I feel like while their new self titled album is the peak of their work and they've done nothing but improve, I feel that Drift is quintessential ERRA. The whole point of this album is to make your mind drift, in the ethereal tones and lilting melodies, they've spoken on it a few times. I'd love to see you tackle Divisionary by them, you get to watch Jesse shred some truly amazing finger tapping while effortlessly demolishing the clean vocals. So glad you finally got some exposure to these guys, I think they're one of the greatest musicians of our era! I'm still here!
I only recently found out about ERRA, and have thoroughly enjoyed their entire discography. This is a great first choice, mine was their cover of Stockholm Syndrome (the only muse song I think you've done), which is absolutely killer.

Never doubted you or your knowledge. It definitely came through strong on this one. I have listened to Erra since the beginning and music like this in general. This was absolutely a fantastic reaction. So glad it was drift too.
Also, Jessie cash the guitarist/singer is probably one of the best musicians in modern metal.

One of my favorite bands for sure, everything they've released this far is great. Some real Tool, Contortionist and Meshuggah vibes in the riffing in their later work aswell which I love. They really nail the crushing musicianship with great hooks and choruses and have always been great at that!
Jessie being able to sing like that and shred these complex riffs never gets old and JT is one of my favorite heavy vocalists in progressive metalcore for sure.
8 years after this album came out, I could still listen to that solo at the end go on for HOURS
definitely recommend listening to more of them. ERRA all around is so talented. A band that truly makes you feel some emotions with their music.

This one and album is one of my deepest soul churrning emotional gravitating releases ever. An experience of our deepest darkest emotional tramuas, out minds drifting away into ourselves and an abyss of sorrow and freedom. It captures the essence of euphoric soulful escape and dreamy wonder. top band for me as well. Great analysis, reaction and passion for music. Proud of you. Keep it up. Check out sleeper and frostbite by them and under a glass moon by dream theater.

This track was never one of my favorites from the band, but I'm going to have to go back and re-examine it now after hearing you dissect it and rave about it. You know way more than I ever will and I respect your opinions so I'm going to put this album on this afternoon and try to really just rinse in it and see if it clicks.

I love this song so much.
The first time my wife saw them live she had never heard this song or anything from them for that matter, but she has been to a ton of metal shows.
Anyway they had an issue getting set up or something and there was a lot of time between them and the previous band. They opened up their setlist with this song and we're sitting there sorta grooving to the intro and then that first BOOM and scream hits and she nearly shit her pants she was so caught off guard.
Definitely do more ERRA I know you love Periphery and those are my two favourite bands.

If you're looking for another ERRA song to check out, Monolith is my favorite.
Also, another band to check out is Morphide. 2 person duo, female fronted modern prog metal based in Denmark. They've only got a few original tracks (that are killer) but they also do a ton of UA-cam covers (including ERRA songs). They're fantastic and one of my favorites right now. Would love for you to show them some love. I recommend starting with either Akeneo, Aftermath, or Panopticon if you dive in.
