I love how you always put emphasis on the fact that everything doesn’t always have to be Pinterest worthy. For so long I felt like that pressure was something I was doing to myself...but I realized my kids don’t care, they’re happy, and there’s so much to be thankful for, like the fact that I have a home to even decorate, etc. I’ve definitely been able to find contentment in what I have and I’m thankful that the Lord has blessed us even with the little things!
*Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I decluttered and organized our homeschool space and books! To say thanks for all the love I'm giving away two $50 Amazon gift cards this week! Just comment with **#BACKTOFALL** and your favorite autumn-themed emoji!* 🍁🍂☕🎃🏉🌾🍎🦃🌰
As a retired K-5 teacher may I say your refreshed home school center is awesome!!! I think that you've thought of everything. Interest-based learning is the key 🍎
Pro tip with the bookcase situation: Heavy things around the house like big candles make great book ends! I often just look around my house for small heavy things I can prop books with. Though maybe you’d need to adapt for kids!
Growing up, my mom always made our play dough from scratch at home! It was a fun activity for me as a kid to help her and then super rewarding when I finally got to play with it! It is also safe for any accidental consumption lol
We do call things “consumables” in education when we use them up: workbooks, certain supplies, like play-doh, too! Your new shelf looks great! I just put my classroom back together. School starts on Monday for us.
🍎 hello from a homeschooling mama of a 7 and 3 year old in Illinois (who also plays piano, sings, and lives a mindful and minimal life). I appreciate your channel so much. I consider you a friend and sister in Christ and wish you and your family blessing upon blessings!
I don't miss school work and glad my kids are grown and gone. Helping them with homework took hours after I worked 8 hours and went to college fulltime
I totally recommend putting your seasonal books in with your seasonal decor. My kids love rereading the same books every year! It really makes decor time special for them too.
🍎I love and enjoy both decluttering and organizing. I'm a cricket and I'm borderline OCD so I thrive on everything being in order and decluttering makes that so much easier to accomplish.
🍎 Hello! My oldest starts school this year. I'm homeschooling him, but this mama has been having a hard time wraping my brain, and heart around the fact that my baby is starting school 🥲 I also know that our routine has to change to accommodate that. This will be a learning curve for me also!
That was me last year with my eldest starting homeschool in kindergarten. I can tell you it’s been such a joy to watch him learn and grow and to get my littles involved too. It’s feels like the natural extension of being a stay at home mama to pour into my children through schooling at home! It’s been a gift from the Lord! We just started first grade today! Enjoy your first year!
🍎 books are one of the hardest things for me to declutter! I need to get a good rotation down for them! We also use a buffet for our school supplies! It was a game changer with small kids 😅
🍎Fellow homeschool mom here 🙋🏻♀️ Last year when lots of people were deciding to homeschool the first time and toms of cute, picture perfect' "school room setups" were going around and the mama bear in me came out! If that's the kind of thing you love to do, do it! But honestly all our supplies are in a buffet behind our kitchen table and a 3 drawer cart in a closet. It doesn't have to be fancy and I didn't want anyone feeling that extra pressure in a time that was already hard.
I am not a natural organizer. I usually procrastinate mostly because I know it’s going to take up a lot if my headspace and brainpower. But when I do it I rock it. Obviously UA-camrs like you and minimal mom inspire a lot to get things rolling. Keep doing the great work! Keep inspiring us!
🍎 love back to school. I have a set of those vintage school books. My grandmother used them when she was in school. Back to school and preparing is so part of life our lives. I have a 16 and 21 year old. As my college age daughter is preparing so is teen son who has cleaned his room, purged clothes and last night purged his desk in his room in preparation for a homework station and any virtual school. All I did was asked him to bring me his jeans that he can't wear so we knew what shopping to do and he got started 😅
My kids love sketchbooks! They on the number 3 now. It's great idea to contain all the work and we keep them because it's nice to look back and see the progress.
Omg I am the same way! I find it easy to declutter but organizing takes so much thought. I think it’s the endless possibilities and not knowing where is best to put everything.
🍎 i so agree about cube unit storage, just too deep for most of our needs. Your new cabinet looks great and functional. I realized while watching Hot Mess House that I much prefer the visual simplicity of closed doors with just a few things on display. #backtofall
I’m definitely an organizer! I love doing and redoing until I’m totally satisfied. I do this with all the rooms in my house….but my favorite room/stuff to organize is my sewing & quilting room. When I organize it gets my creativity flowing. Thanks for showing us how you keep your family’s life focused and organized👍🏻
🍎 looks great! Thanks for the motivation! I’m about to star homeschooling my oldest and this video is helpful for thinking through how I want to organize for myself this year!
Loved this! We don't home school and our schools just finished for the year last week but my little girl and I went and spent an hour in a local book shop yesterday and she picked 2 new books to bring home and treasure. It's such a magical feeling shop...maybe I'll try and capture it in one of my daily vlogs when we go back. 📚 There's nothing like having good quality books at home to enjoy and learn from. We mix it up between buying and using the library or the house would be overflowing! 🤣
🍎 I have so enjoyed watching your videos! It has really changed my life! I use to think that I had to have everything “Pinterest “ worthy and I would get so overwhelmed! I have heard you say many times progress over perfection and it has helped so much!
I have two cube units. I use one as a tv stand with books, remotes, puzzles, and back massager in it. The other is sort of a breakfast nook and kids kitchen station with napkins and fabric wipes on top. My son can "cook" while I work in the kitchen. Some things are in cube bins (best suited item is the back massager because it's the only thing in that bin). Some things are in smaller containers (e.g., remotes and play food). Some things are fully visible (cereal and oats, books, fruit bowl).
You can get creative with all kinds of containers. Some of my favorite storage baskets are ones I bought peaches or apples in at fruit stands or the farmers market. They hold a lot and have handles and I have ones in both traditional wood and white plastic. They’re great for storing packages of things (like whisps or dried fruit) upright in your pantry.
🍎I loved watching this video even though I don't have children. It's fun to see the joy you have interacting with your little ones. And the books! Such fun a as I'm a reader at heart(which explains the super thick lenses in my eyeglass frames!). I also really appreciate the way you end you videos. It is well with my soul too! Thanks for all you do.
I have adored watching all your videos since you were pregnant with the boys, my son is going to be 2 on the 13th of August and I have learnt so much from you. 🍎🍎🍎
🍎 I've been homeschooling for nine years now with my oldest and seven with my youngest. I love it. Just started our first day back today. This was me last night getting everything ready. 🍎🤗
My oldest is 7! Excited to be on this homeschool journey + find other moms with younger kids. I haven’t followed your channel so it’s fun to find a momma with similar age kids! 🍎
The random sock!🤣🤷♀️ Love that you use what you already have and "shop" your house first! This is BRILLIANT and we do because we've continued to removed excess that frees them up and saves $. Double win. #BACKTOFALL 🎃🍂🍁
Hello Natalie i hope your doing well and i just want to wish you and your family a Happy and blessed Monday and i pray that God will help you to let your channel grow 😊
Always been a good organiser, but always prepared to try new things to try and find what works for us. The cube unit for the kids clothes works well to keep it together, same with the kids toys. But the more I declutter, the more I find our style. Decluttering is getting easier. I find I’m less emotionally attached to things, but clothes is a hard one. I’m currently pregnant, so have bags of clothes put aside for after pregnancy, to see if still fits and go from there.
Hi from NY!!! I’m so excited about this series!!! Yay for homeschool! Yay for fall!! I just finished decluttering my homeschool room - 😅 I have 4 homeschoolers - 10th,9th/10th, 6th,3rd! Love the life I live!!!
I love to organize! I was a homeschooling mom for 12 years, so this brings back memories. I teach preschool now so I am still constantly organizing my teaching materials. 😁 #BACKTOFALL 🍎
I like those file holders you showed. I've been trying to come up with a solution to my bulky filing cabinet, and those are so simple. I might need to run to target soon lol
🍎 #BACKTOFALL 🍁 I'm in Texas and love the changing of the colors on the tree. Yes to a before school declutter. I go through my kids every summer and they are in high school now. It helps to see why they still want and what do they need. They are the ones that made me minimalist. All their clothes are hung up in the closet. It helps them get ready faster we prep every night for the next day.
#BACKTOFALL 🍁 Why have I never thought of giving each kid a sketchbook?! Genius idea to help cut down on all the little scraps of paper floating around!
Looks great! Always a more rewarding time for learning when things are accessible! And when those fun creative messes occur.. easily put to rights! 👍🏻❤️😄
🍎I like how you differentiate between de cluttering and organizing. I feel like I can naturally both, although I have to be more intentional with decluttering. However, the more I have practiced it the more second nature it is becoming. Happy Back to Home School to You!
I feel like you an old friend (been watching your videos for a long time) and I love these ideas and watching you get creative and transform your space! So excited to homeschool!
I am a declutter person and little organiser..trying to be better in organizing…my mother recently gave me a book called Better homes and gardens get organised! Love reading it so far…
Never heard of Brambly Hedge. We love, love, love those treasuries. Robert McCloskey and Virginia Burton have good ones too. And Frances is a hoot! We have those on audio and the narrator is fabulous!
Oh-and Frog and Toad. What is childhood without Frog and Toad! Arnold Lobel reads the audiobook and it’s also worth checking out from the library or adding to your Audible collection.
🍎 taking ideas to get ready for my 8 year old niece. Here in Puerto Rico some school are close because of the pandemic and my niece is taking classes thru the internet. So I am babysitting her a few days a week and I like to have evert thing nice and set. 😊
🍎I love your channel! When I started going the minimalist route I could not find anything that matched what I wanted (specifically family minimalism that didn't have so many "rules"). Would have loved your channel from the beginning! Thank you for sharing your journey!
I like those black file-bins you have on the bottom left shelf inside the new unit. I have similar ones from Thirty-One. Some are situated the same way you have them, to be able to fold files & such. But I also found that they work really well if you stand them up on the end & stand up books & binders in them; it keeps them from falling over when you have to remove one or 2 things.
🍎 I enjoy decluttering much more than organizing, however I think I’m beginning to understand organization much more than I used to so it’s getting easier 😌
Also, so excited for your fall themed videos. I love when you do the coffee recipes. It gets me in the mood for my coffee for fall. You give such warm cozy vibes.
Put dried out playdough in a baggie with a small amount of water, knead it a bit and let it sit for a few days, kneading it a few times. That re hydrates it and saves money (especially with a 3yo that still mixes colors!)
🍎 Hi Natalie! I am your regular viewer and love love your videos. I must say so much practical and relatable they are plus ur voice is so calming and your video edit is so soothing to watch. I have a similar cabinet for gathering extra dishes inside and to catch some extra stationary here and there in my small dining area cum kid’s study area. You rock as always! Look forward to your new videos always! Love!
#BACKTOFALL 🍁🍎 I do not have kids but I really enjoy your videos because I babysits my 8 years old niece and I love to have everything organice and ready for her to study and play. I really love this video about back to school. Here in Puerto Rico some school still close and my niece is taking classes thru the internet. I babysit her a few days a week and I like to have all the school and craft supplies organice and ready no create. ♥️ love your channel! Thank you for sharing.
Natural organizer, but decluttering is harder for me. I see a "use" for most everything, so hard to get rid of things. #BACKTOFALL 🍁🍂

Pro tip with the bookcase situation: Heavy things around the house like big candles make great book ends! I often just look around my house for small heavy things I can prop books with. Though maybe you’d need to adapt for kids!
I was thinking this too. Small pots, rocks I've collected, heavy statues...
For sure! I do the same thing! ❤️
I use Vaseline tub ..lol if I can’t find anything
Growing up, my mom always made our play dough from scratch at home! It was a fun activity for me as a kid to help her and then super rewarding when I finally got to play with it! It is also safe for any accidental consumption lol
Oh my mum made our own play dough too! We loved it! 😃
I laughed so hard when you found your brother’s sock! Just yesterday I found a long bright blue sock that none of us knew where it came from! Lol 😂
🍎 I've never home schooled my kids (now adults) so bless you for all you do for your kiddos. 💜
I love your new cupboard! I MUCH prefer closed shelves to soft, pullout, deep cubes!
We do call things “consumables” in education when we use them up: workbooks, certain supplies, like play-doh, too! Your new shelf looks great! I just put my classroom back together. School starts on Monday for us.

I can declutter and organize like a pro, but struggle with cleaning regularly. Good thing hubby does his share! Getting better year by year 👍
I LOVE the "My First Little House" books. They are so sweet and reflect on a simpler time. Plus, as you said, the illustrations are the best!
I totally recommend putting your seasonal books in with your seasonal decor. My kids love rereading the same books every year! It really makes decor time special for them too.
I explained this in the video! It just doesn't work for us!
🍎I love and enjoy both decluttering and organizing. I'm a cricket and I'm borderline OCD so I thrive on everything being in order and decluttering makes that so much easier to accomplish.
Looks so much more functional. What about the cube unit on it’s side for books?

Enjoy your first year!
Read lots of good books and let him play! Life is school! Enjoy.
Natural organizer and I am loving the decluttering I am doing! My house is starting to become the home I long for.
Putting your books stacked horizontally would make it more like decor.
🍎 books are one of the hardest things for me to declutter! I need to get a good rotation down for them! We also use a buffet for our school supplies! It was a game changer with small kids 😅

Oh i miss school time with my kids. I am so lucky that my grandson loves learning and we do his homework with him when we have him at the weekend 🍎❤
I feel like I’m a great organizer. I love organizing thing and making things have a curtain place to be.🍎
🍎 I’m watching bc I’m an online teacher now (taught elementary for 29 years), and I really need to declutter and organize! Thanks!
My kids love sketchbooks! They on the number 3 now. It's great idea to contain all the work and we keep them because it's nice to look back and see the progress.

Hi! 🍎 I’ve got an almost 3 year old who is showing signs of being ready for some sit down learning. I’m loving simple learning ideas for her.

Love the sense of humor that you always keep close to the surface on your journey. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the inspiration 🍎🍎
Organizing is the fun part for me, I'm much better at it than decluttering. I also prefer hidden storage. The new set up looks great!
I do like the new cabinet -- especially with all the doors right there, the cubes just added to the eye clutter. Great job!!!
I enjoy watching homeschool videos (esp organizational ones!) even though my last year homeschooling was about 14 years ago.
Me too lol!
🍎 so excited for you and the new furniture, hope it works out!
Looks amazing 😍 love the little felt containers for the crayons etc! Functional and they look nice too 🙌
4:25 I really like this closed door buffet to hide all the homeschool things. 👌
I love your videos!!! Thank you for your kindness !! Blessings!!!

#BACKTOFALL 🍂 I just did a homeschool declutter, and it feels so much better in our space!
Yes! That library bin I showed in the video was an old produce bin!
Just lay the 4 smallest books on the top shelf on their backs with the spine out so you can read them. They will serve as a bookend. Great Video!
So helpful! I love getting into the school spirit with these videos every year!! 🍎🍏🍎🍏
She is the best inspiration for downtime.
I no longer get into distractions and start organizing, decluttering my stuffs. It's awesome. Thanks, mate
🍎 I've been homeschooling for nine years now with my oldest and seven with my youngest. I love it. Just started our first day back today. This was me last night getting everything ready. 🍎🤗
Your home school area turned out really good. Happy next school year🍎
My oldest is 7! Excited to be on this homeschool journey + find other moms with younger kids. I haven’t followed your channel so it’s fun to find a momma with similar age kids! 🍎
🍎
I’ve got another year before he starts school but I’m already starting to think about supplies and routines. Love your videos!
The random sock!🤣🤷♀️ Love that you use what you already have and "shop" your house first! This is BRILLIANT and we do because we've continued to removed excess that frees them up and saves $. Double win.

Hello Natalie i hope your doing well and i just want to wish you and your family a Happy and blessed Monday and i pray that God will help you to let your channel grow 😊
My parents got a set of Bible story books for me and I have memories of my mother reading them to me. I still have them.
#BACKTOFALL 🍂 Fall is my favorite season❤️
Always been a good organiser, but always prepared to try new things to try and find what works for us. The cube unit for the kids clothes works well to keep it together, same with the kids toys. But the more I declutter, the more I find our style.
Decluttering is getting easier. I find I’m less emotionally attached to things, but clothes is a hard one. I’m currently pregnant, so have bags of clothes put aside for after pregnancy, to see if still fits and go from there.

You are such a beautiful person in every way. I hope I once will be a super-mum like you are 🦸🏻🍎
So excited for your "back to fall" series!! 🌻
Yes to bookends/heavy items. You could get a long piece of wood and stain it and attach it on the open ends as a brace for the books
#BACKTOFALL 🍁🍂 I cannot wait for fall, all the orange leaves . Cozy mornings with a pumpkin 🎃 spice coffee mmmm Best season ever ❤
I love to organize! I was a homeschooling mom for 12 years, so this brings back memories. I teach preschool now so I am still constantly organizing my teaching materials. 😁 #BACKTOFALL 🍎
For some reason it cracked me up that your brothers sock was in the basket. I love this video. Your content is always so helpful! ✏️🖍📓📖

I never heard of those Little House on The Praire books. I only know about the other books. Always fun to watch you declutter Natalie.
So love the song till we meet again, I've used it for my Late elder sister dedication video 😓🤲
🍎 I agree with you completely in regards to the cube comment! We are trying backpacks this year after 8 years with cubes! 😃
YES... Pinterest worthy is NOT necessary for a good education!
🍎 Hi Natalie! I am your regular viewer and love love your videos.
