3 years ago, when I was postpartum with our 4th baby (and feeling really bad about my body) I started wearing dresses! I also can’t believe how much I adore them! 3 years later, body “back,” I prefer them over pants almost every day and I’ve never felt more feminine!
@@malloryanthony8921 definitely lean into that! I’m not about being unhealthy, or feeling like one needs to hide/ cover their body, but at a time I wanted to feel beautiful and knew there wasn’t a quick fix… so I decided to stop hating parts of myself that didn’t fit into clothes and learned through trial and error which style dresses I actually love (flowy midi dresses were what flatters me). I love clothing and style so it was fun to change up!
I wear dresses, or skirt outfits, everyday, it’s hard to beat their ease and comfort. They feels so feminine and swishy. I’ve always worn them because at age 63, I have yet to find any jeans or trousers that fit. I never once wore pants to my office during my career.🙂
We have been on the decluttering journey since 2020. I grew up with a mom who has a hoarding issue, so when we moved into our home in 2019 , we immediately got tins of stuff for her. I was very overwhelmed. I found your channel and the motivation and advice is just what I was looking for. Thank you for this I had weight loss surgery in February 2022 to help combat some severe pcos issues I was facing. I have lost over 140 pounds and I am struggling to dress my body and am just so stressed when I look at my closet. Thank you for this inspiration. Blessings to you and your family. ❤
I have been decreasing my wardrobe slowly over the years. Your so right we tend to gravitate to a few pieces that we own, so why do I want to “manage “ the rest? I’m going to go through mine again after watching you!🥰
If you're looking for some fancier style pants that also stretch, I love the Sanctuary x Anthropologie collection. The stretchy pants are so comfortable I tend to not even really notice them unless I feel the tag. The only thing is that they no longer make them so you'd have to find them secondhand on somewhere like ThredUp or Poshmark or something
Yes!!! You love those pants sooo much. Keep them. Wear them around the house. It’s soooo very hard to find clothes you feel great in. Pair with a black top!
Another awesome video so far! I keep a fairly minimal wardrobe but not extreme... My reason isn't because I am concerned with what others will think of me rewearing but because I really enjoy fresh new looks here and there :) It helps to lift my mood! Looking forward to doing another run through my collection after today's inspiration from you 🥰
I wear mostly silk because of my hypersensitive skin, it’s the only fabric that doesn’t cause allergic rashes. I especially love knitted silk, it’s a dream to wear. In the hottest part of summer, I wear linen dresses because I can overheat in silk when it’s really hot, but that’s a menopause thing that I hope will go away eventually. I don’t wear silk to look fancy, I wear it for its pure comfort. It’s also really easy-care.
Im not going to lie, decluttering my closet was so mentally difficult (with the $ down the drain) but the results are so worth it! I didnt realize how overwhelmed I got (and the opportunity i had to let laundry sit), and since I was able to cut down to 5 shirts I have all "i love it" clothes :))🎉
As always thank you for the motivation 💗 I am on a very emotional and very unfamiliar journey and videos like this help tremendously. Listening to your thought process and kind and encouraging words, helps calm me down and keeps me focused. #premierefam
Our wardrobes look almost identical at this point! My kids love watching your videos with me. My 7 year old also wanted me to tell you she has a cousin named Natalie! Definitely know that movie from your shirt! The Parent Trap was one of my very favorite movies ever!
Been with you on this journey! So appreciate that you outline the difference between home/work wardrobe and going out/nicer outfits. That divide feels so much less constricting. Also so appreciate your openness of getting rid of wristbands that don't work! Jeans are pretty unrealistic for my life right now postpartum. Also can you share links for your jewelry in this vid!
Thank you for this video, this resonates with the wardrobe I hope to have in future. Start with the favourites seems a good way to go. I keep decluttering, but need to get rid of more, as Im running out of storage space. Ive just found your channel so will watch your other wardrobe video(s). This seems a little bit like a 10 item wardrobe, which is good when you can get to that stage. I really liked the fact that you started with the clothes in your laundry basket, as to what you wear (and wash) the most.
If you Love your linen trouser so much, but don‘t feel good in red, why don‘t you try to dye it? Maybe another black or more brownish colour would work well ❤
if the poppy colored pants are the style you love, you can dye them so you don't lose the pants you can actually wear, but you can make them a color that works better for you! Linen takes dye well and it is super easy to do :D
Do you have to wait for the special announcement?😂 now I can’t wait! Last week you asked about using products to the last drop. Yes I do that too…I cut my tooth paste tube and get so much more out of it. Thank you, Natalie I get so much encouragement, joy, and positive thinking from you.
Natalie- how do I get over the “guilt” I feel about decluttering my closet? I did a HUGE declutter about a year and a half ago, but believe me when I tell you that it feels like that didn’t even scratch the surface. I still am left with if I’m honest, a large wardrobe of ill fitting but I still can’t get rid of closer of crap? Haha 😅 I feel a sense of attachment to these items but they aren’t “sparking joy” or serving me just hanging there. I feel guilty for the money spent!
Watching your messy to minimal series has been so inspirational. I don’t even consider myself to have THAT much stuff, but I’m thinking of it differently now. And I’m definitely feeling motivated to go through my closet lol. What are your thoughts on holding onto special occasion dresses? I have a dress I wore once and may never wear again but I really love it don’t want to have to buy another if the situation arises. I just feel strange hanging on to something for a “what if” scenario. Thank you for sharing with us! Your videos are so lovely and uplifting ❤
This video is done so well and I could listen to you all day. Thank you for sharing ❤ I’m off to reanalyze my closet, I’m ready to have things that are easy to pick out and have a more enjoyable time getting ready. 😊
👒You got it down to 15 pieces! 👏🏻 I went through all of mine last week and have 17 tops and 13 bottoms. But that's for all seasons (so it's short sleeve and long sleeve and sweaters and shorts and leggings and pants and skirts). Then I've got 8 pieces for church, which is really 3 dresses and their accessories of belts and necklaces. Including all my outterwear and all my shoes I think my total pieces came to 55. I don't include unmentionables, pajamas, grunge clothes, or anything dressy. And I don't put anything away in an off season bin bc it's just easier for me to have all I own together.
Natalie, I bought that Madewell gauze dress on Mercari for less than half the price after you originally featured it and have worn it SO MANY TIMES since. I plan to make it my airplane outfit when we travel next week. I seriously love it so much, so thank you!
👒. So encouraging! I recently added the same New Balance shoes for summer. I wear (and wash) them all the time. Love the washable feature because I get them so dirty!
I feel like Minimalism can mean so many things to different people. I like seeing your home and how you have made it feel homey. It would be so stale to walk into a home that had nothing on the walls and no comfy places to sit. I enjoy your channel. I have a minimalistic approach to jeans and shoes. I will own ten pairs of pants and wear them for ten years. I buy a lot of new pants on Poshmark for half the price that they sell for at a high end store. You helped me to grow as a person. It’s helped me to get closer to God as well. I now, think about what serves my life. I only own a lot of stuff that I will actually use. As far as clothes go, I been going through my wardrobe and picking close I thought I would never wear and forcing myself to wear them. That determines if I plan on keeping the item. That truck worked wonders for me. Then I always set aside clothes for strictly wearing around the house. Maybe it’s an old sweater or a pair of old pants. I always keep stuff like myself so I don’t ruin my good clothes too. Thank you for your channel and for giving me ideas on how to approach home life in a way that serves me. ❤️
I absolutely loved how honest you were with body image because I really struggle with. I love your outfits! I was wondering about the second black dress, how tall are you, because it looked really good on you but I'm really tall and just worried about it not looking "good" if that makes sense
Loved this video another great video from a favorite UA-camr of mine, it inspired me to go through my closet a donate some stuff I wasn’t reaching for anymore right after I watched it… also loved the comment where you said you have clothes for chicken slinging and gardening 👩🌾 really working… I have those types of clothes too… ❤
Natalie- did you ever give slouchy (I think they call them bib) overalls? Maybe they’re not your style, but I know a couple of us suggested them previously as an alternative to waistbands or dresses! They seem cute for gardening in :)
I have! And maybe it was just the styles that I’ve tried, but I feel like you could see down the hip and front part straight to my underwear and bare legs! I don’t want to wear shorts under pants and that’s what I seemed to have to do!
Natalie, there are other styles out there. If you have a friend who does more sewing than you have time for, find an old pattern from the 80's or 90's for the jumper/overall "baby onesies" type - it comes up higher on the sides & no waist!
👒 Hi Natalie. A very nice tansformation of your closet. I am starting a project of my own. 🤞 that in a couple of years I will be on similar number of clothes. Am currently experimentung with dresses and loving it. 😃
👒 I really enjoy watching your videos! I've just had a baby (she's 2 weeks old today), so I need to swap out my wardrobe too! For winter though, here in South Africa. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE my Rothy shoes. I have a pointed toe pair of flats and have a couple in a cart online, including the slip ons. I am wondering if its the season in my life that I need to declutter and get a few good quality pieces.
Our very small town has nowhere to donate clothing to at all!!!!! I have tons tons and more tons to Dr clutter but nowhere to deciliter them to and their very nice clothing but I just can’t wear them all!!!! Any suggestions?!
#premierefam 👒 Loved this one, Natalie. I’m at my parents for the week, but have such inspiration to simplify once I get home. Yes to dresses! I’ve been on such a dress kick recently as well. They’re so easy and I feel SO good in them!
I love all of your content, but this video is exactly what I needed as I need to declutter my wardrobe and my son's again. But I am with you with all the black! I do laundry and majority of what I wash is black lol. #premierefam 👒
I just had my second baby and I am SOOO over other peoples' opinions like I literally don't care anymore be it about my children, my parenting choices or myself. I used to put make up on for going grocery shopping but now I really don't give a damn 🤣
👒 Curious mind wants to know if you would be interested in doing a blog post/video on your favorite fragrances for every season? Then COMPLETELY different direction, a post/video on Christian books to help your small children understand the bible/theology? Thank you for your gentle motivation and transparency. It's very much needed and appreciated in NY state 😊
Finally get to wear scrubs for my work - it's been 1 year. You have inspired me to get rid of all those old "work" clothes that I will honestly never wear again. Also, the fact that my body has changed and the disappointment of trying on those pieces - "Ain't nobody got time for that". I(Name that TV interview / meme = ua-cam.com/video/j2EEZKVCZ4E/v-deo.html) I can't wait to pick out a few of my favorite versatile pieces to make outfits for the times I leave the house for anything other than work. I estimate at least 50 peices to declutter!! Thanks for letting me feel comfortable wearing the same few outfits.
👒 OMG! YOU are just amazing! I'm a almost 70 year old and love watching you do the declutter because it helps me declutter my life! Agter all these years of "collecting things in the kitchen or closet" I've gotten to the point of why do I keep this. A few years ago I finally got rid of an outfit I've had since 7th grade ( it still fit 😊) but never wore it after retirement.
I’ve felt a bit disconnected from your channel for a while because your home size has grown so you’ve been able to have space for more things. But seeing you being aggressively more minimal is so inspiring. Thank you for encouraging me to make the hard decisions especially on things I used to love but don’t use anymore. It really helps your style to shine!
Minimalism has been even more important to me in our new home! We’ve worked SOOOOO hard, made a ton of sacrifices and saved for so long to be in this place. I want to honor the space and have it function to its best ability!
I love having been on this journey with you, I have whittled down my wardrobe after experiencing the joys of a minimal wardrobe from my season in maternity wear, and really appreciate my clothing better, care for it better, and feel so much better in the items I do own. This video has reignited my desire to comb through again and do a quick little edit to make sure I am keeping my favorite things. Thank you for being you and sharing with all of your internet friends!
Yes! I can relate so much to this! I never liked having a lot of clothes but I guess I felt I needed permission to get rid of them? I don’t know exactly but I’m so happy to have this community where living a simple life is embraced.
I love chatty Natty❤ You've kept me company during my lunch breaks.😊 Also ,you are not alone in only wearing dresses. I literally don't have anything but dresses.😁 33:57
This was one of your best videos! I immediately got up and cleaned out my closet. I had moved to Florida almost 2 years ago and 3/4 of my clothing has not been worn. It felt so good to get rid of it and have no guilt. Thanks so much for being so inspirational!! Going to see if I can find a women’s shelter to donate.
Here for the Trash panda slob kabobbing chicken lady 😂😂 I feel like there’s so much to be said about trial and error in fashion. I’m finally learning what I actually like to wear after years of buying stuff that wasn’t it :)
Just in case you haven't given away those poppy coloured pants yet... Have you thought about turning them another colour? Seeing that the new model isn't to your liking maybe it is worth taking the time and dyeing them? Loved your video and it inspired me to take another look at how I want my closet to function. Thank you!
Thank you for saying that your "work clothing" is it's own mini capsule. YES! Now that makes sense!! I did that on my own because I couldn't imagine wearing my "capsule wardrobe" around the house, doing my every day chores. My closet is really paired down and I already see the benefits. I still need to tweek it and fill in blanks. I'm still watching and leaning. Since I decluttered the things that don't work for me anymore, all of sudden I have some easy grab outfits that were buried in stuff I was just "hanging on to". That was a pleasant surprise.
Natalie, when I started, i counted too. I had 651 pieces. My husband could not believe the number. I could not believe the number 🙂. I still have way more than I need, but I have less then one third and I am much happier 🙂. You belong to my ring of inspiration. Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing your wardrobe triumphs and successes so openly. I have a rare neurological AI disorder that effects my stomach and intestines and I have very similar struggles with waistbands. Thank you for normalizing that aspect of my illness and sharing some of the practical solutions you have implemented. You’re a blessing ❤
This inspired me to do a closet declutter. I was heading to the donation center anyway, so why not? And it’s so true there are things that you don’t reach for anymore. And long live black clothing!!
Thank you so much for doing these videos and always being honest. I always feel like I can’t repeat outfits and every time I watch you it makes me wonder why I feel that way. I cannot wait to go through my closet and really be honest with what I like and what I wear. Thank you so much!
Dear Natalie ☀️ Love your videos and your approach to .. life! 🤗 Regarding those red pants: Dye them! Thats what I do to those .. not my perfect color clothing pieces. 😊👒
The power of getting the correct diagnosis and discovering what prevents triggers is priceless. SO happy for you making it to this part of your GI journey!
The fact that i spend 90% of my time at home and working around the house/garden... i know i own way too many pieces! I recently went through my clothing and freed up a drawer so i can have more work/lounge pieces, since that is what i actually wear. I wash my clothing once a week and aside from pajamas, undies, work clothes... i may have 1 atually outfit that i wore. It is so tough battling that fantasy self! You are doing great - can't wait to hear the news!
I’d love to wear dresses more but I won’t wear a dress above the knee (prefer mid calf) which is hard to find, and being tall makes it extra difficult. Same with all the necklines being too low.
Have you tried Eshakti? I ordered 2 dresses from them in 2018 and I still have them. They are a little more expensive, BUT you send them your exact measurements and you choose the length of the dress, and you can add pockets to almost all of their dresses! I was pleased with what I received, but I haven't ordered again, only because I wanted to get down a few dress sizes before I spend that much on a dress again. (It came out to about $50 per dress after shipping and everything.)
LOVE your idea of two separate wardrobes! We live on a farm but I also have places I go weekly like church and other functions where I need nice, formal or semi formal clothing. Will totally be doing this!!
I’m a frequent declutterer (only in my closet!) but you inspired me so I just did a quick run through and I’m clearing out 15 items!! Yay for small wins!!
👒 Oh my gosh, adding that Parker Knoll tshirt to my Amazon cart right now! 😄 Love both Parent Trap references in this video! 🥰 You're truly the only UA-camr I watch anymore, Natalie! You're so calming and encouraging! 😌 Happy early wedding anniversary! 🩷
"Nobody cares what you wear" is my newest saying. I repeat this anytime I'm in a store or if I'm tempted to impulse shop (which has happened alot). I don't look great in black so I have several chocolate brown shirts that I layer with others. Love them. Thanks for talking through your process, it helps me understand how to better declutter. ❤❤
I must say that your videos are so inspiring! It is so nice to watch as you continue to encourage and reinforce the importance of really living and being present in the current season of life. What may have worked last year, may not work this year and that's ok. To only keep what works now really can be freeing. I'm continually peeling back the layers and getting rid of stuff. I know that I have a ways to go. What's also reassuring is that I remind myself that even if I'm not ready to get ready of "everything" right now, I look at it and say, "maybe the next time through". I've even just been sitting there and a thought will happen of something to declutter - and I get up and go get it (sometimes I have to move stuff to get to it, but I just want it gone)...makes me laugh...blessings and thank you! ❣
I just got my Parker Knoll shirt a few weeks ago! Ha. The Parent Trap aesthetic is such a vibe lol. All you need is a white dress and black hat, and a cream monochromatic look (or the cute little black dress), then you have the whole cast covered!! And I agree on the old navy linen. The newer is okay but was definitely a step down.
You could dye the poppy one in a darker colour. And wear your blouse over a slipdress, not with pants. Love watching your videos, now I want to declutter aswell 😁
I’ve been decluttering frequently for a year, but am still finding clothes I love that are huge on me now. It’s so hard to give up items I love so much, but my weight loss seems to be age-related and permanent, I have to try to be more realistic. Age 63.
3 years ago, when I was postpartum with our 4th baby (and feeling really bad about my body) I started wearing dresses! I also can’t believe how much I adore them! 3 years later, body “back,” I prefer them over pants almost every day and I’ve never felt more feminine!
This encouraging. I had my 4th a year ago and a bit lost with my wardrobe. Dresses may be the way to go

Yep, that’s me. My bf asks always if I’m ok if I wear something besides black and grey 😂
Yep! Me three! 😊❤
Same here I'm always wearing blacks and greys
And me they actually call me mortica at work 🤣

Praying for strength and peace for you on this journey. ♥️ may the Lord be near!
In agreement with @NatalieBennett for you, praying over your heart & mind! 🫶
Unfamiliar and emotional can be scary. Praying you feel God's peace ❤

"Misfit minimalist!" I love that! That's me too. And I also wear mostly black, so welcome to the cult. 😂❤

I wish I could! I just need another week or two to finalize some work on it! ♥️
@@NatalieBennett i understand! ❤️
👒 i have been leaning into long dresses always love when they have pockets . Black attire takes me back when i worked in a spa always in black 😊

👒Love this kind of videos...decluttering and capsule wardrobe!❤😊Greetings from Croatia!
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!!! Thank you Natalie! 👒
👒 Love your videos the best!! I am going through my clothes again! I've already packed a few large bags to declutter!!
👒 Love this ! Great video! Good inspiration! Going to declutter my closet!!!
I’m a hairstylist and my wardrobe is also all black 😂 it just works so well!
The Rothy’s City Slip ons are wider! They also have new, WAY comfier insoles. And they are on super sale right now
Sweet!!!! 🏃♀️
Literally just bought a pair!
#premierefam 👒
Loved this one, Natalie. I’m at my parents for the week, but have such inspiration to simplify once I get home. Yes to dresses! I’ve been on such a dress kick recently as well. They’re so easy and I feel SO good in them!
👒 I love this and the encouragement you share! Thanks!!
👒 thanks for putting out content that we love so much ❤
I love all of your content, but this video is exactly what I needed as I need to declutter my wardrobe and my son's again. But I am with you with all the black! I do laundry and majority of what I wash is black lol. #premierefam 👒
Good morning Natalie from Minnesota
👒 thank you for your video!
I just happen to see ads from Quince recently and you totally confirmed that I must buy their pieces. 😂
You won’t regret it!
I would Love Something Like quince, but we dont have it here in Germany:/
I just had my second baby and I am SOOO over other peoples' opinions like I literally don't care anymore be it about my children, my parenting choices or myself. I used to put make up on for going grocery shopping but now I really don't give a damn 🤣
I love it when you chat a lot😊❤.
I’m glad! ♥️
Love your videos ❤
Love your videos. Have you ever done a parasite cleanse? I think you might benefit from that. Please check into it.
I have!
👒 Love from Germany
I hope i can be able to afford buying the silk blouses and also the black dress! Stay at home mama here... 😢 #PremiereFam
Seriously these blouses from Quince are so affordable compared to the name brands!
Excited to see another closet video #premierefam
👒 Curious mind wants to know if you would be interested in doing a blog post/video on your favorite fragrances for every season? Then COMPLETELY different direction, a post/video on Christian books to help your small children understand the bible/theology? Thank you for your gentle motivation and transparency. It's very much needed and appreciated in NY state 😊
Decluttering my summer/winter clothes is in my near future. My closet is currently a hot mess express 😱 #premierefam
Finally get to wear scrubs for my work - it's been 1 year. You have inspired me to get rid of all those old "work" clothes that I will honestly never wear again. Also, the fact that my body has changed and the disappointment of trying on those pieces - "Ain't nobody got time for that". I(Name that TV interview / meme = ua-cam.com/video/j2EEZKVCZ4E/v-deo.html)
I can't wait to pick out a few of my favorite versatile pieces to make outfits for the times I leave the house for anything other than work. I estimate at least 50 peices to declutter!! Thanks for letting me feel comfortable wearing the same few outfits.
Could you link the dress for me and tag me please?
❤

Oh my goodness!!!! 7th grade?! Amazing 😆
👒
I just moved to FL from WI. I really need to go through and declutter all my wintery clothes!!!
Here for the Trash panda slob kabobbing chicken lady 😂😂
I feel like there’s so much to be said about trial and error in fashion.
The timing of this video is perfect. I’ve somehow amassed a ton of clothing again and I’m freshly inspired to pair down my summer wardrobe!
As a fellow PNW lady, love your videos every week! They give me a ton of motivation to clean out my own closets and spaces, keep it up! 👒
I wear repeats outfits all the time fine with it if u love it wear it as much as u want I say
And if anyone ever notices that you rewear things frequently, they say, “I love it when you wear that! It looks so great on you!”
Dear Natalie ☀️ Love your videos and your approach to .. life! 🤗 Regarding those red pants: Dye them! Thats what I do to those .. not my perfect color clothing pieces. 😊👒
You should rit dye the poppy pants. A dark brown or black.
I admire you ladies that can have a minimalist wardrobe. I hate to wear
the same things all the time and really hate to do laundry
the poppy pants would go good with the dressy video top
👒If the poppy pants are a fit you love, try dying them, they could come out brown and go nicely with your pretty blouse
👒 Oh my gosh, adding that Parker Knoll tshirt to my Amazon cart right now! 😄 Love both Parent Trap references in this video! 🥰
You're truly the only UA-camr I watch anymore, Natalie!
It’s great when adorable dresses make you feel better physically! And they have pockets👏👏😊
Age 63.
