I will never forget the day my son was in 3rd grade & came home from his predominantly white school and told me white women were the most beautiful and black women are tricks. I was so angry and hurt. I could not believe those words came out of my son's mouth. It took everything in me not to go to that school and ask who was brainwashing him. I yelled at him, my brother yelled at him, my dad (pastor) talked to him. I told him they want your color, they want your lips, & they want your athletic ability. Always remember that they fear you. They will try to break you. Your family is full of beautiful colors. Me: Is your mama a trick?
    Son: no
    Is your sister a trick?
    Son: no
    Me: we're black.
Don't you ever come in my house or anyone else's house with that bullshit! I mean it! Go to your room and watch Mississippi Burning and Roots!

It is okay to have a preference, but look for someone who love people and will love you. Black people are all "black" so I don't see why this "MIND TRICK OF SATIN" is still being discussed. This started in slavery, but blacks today have more important issues to worry about than to be some what racist within the culture. If someone doesn't want you because of your complexion or you don't live up to their standards, you don't need them anyway.

Im a dark sista and proud of it. i dont hate light skin men. My family is lightest to the darkest. Hating light skin people would be like hating half my ancestors. but, ill say this, light guy that i have dated, felt that he was better than i. As if he was doing me a favor, while dating me. i had to throw him to the curb, with the rest of the garbage. Love starts with u. if i had insecurities about my skin color, i would feel that this is what love should feel like, and i should be a buck dancing nigga and be happy this light man gave the time of day. Pls, im the queen, i love my dark skin. i know that he was the one with serious issues. i ve taught my kids to love the skin their in. i find that education is the key, it separates reality from the BS.

As a light skinned guy, I personally prefer brown to dark and dark to light skinned women. I sooner date a White women then date another Black person with my complexion. It may sound weird, but think about it, how many light skinned couples do you see? Like myself, all the light skinned people I know had one dark or brown parent. In the Black American community, light skinned pairings are the rarest, which means statistically, we choose to choose from a smaller pool because we don't really date our "own". Maybe this is do to social programming or the dynamic I grew up with. Maybe other Blacks feel if light skinned people paired off as often as dark skinned people do as a norm, it would limit their access to us in some weird color-ism bullshit kind of way. So much for privileged as far as dating is concerned, especially for light skinned men.

It seems beating up on and hating homosexuals is the popular thing for black people to do. Stop speaking on homosexuals until you educate yourself on the issues we face on a daily basis. The vast majority of homosexuals are masculine. Employers don't know every black man's sexual preference before they hire them nor does that factor into their decision to hire them. Homosexual face far more discrimination in workforce, especially jobs working with children they rarely ever get hired for. Homosexuals face twice as much discrimination being a double minority then heterosexual black men face so spare me with this bullshit notion that we somehow have it easier in corporate America. Wear black before we're gay

Well I would take Idris Elba or Channing Tatum any day, so preferences have to all match up to be even considered. Idris and Channing are both tall attractive and have a sexy, endearing lovely personality ... if any of those things were missing, my preferences would change. I don't think having preference for a skin complexion is bad and it doesn't make you racist either... you can like medium brown men..not light not dark...nothing wrong with that. what is bad and makes you racist is hating everyone that is that color like also not being friends with them or socializing... not just the fact that you are not attracted to them... you can't force yourself to be attracted to someone you are JUST NOT ATTRACTED TO. I would date a very dark skin man like IDRIS as long as he is also tall and has an enticing voice.. I would date a fair skin man if he is tall and has an enticing voice. I definitely would not date a guy no matter what if he was shorter than me or had a feminine voice. I'm attracted to tall dark and handsome with a voice to match.. also tall light and handsome. people get caught up in color when discussing preference like it's bad... it's no different than not dating obese people because you like fit people ... you are not a bodyshamer just because your not attracted to a 400lb person... you are not a self-hater or racist because you are not attracted to a certain skin color. You are not bad because you are not attracted to big feet or big ears or big foreheads or big heads. you literally can not force yourself to instantly be attracted to someone you are not.... appearance is the first step.
