Just got our Traeger Flatrock, seasoned it at least six times, but haven't taken it for a spin yet. It looks extremely well made and I'm looking forward to some smashed burgers. The only annoying thing we found when putting it together was the the hanger for the propane tank. The curved part of the hanger that supports the back of the tank pushed it forward enough that it made the other end of the support pop out of the flange that was supposed to hold it in place, which made the tank hang at an angle. Other than that we're impressed.
@@TheBarbecueLab Thank you for the tip. My husband MacGyvered it so we're set but I'll contact Traeger to see what they came up with. BTW, enjoyed the video. Thanks again.
That front grease drain is worrisome for me. I seen another review where they said it gets quite hot above that as there is nowhere for the heat to escape but that drain. Would hope they modify that in the future.
I’m looking to get my first griddle. Some videos praise a front drip pan…and others don’t like it. It does seem easier for someone like me that doesn’t know any better to have it in the front. What are your positives for have it in the rear. I really do appreciate the feedback. I’m on the fence on a griddle to start with. The Traeger seems overpriced but was wondering about your experience. Thanks

I’m looking for my first griddle. This one is almost double the price of other griddles. Would you recommend a less expensive griddle to start or spend the money? Love your channel 😃
No reply Huhh. LOL. Sounds like Trager bought him out and probably gave him a free griddle? Sometimes you have to wonder at almost 1k for this grill including tax. It's extremely high.
I really like the design, features, and very even heating of this griddle, but it's too expensive. Needs to be $599, not $899. For that price, it should be bigger with 4 burners and include a weatherproof cover, which is extra.
Hi, does anyone know if this can be connected to a home propane line? I can't seem to find the specs and even called Traeger tech support with no luck (seems the tech support can only read off of a screen). I'd like to run 1/2" iron pipe with propane.
Two things I don't like about it: 1. it has to be plugged in, I don't understand why it can't just use a battery for the ignitors and propane sensor. 2. Has no Natural Gas option, this just seems like a obvious feature people looking to buy a premium flat top are going to want.
I'll stay with my $180.00 Blackstone that I bought from Amazon. It actually cost me $120.00 because of the discount for getting an Amazon credit card. Best deal I ever made !
I really do love how much space is available on the cooktop and the shelves. We did Greek Chicken Naan wraps last night on it, and I wish we had leftovers for today. Thanks for watching Charles!
Well, it seems big compared to my Fire Magic griddle which fits on a section of my 48 inch grill. I’d love to have that size griddle. I also have the Timberline 1300 for my smoking needs and it works great. I like large items because we entertain a lot and we have a large family. I’m going to have to look at the Blackstone griddle now too even though I’m not in tbe market for one.😀
Lol you do realize that Blackstone makes griddles that are just as expensive as this Traeger right? You pay for quality. There is a reason why Blackstone griddles are sold at Walmart and Traeger is not
I will be going with the Member's Mark at Sam's Club, it hs 5 burners, Stainless steel Tope with Two Cabinet doors Enclosed, Folding side shelves, Magnetic tool holders on both sides, for only $399. It has great reviews as well. I have a $200 Weber Kamado with Stainless Steel table, I can easily afford the Trager, but It is simply overpriced for what I am getting. So I will pass and let the Trager Fan boys enjoy that over priced Griddle. Learned a long time ago paying more doesn't always mean its better.
base price $899.99 for anyone not wanting to watch video if this is outside the price range. wish review channels would list the price in title or in details section. So people arent "tricked" into watching videos on items they can say no to up front based on price.
FAR TOO EXPENSIVE! The thing doesn't appear to have any real features to justify the cost. Also, having moved to a Pit Boss with the new ceramic nonstick, I don't see why anyone would want to deal with the older style cleaning and seasoning...
For $900 this is ridiculous. I guarantee my Blackstone which was 1/3rd the price can cook the same or better than this. You can buy almost 3 blackstone griddles, which are bigger, can accept natural gas and I have a lid that can actually be used. This lid is NEVER to be used closed per manufacturer. If this wasn’t $900 and around $450 I would consider it. Looking forward to your later reviews!
amen brother. Weber is releasing their version and still the 3 burner is $449.99. 4 burner is $579.99. My 36 in blackstone has served me well and would take something truly amazing for me to switch. This ain't it.
@@rockon856 in the manual on the website is states the lid must never be closed while cooking. my thoughts are its cheaply made stamped steel and it also says if closed while cooking its a fie hazard. my blackstone has an aftermarket full stainless lid that i can use to steam or bake with. This unit is clearly made to make traeger fanboys spend money on an inferior griddle.
The Flatrock is nicely refined, the grease collect, wind deflectors, however I agree with you. This does not justify the ridiculous price tag. Weber just released a new griddle too, their price is much less.
Your reviews are always terrific.

Best way to modify it would be to replace it with a Blackstone griddle.

Igniter, flame ON indicators and meter for how much propane is left in the tank.
what he said.
Looks awesome
Thanks Chris. One of these days you'll have to give this one a go!
Seriously torn between this and the Blackstone.
I’ve watched lots of videos on many other brands, and it seems to come back to these two.

No nonstick coating on a modern griddle?
can you use batteries instead of plugging it into an outlet??
Yes, you can run the unit of aa batteries as well.
If it had storage cabinet, I would have purchased already
This may sound stupid, but is that lid tight enough to keep mice out?
Seems like it to me.
Not being effected by wind is huge for me.

How hard would it be to remove the legs to transport in suv to tailgates and re attach them?
You can’t. This must use 120V power
@@bigscreenbird8198 That is completely false. There is no requirement for 120v to use the Flatrock. Do some research.
BTW I will have electric plug in on site
Seems like a couple of screws in each leg, a bit heavy, a hassle but doable for large tailgate group
@@sargentj100 it uses a 9v battery for the igniter. 120v is for the lights, propane gauge and the igniter if you wish to plug it in
