oldguyFPV; Wait until a Karen doesn’t like what you are doing, and gets a screen shot of your drone flying just a little to high! Your Remote ID information, can and will be used against you in a court of law. Fly safe, fly free!

As long as you operate in a controlled manner, you'll be okay. You're allowed to exceed the 400ft ceiling to avoid hitting something if it's ever needed, so never be afraid to do it. The bottom line is, don't run in to anything,
Karen's I just tell I wanna make President Trump king Trump and give all demonrat politicians an American loyalty test! that usually gets the conversation away from the drone. I've seen only a few. I live in a very rural area.
      Ps, keep flight logs

More concerning is the network id being proposed in the UK 😬

There has been discussion of the US government contracting with third parties, cellular providers in particular, to have RID receiver hardware network installed at tower sites.

That ain't going to happen for various reasons. First, each such device would have to be certified, designed, wired, built, installed, checked for BTS intererence, etc. It's hard to come up with a real cost, it's hard to figure out the unit price, but let's say 10000 dollars per unit. After all, someone has to come there, climb the tower, find a place, check the worrk, pay workers and all that important parts. And then, there are approx 200 000 (probably more) cellprone towers in the USA. Do the math. And someone would have to pay for upkeep, service. Dozens of millions bucks a year.

@@FPVBites I have a close friend who works on the radio equipment logistics for T Mobile nation wide. We've had some discussion about the probability of such a network implementation. It's not as far fetched as you might think. He can actually show a map of every cell site in the US, T Mobile or otherwise, and they are inspected, serviced, and replaced on a pretty regular basis. Think 5G rollout time period. All it would really take if for the federal government to mandate a compatability of future hardware beginning xxxx date. If it were determined to be a matter of matter of national security that ball starts rolling pretty quickly.

FAA would like to do it for free. T-mobile will want to get paid. Unless FAA finds hundreths of millions this will not happen nationwide. Do the math :)

@@FPVBites Right. On that end the FAA doesn't really need to be involved though. The FAA didn't come up with the idea for RID, it was demanded by Congress in the FAA Reauthorization Act. The FAA is responsible for enforcing airspace regulations, but anyone can file a report for investigation. If I had to bet on the question, I would guess there will be a network component to RID within 8 years.

@@FPVBites unless a law goes into place that MAKES TMobile do it. You act as if the government has their hands tied behind their back regarding free enterprise companies lol😂

Cell towers could not receive the signal?

    • @FPVBites
      @FPVBites  11 місяців тому +1

What does it mean "receive" ? And what next? Decode? Transmit somewhere? Where to? Central server? Does it exists? Are cell towers owned by FAA or cellular operators? There is a ton of questions and problems

Pawel, if I'm not mistaken, it transmits the position of the drone, but also the home position (+/- where you are).
The rest is spot on. 😊
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Yes, but someone still has to be within a close range to pick up ANY of the Remote ID transmission. So, they will be close to the pilot anyway. Unless, of course, the quad is "far" away which would violate the FAA regulations by being beyond visual Line of Sight. If some snagged the information that far out, well, it will likely not be worth finding the pilot; Unless the drone is at low altitude which one might construe as "spying" on them or harassment.

  • @buddyadkins2432

Excellent Video. I totally agree with you. The short range of the current Remote ID broadcast modules is pretty much a non-concern or should be. In my opinion, some folks make too big of a deal about pilot location. If someone is close enough to pick up the RID signal, then they are likely close to the pilot anyway, unless, the quad is beyond the pilot's visual line of sight (and not some tiny dot on the horizon) which violates the FAA regulations. Still, no one is going to harass the pilot unless they perceive and invasion of privacy or some type of harassment. By the way, I don't see any criminals trying to go out to see if they can find a quad in the sky, get the pilot's location, and then try to rob the pilot.
