- After many recommendations to return to Blacklock and try their Sunday Roast, I've gone back to Covent Garden to review it. This is a review that I've been excited to try for a while as I've had it booked since my last review there over two months ago.

Let's give it up for Mr Cameraman - he must have a steely resolve in filming you tucking in to such a glorious looking meal whilst he goes without. It's tempting enough for us watching but he also has to contend with the delicious aromas! Nice work as usual, from both of you. Bet you're counting down the days until you can go again.

Lol. He's got a huge fan club of people that feel sorry for him (even I did on this one) I'm glad you loved the food.
I felt sorry for the camera person when Gary came back to us cleaned the main plate off and gave it to camera person, bad darts, meal looked fab apart from pudding, not stodgy enough for a kid from Yorkshire

Someone told me, Gary buys him a bag of Cheese & Onion crisps when they finish recording. 😂
Gary, that was simply outstanding. The ambiance, the quality of all the food, the portions were huge; I could almost smell and taste the food. I’m so happy you enjoyed the experience because we all did. Many thanks for sharing this with us. Always rounds off the day for me. Much appreciated 👍💎👍💎👍

Fabulous food Gary. How can food be so good, it looked delicious, every morsel. Deserved a 10. Sometimes these places let you down, this one hasn't. Being Scottish and meeting a Yorkshire man, I learned what Yorkshire puddings were, delicious with gorgeous gravy, his mum made wonderful Yorkshire puddings, and wonderful Sunday dinners, brought lovely memories back to me. Great show again Gary, you were made for this.
Oh indeed my friend. This was probably my favourite review on the channel so far.
I was a young child at the start of WWII and my family had been evacuated back to uk to my mothers home in Yorkshire and I remember the Sunday lunch. The first course was the Yorkshire pudding with thick gravy. The pudding was made in the meat tin in the meat juices, so a very large one shared among us. Then came the vegetables and finaly the meat. And as you shared all delicious. What a memory all these years later.
3 months for a single roast dinner? That is what I call a slow cooker 😝It was such a pleasure seeing you enjoy one of your favourite places again. The food looked amazing and I would love to visit sometime. 10/10 is no surprise. Thanks Gary.

@GaryEats well if you're ever in Cork, we'll have a Sunday Roast in the South County in Cork. I go there every Sunday and am still full from the rib of beef I had yesterday 😋

3 month waiting list ! Sure sign that you're in for one of the best (if not THE best) roast dinners ANYWHERE !! Probably the best roasties I've ever seen too ! The smile on your face says it all Gary ! We did go to Covent Garden on our UK stay in London this year but we missed this one.......AAARRGGGH !!!! I agree with you Gary, if you get such great service and such a high quality meal, I'd gladly pay that price - especially in London ! See you again in 3 months !

Oh my giddy aunt, that was truly a scrumptious-looking feast. That is truly worth the three-month wait to enjoy all that delicious goodness. My favorite roast meat is lamb as well. If I had the pleasure of visiting London again, I would definitely make a reservation to eat at this fine establishment. Thank you for sharing with wonderful establishment and meal with us all.

Cauliflower Cheese is my weakness. Apparently I eat enough of it for four but it’s not often. I like to put leeks in mine too.
Well ,what a lovely meal ,well presented, all those meats looked very lean and lowered a definite quality cut . I really couldn’t see nothing wrong with that Gary. Excellent review ! You certainly know where to go exquisitely one of the best roasts for a while on here. Thank you.👏👏👏🤩❤️🙏🏼

Love Blacklock! Honestly such a gem of a place and while it’s more expensive than a normal pub type roast, I still think it’s pretty decent value for money (particularly for central London)!

I actually have had rice with roast as well as potatoes about 14 years ago with my roast. That worked well.. something about rice and gravy.
Looked fantastic . Lots of pubs / restaurants do good food in week but struggle to get a Sunday roast dead right ….not here . Love your enthusiasm and your passion for food , Garry . 👍🍷

That looked absolutely delicious, especially that roast pork. Roast pork is my favourite, especially with a bit of fat on it like that. I think I'd rather have the fat than the meat itself! Absolutely smashing, that. I'll have to make a reservation ahead of time next time I know im coming to London. Great review.👍

One thing I would mention because you often refer to the service charge.
It's worth asking the staff serving you if the service charge goes to the people serving you as some places do not distribute it back to the staff in that way. If they say no then ask if any tips given go to direct to the waiting/cooking staff. If this is the case I would always remove service charge and tip directly to waiting staff IMHO.

Even at £30 with the cauliflower cheese - in central London for that quality and that quantity - I’d say worth every penny. Seen many other places which charge more than that for something less worthy 👍🏻

I completely agree, there's just something so gravitating about Gary. He should host an evening one day where we can have and evening with him, he just comes across as the sort of guy you'd have a pint of beer and steak with and appreciate the good food!

Wow Gary that was a beauty - what I would call a proper roast dinner. The flavours jump out just looking at it, and nicely portioned too, with good sized sauces to complement. That cauliflower - gorgeous! Considering the location of the restaurant and the quality of the food £25 isn't a bad price at all really, and I'd certainly pay a fiver for the cauliflower. No wonder it's so busy. Thanks for bringing us this little gem.💎💎💎💎💎

@4:18 Wow, we got exactly the same fork inherited from my Essex husband's mother. Coming out of the drawer for Christmas. He so misses old-fashioned English food. Me being German-born but having legged it as soon as I was legal I prefer Asian food but heck, Gary, you're the quintessential English gentleman! With the right manners and all.

I was here on Sunday for the roast. One of the best roasts we have had in any restaurant in recent times. Good portions and very fairly priced for the quality of the food.

Well that certainly looked worth the money, the crispiness of the potatoes and Yorkshire, the thickness of the meat slices, certainly no scrimping done! Looked like a never -ending plate, or clever editing, lol! Would love to try it, maybe next summer? Another charming review, Gary, keep 'em coming!

When we went there a couple of months ago my only complaint was that there wasn’t enough crackling, I could’ve eaten loads more! Very hard to fault the Blacklock ‘all in’ Sunday lunch.
Pretty much nailed it. I felt exactly the same.
That's amusing. I can't stand crackling. I like bread stuffing, Yorkshire's, parsnips, then the meats with a nice smooth onion gravy

Almost as good as Mums Roast Dinner ???? ..... a bold statement by Blacklock, they really have no idea 😀😀 and U will always be NOT be as good as Mams ...... Sunday dinner was a ritual in the 70s .. exact 12 at the dinner table 4 the feast banquet of the week, created with no money ... Home cooking has been forgotten by many ... 😥 Never forget the past my friends ❤

That roast dinner was a work of art. At that price you can't fault the portion size or quality. What I particularly liked was the fact they gave you a separate plate so that the customer can have it exactly the way they like it. Not everyone likes their plate piled high (me) but prefers to go back for more. This gives customers that choice. I've never had that before at an individual serving.
Totally agree , I have a friend I often lunch with and even if veered in an Indian and the dishes are on those plate warmers , or whatever they’re called , he piles everthing onto his plate and then puts dish back on hot plate.

Roast Pork with apple sauce is my favourite Sunday roast. That pork looked delicious.😋. In fact the whole meal looked amazing,far too big a portion for me though.

i am watcing this as i am waiting for my nirse to come to do my anti biotics i new i should have waited as i have not had my dinner yet that just looked simply amazing gary the roast pottatos looked out of this world as for the meat stunning as you know lamb is my favourite as well as for the size of the yorkshire pudding outstanding my dad used to make the gravy out of the potatoe fat and the water the vegtables was cooked in could only get ten out of ten how did it compare to the other place you said did the best roast dinner thanks again to you and the cameraman another outstanding review thanks again steve

Hi, Gary. Good grief, bet you had a long afternoon nap after that apotheosis of a Sunday Lunch! If I ate that much in 30/40mins, there'd be a 3-month waiting list for our loo 6hrs later, let alone the restaurant 😂.

Been here few times one recently , the quality and consistency of the food is outstanding mate and certainly the best roast we’ve had in London mate and we’ve had a few , the meats are another level so juicy !!! And the price ? Just outstanding value mate all round great review as usual 💥

That looked so delicious, so not suprised it's so popular! Oodles of food and probably a bit too much for me, but I think it's great value for the price. In Covent Garden no less! This is a definite for me. All I have to do is commit to that 3 month wait first! But I'm sure it's worth it. Great review Gary, thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10 is well deserved.
