This is called the beat. I can clap along with the beat. Or I can snap my fingers with the beat. Or I can tap my foot with the beat. Or I can bob my head with the beat. It doesn't matter how you do it, you’re still feeling the beat. The beat is the pulse of the music you’re listening to - in fact it’s the heartbeat. When musicians say “play in time” they mean feel the beat and play along with it.
So if I wanted to play something along with the beat, I would get out my trusty metronome - this will help you know where the beat is. Every click you hear is the beat. I’d set it to whatever tempo I want. And now I can play with the beat. I can also play in between the beats. I can play on the beat AND in between the beats.
If I'm writing a piece of music I want to capture this beat or "time" and write it down on paper to make it easy for performers to understand how to play my music. But how do you capture time and write that on paper? That's where time signatures come in!

Beyond my head ...
How could I grab this idea easily 🙂
I like it😩💗
I like the examples with the guitar.
Will two groups of three eighth notes (triplets) in a 2/4 measure sound the same as two groups of three eighth notes in a 6/8 measure?
😢 i cant undestand
Another great video. I liked it
