Just want to reiterate, I misspoke when I said Firewall coined the “FTK”. It certainly didn’t 🫠 Also yes, Prank-Kids did top 16 YCS Chicago, however for a YCS winning deck, it fell off the face of the earth in terms of the competitive meta-game and still was a rogue pick either way. But props to another rogue warrior for making the deck work. Now enjoy the video :)
In that case why not do the upset of dragon link at french nationals, the 60 card one with borreload furious which won the event,it was even pure without adventure cards
Please make a video on YCS Hartford! First YCS since the lockdown won by an Australian who not only booked the wrong plane ticket, didn’t fill out his visa correctly and nearly didn’t go and the crazy top 8 match where Poe top decks Raye against punk adventure when he gets hit with token collector on hornet drones!
I other words, he pulled a real-world Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters move. In the OG anime/manga, the characters didn't exactly always know what their opponents' cards did. Nice.
Yacine Sahli’s trap cyber dragon deck was a huge moment in yu-gi-oh for me. It wasn’t the fact that the deck wasn’t popular at the time. But it was reinvented and played in such a different and inventive way but was still amazing, and it’s one of my favorite things to see. It will never be as big as this upset. But it is still very cool.
YES, Cyber Dragon Trap is probably my favorite unexpected Yugioh moment. It was interesting because while most other Trap decks were threatened by Orcust using Zeroborus, Cyber Dragons had their Megafleet plays to mitigate it.
It was so cool. I made that deck shortly after and not only was it a suprising deck, but it was one of the most fun and simple decks to play as well. I’m forever sad about the new master rule lowkey nerfing that deck. My goal in yugioh is to make a deck like that one day
Fantastic video! This style of video documentary is something the Yugioh community has really lacked. I've watched Rhystic Studies and Jon Corpora cover MtG Esports for years and always wanted that polished, narrative style covering YGO. Cheers and keep up the good work!
Honestly, as a casual player who's not interested in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh, your story-telling abilities and video structure made this a very interesting watch. Would love to see more...

You should do a video on the YCS in 2010 when Frazier Smith won with Gravekeepers and all the history and crazy stuff that went into making the stars align that day. That is probably the single biggest upset in YCS history.
This. Not only that, they had 3 Teammates in the top 4 of that YCS with the same deck nobody saw comming. I think that this is easily the bigger upset.
@@YGO_Renaissance we're not even talking about the time hero beat, dark world and chaos piper made top 4 at ycs long beach in dino rabbit format?! that top 4 may have saved yu-gi-oh!

This is the first video on your channel that I stumbled upon, and I must say I love the editing. The level of hard work put into this video is admirable! Keep up the good work!
Dinh Kha's deck profiles are always great. His lab list from Bologna looked insane. I was questioning why even play Arias in furniture lab until he showed up with trap tricks of all things, absolutely genius!
These history videos are so fun to listen to. Yugioh history is interesting, but often i dont see anyone covering stuff like "the biggest left field ycs win" and the like. Im sure theres def a larger audience for these presentation style videos
Meow Meow seriously deserves to be unbanned. And bring it back to atleast 2 in MD. If Tears can still have Kitkallos Prank Kids should have 2 Meow Meow.
Awesome video and I love what you’re doing for the game! Feel obligated to point out Kha’s feature loss vs Gem-FTK was to Vlad aka Hypnocorn who is notorious as an insanely encyclopaedic, mad tech-genius guy, so Kha got paired against maybe the person with the highest chance of knowing what Prank-Kids did in the whole tourney lmao Shoutout Vlad the madman
To add some extra context to prank kids, the deck did not release with rocksies. It was just the water fire and wind guys. It got rocksies early in soul fusion special edition which helped the deck massively.
Not sure why this was just playing on my phone when I set it down but good video amigo. You got a follow, sir. One critique/suggestion though, maybe lower the volume a smidge on the background music to make it more subtle rather than competing with you.
I have never played this game back in the day. I fon't know much about it currently. Still your presentation and pacing has me binge watching this series. Fantastic work.
I have watched this video about 7 times, it still holds up as one of the most well made covers of one of the most interesting Yugioh events of all time
Interesting as always. I feel like dinka has cemented himself as one of the best deckbuilders if not the best in the game. He’s able to effortlessly bring unknown strategies and use his skill to top with them.
Really love the history great video! Learning how to properly combo a deck/ play to its full potential, has always been the most fun and difficult part of the game. Major respect for being the first ❤
One reason Borreload taking Colossus or Titan was such an important play in Prank Kids is that Fansies is also a Thunder monster, which provides fuel for their protective effects, making it that much harder for the Thunder Dragon player to recover.
26:33 all you have to do is make another one if they imperm or veiler(sure you cant add the spell/trap) but you can still add back from gy(and you can send the fusion spell with fansies) so it does near nothing.
Love this format of video for YGO. Was thinking of doing a couple myself in a video essay format but tbh I don't wanna jack your idea now lmaoooo. Anyway YCS Long Beach 2012 :)
Because of the intro i thought this was gonna be explaining how my favorite NBA player (also a good friend of mine in highschool; during my freshman year at least) became a godlike yugioh player. Wtf was that intro? Lmao
Link-1 Miow-mu at 1: At least make it limit, every deck deserve a consistent opening if they can. 2: This will make the deck is more agrresive, because you can double board wipe with no worries. 3: This will be dominant again. . Either limit or semi-limit, this will give a different impact to their play style. And I think it is still balance for the game.
Absolutely not, Meow-mu could be 4 and I would be surprised if Prank-kids were anything beyond Rogue. Simply because, what is the Prank-kids end-board? An one-sided board wipe and probably 2 or 3 hand-traps? If that was enough for a deck to be dominant Vanquish Soul would be tier 0. Sure, Meow-mu gives it a consistent 1 card combo, but that combo is both interruptable and low-impact, so it should go to 3
Great video! It's a really nice watch. Bit nitpicky, but I think you used the picture Top 8 from YCS Utrecht at 16:04 instead of the YCS Milan one.
