Municipal... Still waiting to see the day a Federal politician gets charged for their corruption, i'll probably be waiting the rest of my life to see that.
How does this float if they were elected members of council though? Can we imagine if the Canadian government ordered the province of Alberta to elect new MLAs? If enforcers knew of the happenings in municipal work forces.. If enforcers knew of the happenings in their own provincial work forces.. If enforcers knew of the happenings inside the country's law enforcement forces..😂
That's how Alberta rolls. Elected officials are held accountable. Not like other provinces where elected Liberal officials run their ridings like dictators.
Oh look! It's another bot, an underage person, with a fake profile, or a troll, who is completely clueless. In 2019, the UCP got into power by questionable means, because UCP members, including a UCP MLA, were given fines for election related infractions, which totalled around $200,000. The UCP MLA who was fined for election related infractions, was allowed to remain an MLA. The former so called 'premier' of Alberta is still being investigated by the R.C.M.P for how he attained his position of power. The former so called 'premier' of Alberta fired the Alberta Elections Commissioner, Lorne Gibson, who was investigating his leadership race, while the so called 'premier' of Alberta was away in Texas, on a useless jaunt. The UCP has done well over $80 billion in very costly debacles and mistakes, and were never held accountable for doing them. The UCP has also passed controversial legislation before weekends, or before long weekends, believing no one would notice. A good example of this is when the UCP tried to rescind Peter Lougheed's 1976 Coal Policy, during a May long weekend, around 2, or 3 years ago. Danielle Smith refused to have by-elections in ridings where MLAs resigned, or stepped down, without completing their terms as an MLA. Danielle Smith refused to run in the vacant riding of Calgary Elbow, where a UCP MLA, Doug Schweitzer, stepped down, before completing his term as an MLA. Instead, Danielle Smith ran in the riding of Brooks Medicine Hat, where a UCP MLA, Michaela Frey stepped down, without completing her term as an MLA. In return, Danielle Smith gave Michaela Frey a 6 digit salary pointless position. The UCP also has the least legislative sittings of any provincial, or territorial government in Canada. The UCP also created Bill 8, which removes the gift limits MLAs can receive, and it also makes it so that MLAs who are being investigated for ethics breaches, or other infractions, can still run as an MLA in provincial elections in Alberta. You really have no clue, and it shows. The UCP are running a dictatorship.
@Hyperpandas They are exceptionally clueless, and I gave plenty of reasons why. One thing I mentioned, was where the UCP made Bill 8. This bill removes the limit for gift amounts that MLAs can receive. It also makes it so that MLAs who are being investigated for ethics breaches, or infractions, are allowed to run in provincial elections in Alberta.
I’ve never understood why these elected ‘officials’ are left long enough to do so much damage…. It seems criminal to LET them… I work in northern Alberta most of my life.. and we have a DUTY and a Legal Right to refuse/report unsafe practices
The extreme leeway afforded in this case was to protect the political independence of the municipality - you don't want the province intervening willy-nilly in municipal affairs and if a municipality wants to elect (for instance) an extreme right-wing council (or Jyoti Gondek, for that matter...), you don't want the province over-riding that simply because they don't like council's politics. The province cut them so much slack that no-one will question the province's intervention.
For all those asking. It looks like members of the Chestemere City council and the mayor refused to make changes that the province wanted. They were given lots of warning and leeway, but did not take action. The Changes Alberta's government wanted were intended to instill good governance for the city. I had to go to smaller independant media outlets just to get this info.
Yes, what did they Not do? This is a first I’ve ever heard of this being done. Many townships in Canada who’s officials (who are so far off from representing the people) need their feet held to the fire.
@@SheriffofUA-cam According to CTV, ( I had to hop around to get the full picture.) Same thing with Edmonton Mayer Amarjeet Sohi and the rest the city council. Ontario Primer Doug Ford should also consider firing Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow for her incompetenc seeing how she's likly going to run that city into the ground.

Accountability... that's all we ask for. Have as many elections as it takes - remove everyone that doesn't measure up to standards - keep going until you find the gems, that surely exist, and pay them well and keep them on for as long as they can perform their sworn duties to the public. Glad to see positive action toward accountability in Canada. Leave it to Alberta to be the leader of the pack.
It’s time to look at Calgary’s mayor spending 2.25 million on a statue outside of the new convention center. It’s a little bit ridiculous with all the homeless and drug problems we have.
I did my hw on this mayor and he sounded awesome. Like he and his buddies were trying to save the Yuen from the globalists. That should terrify people that province can do that. Any dissenting mayors/council will be fired.
