If you allow me I like to point out a few things. The catapult or others attacks that have the 'siege' marker won't necessarily attack all the 15 rounds during the siege round, they have a info that says how often they will fire that determines how many times they can attack during that siege, if the attack says 'only usable every 2 rounds', it will fire in the round 1 skip 1 and fire again, similar to what a crossbow does (it attacks one round then skips another, then attacks again...). There's more to the attack of the catapult that's important to know, since it's able to attack anywhere (so it's not limited by the rank [front, mid, rear] mechanics, only by it's range), it can land a Boulder in a valuable mage's/commander's face 😀😤. Finally it's considered an area of effect burst 1, I don't know exactly how burst 1 works 😅 since it's different from a normal attack. Another good thing to remember is that fortification bonus, as you stated, works as an armor bonus, so attacks that ignores armor (skeleton bane fire archers, ancestral barbarian archers, some spirit like undead, some magic attacks, and the list goes on) will ignore the fortifications. That being said, there's also some units who are able to climb walls, fly over, tunnel under walls, or simply pass through them (ethereal units).
Which, sadly, seems to be about 99% of end/late game troops. In my experience it, actually, makes it very detrimental to have my troops attacked in a fortified city or tower. Mainly, because the AI seems to enjoy putting my commanders up front on the wall, instead of in the back - protected by other troops. Very bad, because I have had commanders of very strong armies killed this way. I've found that late game it makes much more sense to avoid cities except to take them, then leave. Fortifying them is almost useless. Keeping a strong army in a city is just begging to have your commander killed. Conversely, attacking an enemy who thinks they are safe and fortified in a city gives me a huge advantage.
I think "Burst 1" indicates that all the units in the struck square are hit, for cases in which the smaller units are stacked in the same location. At least, that's how it works in Dominions 5 so it must be similar.
CoE only has 1 unit to a square and large units take up multiple squares. I imagine the difference is, that against a regular attack, the attacker rolls accuracy first according to precision for ranged fire and attack skill for melee, while the defender rolls defence skill to determine weather the atteck connects before even armour calculations are done, whilst an aoe attack on a square always hits whatever is in it.
Thanks for this! I've been playing the game for a couple of weeks - without haven't played any of the earlier versions - and I still learned a lot from this.
Weiter so! Ich könnte mal ein Tutorial für Shadow Empire gebrauchen, los los :)
You may already know this, but pressing the question mark - ? - will bring up a help screen with hotkeys. I don't know if that works everywhere, but it's smart enough to give you the specific hotkeys for the screen you're in. For example, doing that in combat will bring up the specific hotkeys you can use in combat. Yeah, I always forget hotkeys when I haven't played a game for a few months (or a few weeks, often enough). So I really like this feature (which is also the case in their Dominions 5 game).
Iirc you can attach insane commanders to other commanders to move them. Use your novice to raise the dead and find an ancient temple or old caste to turn into your headquarters. Banefire archers and armoured soulless are another operational goal. You want to hold onto as much trash units as you can and try to upgrade them instead of throwing them away in combat. I like being defensive with my trash army and main necro and take resources with thugged out summons, you get very mobile thug units. On the subject of being efficient with your trash army, try to focus ethereal units for sieges as they can bumrush the defenses, instead of waiting behind a buch of undead that get mowed down and wasted. Necro, like any faction in coe, is about being oppurtunistic. I like the idea of the nature focused factions having orthoginal strategic goals (they want forests etc.) But it gets kinda streamlined because cities are so powerful. As a necro you will have to compete for the population centers, you cant hide away like the dwarves or dryads lol. That being said i havent fucked around in hades, but i assume thats a late-mid game goal. Again the problem is cities are powerful, so you want to be + a city and your rival - one. Other planes are simply not interesting in that aspect
They have none, except that there exists a respective resistance to each one of them (Blunt, Piercing, Slash). They don't apply any extra status effects and are influenced by armor normally.
WTF, no way, this is sleep paralysis demon kind of bullshit, you are EVERYWHERE, you teached me How to play amazing cultivation simulator and now this game? I ...i dont know man, you are watching me, you have FBI Powers and that is the only thing i belive, great vídeo! You are awesome!!

Thanks for adding these up, I kinda forgot to cover that =)

He read the manual so we don't have to. Doing God's work!
thanks for this and your first tutorial on CoE5 it’s made the game allot more easier to get into - i love this game

Dude you are super intelligent. You're a blessing for us niche gamers on the internet.
First! Also thank you for the info man, I’m new to these kinds of games but I find ‘em fascinating!
and one quick thing it’s ‘mor-al’ not ‘moral’ 😅
Came back to this game after a few months and forgot all of the hotkeys, thanks for the video!

@@Bill_Garthright I did not, thanks again!
This was very informative, and I learned a lot. Thanks so much!
Any chance of a Necromancer Guide? I can never seem to get the race/class rolling whenever I try them
I do plan to do guides, don't worry. Still a lot to learn for me though =)

Thx 4 the help!
the a in morale is like bad not ball (also not like bale).
Can you explain the difference in the damage types? Like pierce vs slash for instance?
They have none, except that there exists a respective resistance to each one of them (Blunt, Piercing, Slash). They don't apply any extra status effects and are influenced by armor normally.
@@Ic0nGaming Thank you!
Do they cause different afflictions like in dominions maybe?
If it works like in dominions, they interact differently with armour.
I didn't get well the trading mechanics
