  • This Razor RSF350 mini electric motor bike was on the curb on trash day. I picked it up and gave it to a neighborhood kid, but only on the condition he fix it himself.

    I think it's great that you're teaching this young fellow how to work with tools and such, the proper way! Kids NEED guidance like this, rather than being glued to a cell phone or a game console where their minds will do nothing but stagnate over time. You're right about those gel cells deteriorating over time, being set on their side, especially on a motorbike with no suspension where they're constantly being pounded sideways and shorting across cells.😉 *EDIT:* Now he just needs a paper route... oh wait, no one reads the newspaper anymore.🙄

    A mini electric "Ducati Monster". The girls at school will be after him for sure with that ride. Way to go Brad. That's how its done everyone. You see the grin on that young mans face? THAT, is how it's done.

    Makes me a little emotional seeing you hand down some man knowledge to the young guy. Good on ya.
    My son is 22 now and knows more about tools than I do at this point. Makes a dad proud.

    There was a guy with a garage with a compressor running all day across the street Brian. He was probably 30 when I was 10 and he made beautiful custom cabinets. Brian was never to busy to reseat some dry rot tire on a bike I was constructing that I pulled out of the woods. I had older brothers too, but this guy had the shop and he always took the time when I got stuck. Thanks for being that guy Brad.

    You set him on the right path on how to fix stuff, now he will be telling kids at school how he fixed his own electric bike. Hopefully that sparks his ingenuity.

    I do a thing at my house where when there is a lesson (like those you give in this video) that comes to mind or I am doing something that was never taught to me (long story, not great home life), I yell to my kids, "Man minute!"... take time to explain it and show it to them... to my daughters too by the way. I just say it thjs way because this 'man' wasn't taught. This video made me emotional. I am thankful this video is in the world today.

    Teach em well Brother 👍✌😎
    When folks around me ask if they can pay me to fix something or set something up. Unless it's real big I like to give them the option of just bringing the job around on a weekend and let me teach you how to Fix your Lawnmower, Setup your guitar, Cleanup your computer, Use and setup your Home studio. All stuff I do for myself anyways. I just find it nice to share what's in this old head cause many of them are dying out and it's nice to have company every so often ;)
    Working with kids one on one like this is super rewarding.
    To see the light go on once they understand what they're doing and why is magical.
    To see the joy on your face watching the kid have fun on the bike is priceless.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Love to all 👍✌😎

    This could start a positive fascination for that boy, heck yeah!

  • @Greywolf74
    @Greywolf74 8 місяців тому +1

    I love seeing you engaged with that boy like that. One suggestion. Get yourself a good wide chisel tip for your soldering iron. Something at least 5mm wide if not 6.5mm. It will allow the iron to transfer heat much faster to larger wires and things like those battery tabs. Not that your cant do it with a smaller tip but the ideal goal is to get the heat on and off the project as quickly as possible to mitigate heat transfer in your your project. a 6.5mm chisel tip will allow you to easily tin up to 10awg wire and 8awg is possible although a little trickier. Just a thought

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  8 місяців тому +1

      I have a chisel tip. I just hate changing out tips, or rather, I always forget to do it for the job. I have my small electronics tip on there now and by the time I realize I should have changed tips, the iron is already hot.

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  9 місяців тому +1

      Not a leak I was worried about, I don't think it's good for them for the electrolyte to be puddling sideways on the cells. I could be wrong, but doesn't seem right to me. I think they'll last longer this way.

    Brad, I don't expect you to respond to this, but here goes. I'm working on a Alesis Midiverb III. In the 9V AC supply voltage circuit either the silkscreen on the board or the marking on the schematic is wrong with respect to the polarity of an electrolytic capacitor C70. If the schematic is wrong I can leave it as is, if the silkscreen is wrong I will have to re-install the cap the other way. Which do you think is more likely?
