Thank you to everyone and their kind comments here, and on social media. Hello to everyone from the Fwoosh forums too! I've tried to join the conversation, but my posts have been in purgatory for a few days. Thank you again to everyone!
Wow, where we're now lucky that an expensive piece didn't come with parts correctly assembled so we could more easily disassemble to try and correct the problems. Very informative video however, especially the washer advice at the end.
This is the best! Just the best! I was very surprised to see what was shown. The joints move so fluid it’s hard to believe there were ratchets. This video is very well done. Thank you.
Man, thank you so much for this vid. Being a tinkerer myself, I tried taking the legs apart and came to the same conclusion: They used mushroom heads for assembly 🤦♂️ Stopped at that point. Tho I did hand drill a hole thru to the opposite end of the knee's screw hole so that I might use a longer screw and nut down the road when they really do become loose. For now, blue loctite is doing the trick.
Very informative. I was thinking about solving the knee issue the same way you described (disassembly and inserting a rubber washer inside the knee joint) but seeing how you showed the assembly, I’m glad I didn’t try to take it apart, since it’s impossible to do from the outside. I’ll definitely try your small plastic washer trick - did you literally just cut it to size from Marvel Legends packaging plastic? Thank you for this video!
It’s embarrassing on Hasbro that customers paid all this money and have to fix their issues on something they obviously knew was QC issue. Great video, so sorry you had such a hassle and couldn’t just enjoy your fig!
Nah, solid question. The Cricut is basically a CNC machine for crafting. You can cut stuff out on paper, foam, and other thin materials. They're cool little gadgets to have as a collector. You can make your own ACBA cutouts with them SUPER easy. I've also used them to make comic logos to put on my shelves to spice them up. I think my model is the Cricut Air Explore 2. They have their own software for design. In this case I just measured how big the opening was where the screw head went it and made a circle that size. Then measured the screw and cut a hole in the middle that size.
Great Video I have life and subscribed to your channel. Where exactly did the washer to? Behind the purple? ,against the black ratchet or just at the top of the screw? Any help will be appreciate it!!!✊
@@SocraticMind89 True, but collectible value is also affected by supply and the original cost. They made a ton of these and they were $350 which is probably why they ended up around $500 to $600 eventually.
any chance you can do something on the torso and arms? mine came with a very loose torso and left arm/elbow/hand. i cant get him to stand straight up, so i have him kinda hunched over. it doesnt look horrible and is sturdy in that position but for the price id love to have full functionality lol.
@@FigureHeadReviews thanks. I actually took a try at it and there's a few screws under the back plate but I didn't have a screw driver long and thin enough to reach the screws. The arm has the same plates/covers as the legs but I wasnt able to pry them off without damaging the surrounding area. The wrist and hands look like a lost cause unfortunately. Tightening the legs helped me get a little better posture out of it.
The second one. Doesn't really feel like the ratchet is any better or worse, but the added pressure makes it pretty strong. I had him posed in a wide stance and was shaking my table, very sturdy.
Super excited I just bought a Cricut machine for my wife's bday this summer. Also Don't pay attention to the idiots that, "Hey I don't believe you". Reminds me of....... Tommy: 'Hey, I'll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher's ass by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it?' Customer: 'What? I'm failing to make the connection here.' Tommy: 'No, I mean is, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass. No, wait. It's gotta be your bull.' LOL!!
so it comes down to poor assembly not enough screw tightening. oof. Maybe there too many orders for them to get out on time and rushed it at the factory level to meet shipping expectations.
@@FigureHeadReviews i kno its hard plastic however I've had success wit boiling water. Doesn't have to be 100%high i only go bout 3/4 high on the temp. Has to be boiling water, hot water not good enough cuz it's cooling down as it sits there. Plus the water reaches where the heat gun can't. Get a big pot and a big spoon/ladle fill the pot wit water(fill not shallow). Make sure the part is sitting on the spoon not bottom of pot. Let it sit in boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes. Use non metal tool to pry at the point do not pull at edges if at all possibleDo this and the clips should soften enough to remove without breaking. If you've done this exactly and it still not work I don't have much more for you without doing it myself. 😅
So the big problem are the discs. If somebody could 3-D print an exact replica of those discs but extend the teeth on the disks by a half a millimeter. You would be all set. And then you’d have to figure out how to get those plates off. The problem here is they can come off they have to because they assembled it. Try heat.
This is even worse than Hasbro not including ratchets at all. To have them in there but so poorly designed that they do nothing. And to add insult to injury, it's designed so you can't even take it apart yourself.
Think about it like a car: You’d probably give a brand new car a once-over and confirm the lug nuts are tight and other simple fixes. Or maybe like a computer where you go through and uninstall all the shovelware the manufacturer installed. A washer is easy. Loctite is easy. Yeah, you shouldn’t have to do it and the ratchets should engage more than they do. It’s just not that big of a deal once you know what the fix is.
@@thx3188 problem is where the repair is needed your more likely to break it! And it's not that simple it's a 400$ figure! You shouldn't have to fix anything!
The ratchets are very weak, i disassemble my third party megatron (bmb ls12) and discovered a much bigger teeth, like 3 times larger than this, that joint is so weak, it wont hold any dynamic poses. I can't disassemble my Neca, but i am sure Neca's ratchets are more robust and with more larger teeth (judging by the clicks). This is a very disappointing figure overall.
Without dumping fuel on the fire, what if anything has Hasbro said about this. I’m imagining this problem on a $400 Galactus. For that amount of money it sure is disappointing how cheap the construction is.
Collectors shouldn't have the need to do that for that price point. Hasbro should've partially refund the payment for their Haslab Fix-A-Figure Sentinel blunders. Boo-hoo! 🤣 #Sentikneel
Would of been nice if you *ACTUALLY SHOWED* the results of your custom washers! Like show how the knees don't flop down when posed doing a kick or you holding it flat up in the air. Like show it! Don't just say it!
I mean...have you seen other videos where people did this? If so, would you expect different results when I do it? A stiff knee is a stiff knee. Only reason I can think you'd want to see it is that you don't trust me. Which I'm not sure why that is.
Like the other comment, I'm not sure where the trust issues come in on this. There are dozens of videos of stiff knees out there, I'm not sure why I needed to show something that isn't difficult to take me on my word.

To be fair, it wasn't fully assembled!

On the screws that I point at when talking about the washer.

So, does this mean tightening the screws won't cause damage to the figure?
As long as you don't over tighten you should be fine. I just hand tightened and applied less pressure once it stopped turning. No need to torque it.
Do the ratchets engage once you tighten it with the washers or is it just a tighter friction joint effectively?
The second one. Doesn't really feel like the ratchet is any better or worse, but the added pressure makes it pretty strong. I had him posed in a wide stance and was shaking my table, very sturdy.
I just submitted a knee replacement surgery claim to my insurance, fingers crossed.

someone mentioned in another reply that loctite held it in place well

Hard to say. If anything positive can be said, it's that I hope they learn from this and address it with Galactus!
Maybe if you heat up the plastic with hot water then try to pull on the piece.
Tried it. The type of clip and plastic used aren't really impacted by heat.
Boil &pop is your friend🤫

Or try rubbing some alcohol on the rubber disc surface to increase the coefficient of friction
