I just went to see it today, it’s so spectacular and very well done. Hope it comes out on DVD & Blu-Ray someday.
Even digital! I would love to see it via digital!
@@sakurapablo671 there is some special news about that right here!! ua-cam.com/video/uxZs1aT52Kk/v-deo.html
I saw it yesterday, it was amazing
Totally agree 💯💯💯💯💯💯!!!
The production quality was CRAZY it was truly amazing....
The actor playing Yuba-ba here is Mari Natsuki and she played Yuba-ba in the movie too. She rocks!! For me she's one of the coolest Japanese fashion icons of her age.
오 몰랐던 사실!

This looks so well done. I give the actors huge props. Loved them, the scenary, and the props. It looks to be extremely well done. If only it went on tour in the us though
You can check to see if your local theatre is showing it on one of their screens. Not the same as a live performance, but better than nothing.
It was good

Fun Fact: Yubaba👵’s actress, Mari Natsuki, actually did voice acting of Yubaba in the original film *20 years ago* .
Waw,😂
I think everyone knows that bro!
リン役の人ずごいい😊
That lady playing Yubaba is having a great time.
I think she’s the original voice actress from the movie who voiced both Yubaba and her twin sister Zeniba as well.
It's her original voice actor, Mari Natsuki!
1:07 When she was smile and walking with the fans in her hands I started to laugh hehe. 😂😂
I’m surprised it took them so long to make a play of one of Studio Ghibli’s most popular movies
I know, right? Maybe the only or one of the only films to be recognized and awarded by the academy. And it's 20 years old this year.
@@CophinRuinz0rKestra so true
@LoftyRex im watching that next January :)
@kingdomofau1728お前が日本語学べ
I am glad it took them a long time because it means they made it very carefully.
風ちゃんのリンさんがすごくリンさんでリンさん☺️👍
Kanna Hashimoto is killing it as always
I am convinced that the theater can capture the magical of Ghibli animation unlike the live action movie which COULD NEVER!!!!
….there was a live action movie?
I dare not investigate.
@@cirrusB612 Luckily, there wasn't. And there never should be. I'm an avatar fan, so I know the risks of trying to capture an animated masterpiece in live action. And on that note "There is no Avatar live action movie in Ba Sing Se. Here we are safe. Here we are free."
I believe it all depends on the director and the production team. I do believe that amazing live action movies based on animated movies/series can be created but they keep turning out mediocre because: they don't have enough budget, or the director doesn't know the essence of the original animated work, or just simply not skilled/talented enough, or they unnecessarily change stuff to suit their taste rather than respecting the original work.
@@navyblue8719 You're right, of course it depends. Anything that's taken on with passion and care can turn out well. Will it be the same as the animated movie? No, and it shouldn't be the same. But that doesn't mean it couldn't be great in its own way.
So tired of miserable people doing their best to stop creativity with their pessimism. There'd be no stage show without someone deciding to ignore the naysayers and adapt the film to a stage version. To be fair I wouldn't want to see a live action version made only for profit but if someone genuinely loves the material and wants to try their best to adapt it then all the best to them.
リンのクオリティえぐいな
This is the first time watching Kanna do a Theater act. Really love this.. Love how she grows more as an Artist/Actress, rather than just being a Celebrity in general.
WOW!!! Just the trick with the rope is just one of those little details that makes a huge difference!!!
So glad the play was recorded for international audiences. I am seeing Spirited Away tomorrow afternoon. I am so excited.
im also wondering where you can watch it?
Man I wish there was a dvd of this or something because I’m gonna miss out on seeing this :(
I’m hoping we get a dvd of this down the line.
They're going to sell one but they haven't announced the date yet
@@factuallyfictitious Have they announced that they’re selling a DVD eventually? I couldn’t find any announcements on that
@@factuallyfictitious Then I hope they do one for the Totoro stage production as well! they both look so good

I saw this last night - STUNNING!!! I loved every second
Me too! Loved the song and dance right after this scene
@@PixelisedPaul yes, jist saw it yesterday and There was standing ovation after that dance sequence.
I just went to see this and I am blown away by how the craft, detail and love they put into this show. Spirited Away was one of my favorite movies growing up and I reared up seeing this. This a magnificent work of theatrical art that was made with love and passion!
Hi @jordanvanray I live in London and plan to go see live too!! It seems like all actors performing in Japanese but I cannot speak that language...would you mind share how it works? Like , if there's a subtitle on a screen besides the stage or something?
@@itsannaheart I think they might have a subtitle screen in person but I went to see it on the movie screen.
I saw this on Sunday, and I was soo freakin impressed! The acting, the cast, the visuals, just everything was sooo on point!
That rope trick looks really good. I had to rewind it a few times to figure out how they did it
I still can't figure it out lol. Clearly magic! :p
Same here, watched the stage movie over the weekend and wondered how the rope trick works -- finally going frame by frame here, great effect !
I also didnt get it 😢
she didn't throw the rope down, she threw it back and people down there unfolded their own rope.
Actors who act live are probably some of the best types of actors out there!! This really proves this
Absolutely wonderful!!! Spirited Away is one of my favorite films of all time, and this live performance is full of magic and beautifully done!!! If I could go see this live, I assure you I would be enthralled the entire time and cry too! Wonderful cast, puppetry, stage design, orchestra, everything!!
やっぱり湯婆婆は夏木マリだわ
Genuinely surprised at how good this is, almost perfectly captured the charm of the animation with pure stage act. That rope trick at 0:50 is super cool and there are many instances of such cases.
I kept replaying that part and I still can't figure out how it works 😭
i guess is magnetic
I think she just threw it behind her and the crew down stairs had a rope.
If you look at the girl in the pink yukata and the frog guy in white that is closest to the middle they are the ones handing out the rope to outside of the line and they connect the middle of the rope though the two girls that separated them. The bathhouse girl in the middle is holding, both ends of the ropes in one hand so you can't see where they over lap. Of course you are supposed to be looking at Yubaba.
@@angellover02171 I finally saw that after slowing it down to 0.25x. still it's amazing to watch it in real time.
I just saw this in theaters. You absolutely have to see this, I was blown away. Every detail was perfect. I loved it so much!!
I cannot wait to see this Thursday. I rewatched the movie yesterday. I just wish I could see the play in person.
I just saw this in the theater and it was SO GOOD! A really fun experience and so well done, I wish I could’ve seen it live
Do they actually perform on stage or just play a recording? 😅
@@tuongchu2867 it’s a recording of the stage play. It would be awesome to see them actually perform but I don’t think the theater company actually tours the U.S.
going to Japan this month unfortunately the tickets are around 4-6 hundred. So i think you got your money's worth with the theater experience.
Just came back from seeing this, and it was spectacular! The stage, the actors, the set, simply gorgeous! If you have a chance to see this version in the theater, I highly recommend doing so! 8/10❤️🔥
why not 10
im so excited to finally see this in its entirety!! the actress for yubaba sounds exactly like she does in the original japanese dub of the movie
update: I SAW IT. ALL OF YOU GO SEE IT. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING
Fun fact, it is her! In the showings with Kanna Hashimoto as Sen, Mari Natsuki reprises her roles as Yubaba and Zeniba from the movie!
@@revnolion6993 WAIT FR??? no wonder she sounds exactly the same as the original movie!!!!! thank u for telling me :D
@@revnolion6993 OMG IT'S HER?? YAAS
lin and yubaba sound exactly like the voice actors in the film, how amazing. this is such an impressive film to perform live on stage
Yubaba is the same actress, Mari Natsuki, I guess❤
Saw this last night (unfortunately the only time I had available to attend any of the screenings) and it was phenomenal. It was so cool to see ancient theatrical techniques used to such great effect here. It really captured the feel of the anime.
im so glad i got to see this version and cast in its entirety. its the definition of theatre!!!!
Mari Naksuki killed it onstage, ultimate leading lady shit. Yubaba had the biggest broadway diva energy
I went to see this on Tuesday and now I cant stop thinking about it. It was beautifully done. I cried and I laughed and I also felt like I was saying goodbye to my dear friends at the end. I want this on bluray.
Omg a live version of Spirited Away?! It's pretty cool
stage play

Saw it in theatres. So want to see it again.
I’ve seen it twice this week. When I was going again I was like round 2 Lol 😂
Looks fun and enjoyable too, high praise for the creative team, also all crew helps that makes this adaptation so wonderful.
Went to see this last Friday at the London Coliseum. Such a magical and wonderful performance.
I enjoyed this entirely. A bit long, didn't care for how up close it was at the movies because it was clearly designed for stage. Phenomenal set design!
Whoa the voice performance gave me the chills wow
I just saw this today. It was SO FUN! I definitely recommend!
This was honestly the most interesting piece of theatre i've been to see. The choreography of each character matches the animation almost perfectly, and the extended musical scenes were absolutely enchanting!!!
All the characters’ faces and mannerisms fit so well!
I'm so glad I was able to see this when it came to theaters. It is a masterful production.
I have only seen the MONE version of the other Chihiro role, but this video was recorded about 2 weeks after the play started. I saw the play several times, including the opening night, and the performance evolved each time.
She is truly a wonderful actress.
how was mone's version? I wasn't able to see hers :(
@@Entxq_ MONE's rich expression and sensitivity showed us a different Chihiro each time. The Chihiro of the movie existed on the stage.
I am sure that her performance, in which she was conscious from the top of her head to the tips of her toes, is completely different from the movie you have seen.
@@enchi6498 I saw a clip of her version and I thought she was rlly good! I’ve always loved her voice acting work and her acting for dramas, it’s a shame I didn’t get to see her version
@@Entxq_ You also watched the drama! This year I played C. Bronte's Jayne Eyre in a musical. It was wonderful. By the way, she is also a singer and sold out a hall of 10,000 people in 10 minutes!
This was absolutely wonderful!!! Just wonderful!!!!!!🎉
The characters are so accurate I'm immensely happy ❤❤❤❤
That rope magic trick is pretty neat...
Goosebumps all over my body. Wooooow!

와 정말로 완성도 높은 연극! 극장에서 보고싶어요ㅜㅜ
The highlight for me was that the set kept changing without the play coming to a halt. Amazing experience!
This looks so good and well done!!! I wish I could see this in real life 😢❤
We saw it last night! It was just absolutely incredible!
it's really great to see things that you love become true! Hope it comes digitally!❤
I saw it yesterday! i LOVED IT!! Such a talented cast and waa amazing, loved Yubaba
I would give anything to see any of these shows live!
Kanna Hashimoto is always a win. She's so cute.
I saw in US theaters, its is done very well and edits helped with focus on the storytelling and what you're supposed to focus on to understand the flow of the plot.
I wish they have this live in Canada 🍁
i love love to see spirited away
They sound just like in the movie ❤
Woow i first time just watch this video. wow how beautiful as if the cartoon happened in real life. The actors are beautifully dressed and play their roles perfectly.❤
This is something that I never knew that I needed in my life.
The way this stage accurately captured the spirit of the anime is astounding
I missed this in the theaters! 😭 Hope we can purchase it soon!
夏木マリ大好き
That rope magic trick was so cool
なんかすごくいい感じ。 結構、再限度が高いね。橋本環奈がキャラぴったりだな。(上白石ちゃんもね) リンもなんか似てるし。 面白そう。見に行きたかったなぁ。
Oh my god. Amazing.
This looks very well done and lots of fun.
I dont know how they did it but the rope bit was amazing. I'd totally watch it based on that alone
Look carefully. They each have a short rope.
They connect them together to make it look like one rope. I couldn't understand it at once even when I saw them live on stage.
Romi Park's acting is so cool
I’m so sad i missed this ;^;
Please bring it back again!!
Please come to Taiwan I really like this !!!💌
I know Yubaba threw the rope behind her but how did the other rope appear in front of everyone so perfectly??
I remember watching kanna hashimoto in kissing the ring finger!!!! She is perfect to play chihiro!!!
