How to Fix

  • Actually, not every damage in #LCD screen requires screen replacement.
There are repairable damage categories, and there are the irreparable ones.
For example, a broken LCD screen cannot be repaired. This kind of damage requires us to replace the LCD screen because obviously we cannot fix a broken glass screen.
For horizontal lines damage such as this, we still have hope to restore the image back to normal.
I myself tried it twice before I finally succeeded in turning on this LG TV back to normal.
As you can see for yourselves, only by using scotch tape, we can repair the TV with striped screen damage back to normal.
This method has been proven by many people who follow my UA-cam channel. You can try and prove it for yourselves.

Can vouch for this. My TV showed this problem in the afternoon, and tried this in the evening. Typing this as soon as my TV started working back.
The thing to understand here is that only a very small segment must be getting duplicated, so it's wise to start with a thin strip of cellophane tape. Start at the edges, and keep checking after applying each strip. It's more of a trial and error procedure, keep patience, and keep taping different areas and looking for the result, until it works.
Thanks a lot for this video, it's a gem.

I have the same exact problem with my LG smart TV but i'm afraid to do stuff like this like it could turn out worse.
EDIT: It worked! I was so shocked it actually worked. Thank you so much but there were little lines that are a bit visible but pretty much unnoticeable and a slight discoloration on the right side of the screen though it doesn't matter really because it is very watchable now.

    • @AshishKotnala29
      @AshishKotnala29 11 місяців тому

I know your comment is old and you probably replaced the TV by now but if you're curious why you saw faded lines (actually discoloration) on the other side, it is because you stopped the clock signals to that side of the display and now the display is only being generated from one side and the signal isn't strong enough to reach other side without loss. That is why there are two cables to generate same signal for both the sides. This solution isn't a fix but a workaround.

If anyone is wondering how it's possible that a piece of tape can fix problems of the panel here is what's going on:
There can be 2 types of ICs that are needed to drive the panel sections: COFs (Chip On Film), you can see them on the panel edges or COGs (Chip On Glass), you can't see them because they are inside the panel glass. The image is being composed using multiple signals, with age and especially heat (they produce a lot of heat), this chips go on short or break and the result is a shorted signals and the consequence will be lines on screen or picture problems. By adding a piece of tape inside the LVDS connector, you are going to insulate the shorted signal and fix the problem. But how it's possible that the image is still good after insulating the short? it appears to be the same but in reality there is a little quality decrease because it's missing one of the signals. So by applying this method you need to insulate as less pins as possible (only the shorted ones) to avoid more quality decrease.

Sometimes I got lines on all screen which affected the coloring of the whole screen. Other times I lost one or another color. Also on my first working try got some flickering.
At the end by covering only those pins, I got no lines and yellow tint on the left side of the screen. It's barely noticeable.

This is a super pointless reply. I doubt you’ll ever see it. However when you block those connections it does take away the lines but you’re losing some information still. So the colors may be off from one side to the other and may be more noticeable in darker or lighter scenes. It’s better than not being able to use the tv at all though. Certainly preferable to the horizontal lines too.

I released a video explaining what is going on when you do this. You are blocking the horizontal row signals on one side. The reason this works is that the signals are send to both sides of the screen. You most likely won't get a 100% perfect image this way. But the TV image can still look good enough.

You need to find the clock (row) signals that run to the half of the screen that has the problem. Then you block those signals. If interested, I have some videos that explain some more of why this works.
