Brilliant video love these old trams thats what Blackpool was all about for me as a kid great that they are still running on the prom keep up the good work ❤
I would love to see the film about the tram journey from Blackburn Town centre to Darwen Town centre as there is a picture of me taken at the Ewood football ground tram siding on February 1944. David Tolson.
Have they been granted full access back into Rigby road? I thought that other than workshop tours and maintenance of essential vehicles, they were excluded.
Yes, so for this event they parked 2 Trams in the workshop while the rest sat outside on the depot fan. The rest is still very much off limits except for very limited moves.
What generally happened was the driver got wet. It was standard practice in the early 1900s in all forms of transport (think horse and wagons etc) in regards to the water and electricity issue, it's a 550v dc current, which while still dangerous, isn't as dangerous as ac current. I'm not an expert but they didn't seem to suffer any problems from water and electricity.
Quite a few of Blackpools Heritage trams have them. All modern LRT trams do also. The Centenary cars were built with them, while others had them added later in life.
@@alanoliver535 I don't think the tail lights where switched on when it was shunted out. Certainly they all worked when it left to go into service as the pre service checks were done once it was on the fan and it would have been stopped if they didn't work.

I hope you had a great time. I think that was the first traditional (non wide door) tram to go to North Station.

2.10-3.20 The driver standing, without a seat, without a window in front of him. What happened when it rained? Water and electicity together?
