    The only thing I love about Dubs is that.. luxury cars are dirt cheap there, but then again.. it's always covered by dirt. Spent 6 months working in dubs in 2007 and, nothing to shout about, everywhere shawarma and hookah. Glad I'm back in Malaysia with greenery, spectacular choice of food and the tropical islands. More money too..

    Dubai is a nice city but the biggest con for me is the feeling that it is soulless. Old Dubai has a soul but in most cases that is not why people are in Dubai. Also it sometimes attracts a particular type of person that is overly impressed by money, glitz and glamour. In the UK it might appeal more to new money whereas old money might see it as ghastly. Nevertheless, soulless or not it is a good place for an escape holiday where you know it is fake but are happy with the service and relaxing holiday.

    Went there on holiday a couple of times and loved it, after school I moved there for a year and worked as a waiter. Finally, I saw the true Dubai, their treatment of Indian laborers and Phillipinos. They (especially their youth) disgusted me. Confiscation of passports, physical abuse, sexual abuse, imprisonment of women who fall pregnant out of wedlock along with wrongful and indefinite imprisonment of foreigners. An absolutely awful people. But hey, it's clean, safe and very fancy...

    I've been to Dubai several times and will be going back in a few weeks. First, the weather is not a big deal. It all depends on where you are coming from that you are comparing Dubai to? i live in Los Angeles, and in L.A. 9 months a year it's identical to the weather in Dubai, and in June or July in L.A. it even gets hotter Dubai, so it's all relative. Yes, I've spent many months in Ukraine over the last 20 years and it's not fair to compare Ukraine to Dubai period. Second, if your like me, you want to see new and beautiful cities like Dubai, not some run down place with homeless people everywhere, like Bangkok. Thailand. Next up, prices. I've looked at prices for a one bedroom apartment in the marina district and it's cheaper in Dubai by a lot verses L.A. and the food in the Marina mall was way less expensive then anyplace in California. If you want to buy a property in Dubai (I've already checked) and again it's cheaper then where I live. Mass transit in Dubai parallel's the freeways which is the greatest idea since sliced bread. Unlike L.A. where there is no mass transit to speak of, and L.A. without a car is impossible to get around to to it's size and population. So as you can see, it depends on what city you are comparing to Dubai that makes a difference, not just Dubai is this or that. I've traveled to more then 40 countries and every state in the U.S. and Dubai so far is more beautiful then any city I've traveled to, period full stop. Also, if you've never traveled to the states, then you have no idea how hard Americans work and how many hours a day they spend working. Unlike Ukraine, Americans on average work about 9 or 10 hours a day. I work sometimes 12 or 14 hours, so again, you are comparing Ukraine to Dubai and some other countries as well. In France they work 32 hours a week and they get 8 weeks for vacation a year. That is a joke. Most countries are not like that, so yeah, working in Dubai might be a little harder then Ukraine but you are not comparing two similar cities or countries. And for the record, I've traveled to Odessa, Crimea, Kharkov, Kyiv, Sumy, and Dnipro in Ukraine, so i am very versed with your country.

    • @Kate-qq3ez
      @Kate-qq3ez 2 роки тому

      No in France official working time is 35 hours per week. But you can work more after 35h each additional hour is paid with a 25% bonus on the hourly rate. Moreover for the jobs like managers, there is no 35 hours per week but a maximum of working days by year. (With some rules like a minimum of 11 hours of rest between 2 working days, etc.) And the legal vacation is 5 paid vacation weeks per year. Of course some companies can give you more !

It's a two way blade. Dubai is attractive to live in in terms of its infrastructure & services. But nature wise and long term plans, there's not much in it. I just wish every expat who live in Dubai will contribute something big to their home country like create more jobs & stability so less and less expats of next generation will have to go to another country or be born there and never call it home. My sis was born there and studied but never got to finish highschool and go to college there bcoz of increasing school fees. I hope everyone realize that the only true home we have is our motherland---our own country

    Couldn’t agree more what she said. Although this place is a second home for expat but never like really homey. Coz let’s put it this way, consider your visa is your life as an expat. You need to renew it every 2 yrs or it depends whatever visa you have. And most people their visa depends on their employer, and once you got kicked out of your job or lost your job, you need to fine another job quickly.

    I think I've an interesting question: how does Dubai cope with married couples, where the woman is a Muslim and the man not? I know that in Dubai they can't get married, however, there are no religious boundaries in Western countries. What happens if such a couple moves to Dubai?

    Have been to Dubai several times, just in a holiday capacity and what strikes me as odd/interesting is I see a lot of lights switched off in the apartment blocks say in the Marina/JBR etc. And I'm wondering are these unsold, unrented, or just holiday homes that are only occupied briefly?

      In my opinion it’s the case of oversupply in real estate sector, some might react that statistics may say different, better to see the statistics report on supply and demand. Since dubai won the expo it has built a lot of projects for the coming 25M visitors for the event.

    My fear is that in Dubai it is very hard to hook up with attractive women who are not hookers and/or have grossly inflated expectations due to all the money around. I bet it’s worse there than it is on the Côte d’Azur where basically most good looking single non-local woman is either a hooker or gold-digger.

      To be honest not that much, in my expierence, living in London and Milan is more expensive, Dubai could be super cheap if you like to try indian or pakistani food and are not too picky to choose a new nice apartment in a quite far from center area.

      @@mustansir2581 Uhm, not that much but says Dubai is expensive is not totally true; yeah, you can pay 10.000€ for a dinner but you can also pay 2€ for a full meal. In Europe for example is impossible. There'se people here living with 4-500€ a month and making savings. Apart from that, a usual meal in an expat area is about 6-10€, in Milan and London was more expensive; a kebab in Switxerland was 15€! Also housing, with 10k€ a year you can rent a 2 bedroom apartment in a modern and clean building with a parking space and resident's pool and gym; try to find it in western countries.
      I'm living with same salary I was having in italy but I'm saving more so how it could be more expensive here!
