Hey! Loved to hear that you're excited about designing! Dont fret at all if you think fashion design is not for you. There are many many more streams to design and let me give you a tiny overview and you can study them in detail and find what fits best for you.
Here are the courses you can pursue at NIFT:
Fashion Design: designing fashion- starting from concept, illustrations, fabric, stitching, photoshoots, makeup, etc.
Textile Design: Designing fabric - weaving on big looms, learning different methods of dyeing fabric, embroidery, designing prints for the fabric on digital softwares and much more.
Lifestyle and Accessory Design: Home Decor and Products- it includes designing interior design products, furniture, jewellery, and much more. With additional education on 3D softwares.
Fashion Communication: Teaches you how to design any method of communication. You learn to build brands, make advertisements, photography, fashion styling and photoshoots, graphic design and more.
Leather Design

Knitwear Design

Hiii sis...I'm Thrisha ...from tamilnadu...I'm 18 now...my parents were forced me to join in B.E...and I joined too...but my fault is ...I missed nift exam...so I have plan to attend exam next year 2021...can you please suggest me that...did i want to go for any classes to score good marks...orelse it's better to go with empty minded...now I'm feeling very bad...I didn't know to do...you had experience well...and you can give some ideas for further move...please try to reply my comment when you are free...waiting for reply...

Hi Thrisha, you have a very nice name. I want you to reconsider if you want to leave BE for NIFT. You can always finish your graduation and then go to NIFT for post graduation. But if you really want to join NIFT in 2022, you will need to prepare. Practice sketching and coloring, and maths and general ability questions. You can buy a book to prepare if you want. Otherwise, do practice sample papers and previous years papers that you find online. This will prepare you for round 1. For round 2 (The Situation Test - which happens if you clear round 1) you will need to practice making 3D objects from paper, cloth and other materials. This test is only of 2 hours so speed really matters. You can check for the questions of this test online too. Then you'll receive the result and your overall rank. You will get to choose one campus out of 16 according to your rank.

Yes, with a category rank of 52, you will have many options. However, the final available seats till your turn comes will be informed later by the website only. But do not worry, just decide which trade you would want to select from Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory Design, Leather Design or Knitwear Design. Yes, for assignments, Fashion Design students have to create the whole garment themselves which includes illustrations, making patterns, sourcing fabric, cutting draping and stitching the fabric
