I have had one for years and probably beat it more than any other knife I've owned and it is still going strong.

"It's billed as a machete." No, ESEE refers to it as a knife, though they do say that the original Junglas 1 was designed to be a cross between a fixed blade knife and a machete.

Junglas is the better heat treat and probably a bit less prone to failure or chipping than bk9 and then there's the esee warranty. Bk 9 gets more shit done. Better chopper, better batoner, better stabber, better de limber

Hey there. My friend Ryan K. At the Meaford hardware store said we may have some knife stuff in common. I looked at your channel and saw right up front there’s a vid on a Hunglas. I haven’t watched the vid yet but would love some back and forth (I’ve owned one since they came out and there’s a few trad long bows I cut out there)

Hey Kevin. This seems pretty wild. I’ve never made speak over inter webs before. But hey, I’ve got super sharp stuff that’ll speak for itself lol. I’ll try to attach pics.

I've been collecting Big Choppa's and Survival Knives for a Long Time and I always wanted to get the Esee Junglas , I've seen all the videos and listen to everyone Bragg about the Junglas and how it's such a Great Choppa , so I finally broke down and bought one about 6 months ago and let me tell ya I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED , don't get me wrong it's still a Good Knife and probably more of a Large Survival knife because of the way its weighted but Definitely Not the Great Choppa everyone Bragged about , the Rtak II is a bit better at Chopping IMO and I'd take the BK9 over the Junglas all day as far as a Survival Knife . I have other Big Choppa's that Totally Blow the Junglas Away , like the Tops El Chete and the Kershaw Camp 14 .... Can't wait to see the Full Review though .....👍 🖖

That's right on and I don't understand why people would think it's a dedicated chopper. The Junglas is a great large camp/machete/survival knife but can't touch the Tops El Chete or Bestia for pure chopping power and general tomfoolery.

I live in Northern PA Appalachia....if I need to do serious chopping it's with an axe and/or saw. I'm not wasting my time hacking away at frozen hardwoods with any "choppa knife."
That said, there clearly is merit in such blades and it really comes down to WHAT are you chopping and HOW THICK is it?
I can easily get away with my Junglas in a Northern winter environment if I have a proper sleeping bag because I'm not reliant on all night fires for warmth. I would just need to process small wood up to wrist thick the most for cooking and utility fires......the Junglas is plenty of blade for that.
Honestly, I don't know what you're chopping something like the Junglas is too light for lol. Carrying around a Junglas is already heavy enough with other gear I wouldn't want anything bigger and heavier because at that point just bring an axe/hatchet for major tree trunk chopping and splitting.
A great combo is a Junglas with a Silky BigBoy2000. They're the same length when the saw is folded up. To me, if a Junglas is too "wimpy" for a given task then I'm just going straight to an axe, really. I'm not a fan of hacking away at giant oak trees all day long with a large knife.
I actually would prefer my 18" or 24" Tramontina machete over something like the Junglas or any other "choppa."
