I have coarse hair that lays flat and lifeless. A lot like some Italian hair and sometimes I see Indians with similar style. Its frustrating because I blow dry it and style it. Looks good with decent texture but then in an hour or so it's just laying flat with little to no texture and looks really dry. Looks A lot like Chris Messina (the Italian guy in The Mindy Project tv show). Also I notice that it doesnt seem to absorb product. It's like product just sits on the hair shaft?Any pointers?

My problem is. I’ve tried multiple barbershops and I showed them pictures of what I want and explained also. They always say, “I got you bro” and at the end they just do what they want, doesn’t look the same. I went to a unisex salon and one girl was able to give me an ok haircut on the top, very close to what I wanted and texture, but she didn’t know how to fade and no one in the salon knew how to do a low skin fade. Any recommendations in New York, Long Island.

To be honest at this point even I can’t really find a good hairdresser where I live so at the moment I’m thinking about cutting my own hair. I think you should do the same? Heres some essentials from what I have.
*hair clipper set with guard attachments
* a trifold mirror- you can find some on Amazon I have one that goes over my bathroom door and three mirrors fold out so I can see a 360 view of my head.
*hair clips in case you want to section your hair on top and just cut the sides and back
* scissors and thinning shears if you want to cut your hair when it’s longer.
That’s probably the best I can think of but that should help out if you can’t find any decent barbers in your area.

@@skinnydee6719 no way inexperienced person can do a better cut than experienced barbers. Not even mentioning that cutting yourself is harder than cutting another person.

@@infiniteg7852 first of all it was just a suggestion. And a year old. Not something I’d suggest first anymore but it still stands that some people can’t find barbers that actually listen to what they want. So it happens. But each to their own. I still sometimes cut my hair and I always feel happier afterwards because I trusted myself with that despite the trial and errors. 💪

@@basedpatriotLT you can become experienced? 💀 yes it’s harder but Its still a great skill to have when nothing’s available like how it was in lockdown. Even my brother cuts his hair and it looks good. Just takes more time and depends on what style you’re doing.
