Hi, maybe you can make a video on a micro apartment somewhere in sumida-kun? it would be much appreciated =)
Thanks for your comment.
Are you planning to move to Sumida-ku, Tokyo?
What are the room requirements?
@@usui503 yes planning to move april. maybe something similar to the one in the video would be cool or maybe 13-18sqm? a place that could fit atleast two people and of course reasonable price if we could find something that's around $500 that would be great ☺️
Watch this video!😎
ua-cam.com/video/kIB-nVMjeWI/v-deo.html
Long narrow rooms are hard to place the furniture. I prefer the room to be more square.
Gostei do quarto longo, dá sensação de amplitude. Móveis só desmontados entram.
That was the saddest and most depressing apartment! I could not bear to live in such a place as that one.
I agree awful 😢
I feel like the only thing these should be used for is temporary accommodation for the homeless while they find something better!
It's like living in a camper van
@@alessiopricoco4423 At least with a camper van, you can travel somewhere. In this apartment, you're just sort of stuck in a cell. 😣
@@alessiopricoco4423 The camper van can at least move to different places for different views.
we can't romanticize this type of housing, This is torturous ! ! ! !
Why do the Japanese like glass walls and doors in a toilet. I really don’t understand why you would want to look at your toilet each time you entered or left your flat. Just the top third being transparent would allow the light in and keep the toilet out of eyesight. This place is far too narrow to be practical.
With how small this particular one is, I'd almost welcome the glass so I didn't feel trapped in there.
That is not an mirco apartment, that is a hallway you cannot convience me otherwise. No one and I mean no one should be subjected to this as a living situation that YOU are paying money for.
Haha 😂
For every apartment you visit, the more I prefer your current one.
I enjoy this apartment viewing series, but I think your current apartment is good. If the ceilings are high enough, you could get a loft bed for the room you have now. With the raised bed it will be possible to have a nice workspace, a small fridge and maybe some storage. This long room is really odd, and I feel stressed just looking at it.
This is a really good idea!
I don't think I can bear to live in such a narrow space.
Honestly, its not the worst. The light is lovely, its nice that the bathroom has a window and it uses what space there us very efficiently compared to some of the other places. The space would be challenging to fit sleeping arrangements and literally anything else, of course. A floor futon and folding table/chair set that goes on wall hooks when it's unused? That one's tricky and you've definitely showed better apartments on this channel.
Japan needs bigger apartments, too small is not good for mental health, is like living in a bird cage, not healthy. Thank you for sharing.
I was thinking this- no wonder so many Japanese speak of being lonely. There’s no space to look outside and see the world, or space to invite others in. And in most other places you’d be ‘forced’ to share an apartment. Issues with roommates- sure…but much less lonely!
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. 😊 This may be my least favorite room so far. Very much like living in a hallway.
I don't struggle with claustrophobia, but this particular one definitely makes me feel that.
No good, A great sense of opppression .
I feel like you either can only have 1 furniture (a bed and nothing else) or have to make everything foldable/portable. Like, sleep on the floor on a futon, work on a folding table also on the floor on a zaisu (but this might destroy your posture if you do it for hours everyday, I've tried it before). This unit is definitely made for someone who is either never home or doesn't mind all the inconveniences to save money. But I feel like you can definitely find bigger rooms that are 75000 yen/month.
🤔😕😝
Encontrarás otro mejor,Usui,no te desanimes😊
Un abrazo desde España!
Gracias por tus vídeos, son muy chulos👍
🥰🇪🇸
What is the issue with see-through toilets? Could they just use frosted glass? 😮
I don't see you living there ! 😂 Hahaha Only good thing was the toilet was turned away from the entrance lol I never thought this xould be such a fascinating journey when you started this channel !
Keep looking, my friend! That unit needs more storage in the hallway, and a living room that is twice the size, or rent that is half of what it is.
Expensive rent. No room for anything decent . Claustrophobic and that cement ceiling pfft! I know space is at a premium in Tokyo but this one is a big
N O 😊❤🇬🇧💕😘
Usui, no, no...not this one. Far too expensive for a little "hallway". It doesn't even have enough room for a bookshelf if you wanted to buy some of those ancient books!
It is so small, the humidity from bath and kitchen will ruin ancient books.
@@user-ov4wr5yu4r Vey true, I didn't think of that :)
Using a foldable futon as a bed is a good option. I love this microespace.
The living area is too narrow and short for me to make it work.
I also find strange that the shower has a curtain for privacy, but the toilet does not.
I think the curtain is just to reduce splashes. But yeah the bathroom could use some frosted film.
Privacy from whom? Nobody is seeing you in that tiny apartment.
Love that you have included the dimensions of the living room/bedroom it really give us an idea of the size of the room and think about the placement of furnitures and the most important thing: refrigerator! For this apartment i think it would only work if you get a loft bed with the ladder at the end of the bed instead of at the side.
Your current apartment still is the best one ! Maybe get a heavy duty metal rack / shelf so that you can stack a mini refrigerator on top of the washing machines? Your washing machine is quite expensive , it would be a shame if you have to sell it in order to move to a new apartment that comes with a washing machine.
😲 the micro micro apartment. Speechless!
I think you can have a small fridge on top of the kitchen, put the induction cooker on storage. Buy a folding table with wheel. Use it as a prep space. Place the cooker on the table when you use it. Move the same table when you need to work by the window. At night, fold the table and put it by the window. If you don’t cook often put the table folded by the window by default. Folding bed is a good idea too. Better than the loft bed idea.
These are great ideas! Multifunctional.
Could use a sofa bed.probably could use some ideas in this clip
If a small fridge can work for you then I would put it on a cart or storage cupboard so the top is even with counter. Otherwise it seems very expensive for a tight narrow space. If you work from home there doesn’t seem to be room for both your bed AND a desk, and that bunk bed platform doesn’t seem like it would work.
Humans have some very basic needs. This does not satisfy even with your wonderful suggestions. I think it's a bad idea.
@@lowwastehighmelanin you’re right. I think the current one where Usui san is staying is still the best lol. If the only problem is a fridge and he could tolerate bunk bed or folding bed then the current one should work too.
Never choose this😂😂😂
One of the less livable rooms at 75000Yen ... would not recommend it really.
It looks like the cabin hotel you stayed a while ago!
The cost on this one was definitely higher than I expected, but I guess it may be due to the location.
You should create a scale on which to rate each one: 🕸🕸 I give it 2 webs out of 5. It's too narrow and not cheap enough.
إيجار مكلف و مساحة ضيقة مع الأسف لم تعجبني الشقة 🤗 شكرا لك 💜💜💜
Small fridge with shelf cabinet to sit on top of it. Build a raised bed on top of two small dressers that face each other under the bed. The top drawers will be removed as they will not be able to access. The space can be used for books/ papers to slide into. Try to find dressers tall enough that you will comfortably fit underneath the bed when sitting on the floor. Add comfy cushions/pillows/fairy lights. Herbs at the window. Better than homeless.
That's a very expensive rent for a place that isn't very versatile. It's quite unlivable. Clearly there are cheaper places with better layout, judging from your previous videos.
Im not sure if this would work, but a small fridge should go next to the kitchen, with a table OVER it. This will extend the kitchen counter top + give a place to eat. Next to the fridge a bed, which also would be the seat for the table to eat on.
Underneath the bed should be drawers, for storage.
For more storage, hang more hangingcabinates-> in the bathroom an one next to the window or above the bed
As a person who love small places and doesnt have much thing accept for my lovely PC , this is a perfect room to live actually. But the price is kindda a bit higher than i thought
I think space-saving furnitures are the best choice for this kind of room, usui-san. Like a sofa bed, folding table, etc. You can fold and store your clothes, socks, and daily necessities in storages that can also function as chair... Yep, something like that. And a drying machine is a must.
Forget the step down, instead create a false floor & underfloor storage area. Go with the loft bed, an e-book library & keep only invite over close friends.
Not a bad place at all! I like that the bathroom is near the entrance and away from the living area. The shower has a window! The step down in the living room is also nice... It creates a separation from the kitchen to the living/sleeping area... I love the idea of a loft bed! The murphy bed is a great idea too! Remember micro living isn't for everyone... And each person should choose the compromises they are willing to make!
I like the layout of this apartment too. It’s very small of course, but I think it could work, especially if you aren’t home much. I thought it a bit expensive for the size, though.
Sometimes I have to remind myself we are looking at micro apartments, and leave my North American big room expectations aside. Overall though, the length is nice, but even as a micro apartment, it is a bit narrow to be useful for more than just eating and sleeping. I'm curious how this building was originally designed/built. These past couple of apartments is as everything has been an after-thought rather than designed to be livable.
Thank you - another great video. Now, would it ever be possible to see some of these furnished? Am wondering how people do it successfully - that might inform my thoughts about how to make them work.
Whoa, I blinked & missed the entire room. I could not live there.
This one looks.. challenging.. I would choose elevated bed with storage underneath. Maybe you could even squeeze a table somewhere.. I don’t know if it’s allowed to hang a folding table on the wall.. it would save some space
This long and narrow layout gives people a lot of pressure, not to mention it’s difficult to place furniture. The rent is not cheap compare to the others you visited
Too narrow and expensive. Needs to be 3ft wider. As is though, desk by the window, fridge where you suggested. Futon bed. Storage?
Living in Jinbocho and not having space for books is like a Twilight Zone horror plot twist
You're right!
I would like a bookshelf.🥰📕📗
Quality district but too expensive. Narrow space is not cozy.
I'm so confused why the shower has a privacy curtain, but the toilet has no privacy options!
I know people probably won't be hosting a lot of friends in a micro apartment. But you might want to at least have a friend or family member over occasionally. you can't do that in this apartment at all, unless you want to watch each other use the toilet.
First, what is up with the bathroom walls ALL being in glass? I can understand 1/2 glass wall for light at the most but not 100% glass wall. The rent in US for this is too much, not worth it. There is absolutely no storage and the ceiling is low
Olá Usui! Este apartamento foi o pior de todos já mostrados, muito apertado. Mas gostei de ver o homem de ferro😊, continuem se esforçando.😉🥰
Over $500 for this space? Too much. I think you have to continue searching. Your current apartment is better. Have you considered switching to a loft bed and then having your desk underneath? This will give you space for a small table or a comfortable arm chair in the space where you now have your desk. Or even a small fridge on top of the storage cabinet. How about floating shelves above your washing machine for additional storage? If your landlord is OK with it, floating shelves would be a good addition.
Cet appartement est épouvantable !
It's hard to arrange furniture in such a tiny room...
I think so too...😅
It’s a no no! This is a hallway with a toilette! 😉
Well it is so narrow to try to figure out where to put the furniture
And again with glass wall on bathroom
Not sure this would be the one for you
Have a great day and see you in the next video
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the 💖
Square shape is better for organising then the long type. The area around is nice. But I think the area is everywhere nice in Japan and South Korea 🥰
Hi Usui, l hope you and Spider-Man had a lovely Christmas, l think it’s a little bit small ones you get your bed in you have got no more room, l also like how you always look at the toilet roll holder in all of the Apartment’s l find it funny ,l do like the bathroom l like the window and that you can open it and still have privacy . If we don’t get to see you again before the New year have a fantastic one for you and Spider-Man 🧧🍾🥂take care and see you in your next video.Xx💕💕🤗🤗xx
the sensation living on the hallway
Good morning Ussui. This apartment looks like the one where when you opened the door you could see the toilet (horrible, really)... Although this one has a much better appearance and finishes, however, the fact that everything is practically like a hallway does not convince me, it seems to me which greatly limits the ability to operate as well as making the most of the space comfortably. And as you mention, it is narrower than the previous one mentioned. No, I don't think it's an improvement over your current department.
Usui-San the more I see these videos the more I appreciate the layout of your current place! It’s perfect for you since you do not cook :-)
Love the neighborhood.
I could see this work for someone who needs a place to stay Monday-Friday, and staying in the countryside in the weekends. But it is difficult to fit much else than a bed there.
The bathroom is a good way to get a bathroom onto the apartment without walking directly into the toilet when opening the door.
I feel like this space wasn't meant to be an apartment for living in, it seems more like a place to sleep and shower for a few hours before heading back to work.😂
I like the toilet/shower room and the windows. But the rest of the apartment is really narrow.
I like this layout
Thanks for showing the room dimensions:) you read my comment 🎉 and happy new year
Besides the transparent wall bathroom, i dislike the room area has the floor level lower than the kitchenet/bathroom. If by accident the water runs it will soak everything down there
It is a corridor !😱 iknow such place exist in Japan , but there it is too much even if material are nice. Take care you and Mr Spiderman and Mr ironman
Thank you for putting in the dimensions.
Goodmorning!!!! I think you right, this is quite difficult😅💜💜💜
im a minimalist myself and i dont own much furniture but damn i cant live in such a tiny space and tiny kitchen
I like your use of model furniture, it really helps in visualizing the layout. I think I would use a loft bed and a smaller fridge with this layout. The lack of a fire escape on the fourth floor is concerning,
The sink would make it hard to wash anything. The long narrow living space would make it hard to put furniture.
Is the fan above the cooker vented to the outside? This is one foot smaller than my smallest apartment. The only good point is the washer dryer is included.
If the landlord is fine with the ceiling getting painted, and apply a privacy screen on the bathroom wall, it could be a cute little place. I would love the next to nothing bills, as the space is tiny. ❤
These videos made me realize I need at least 200 sq feet 😅
200 sq feet...😅
this is the worst one so far, and I don't understand why they all have washing machines taking up space, I'd rather have a fridge and use a laundrette.
This room is too long and narrow. As others say, square is better so it's not so cramped. Maybe 115sqft+, but 99sqft might be too small
This place makes no sense! Time to keep looking!!
A chair/bed would work for this flat, but the rent is ridiculous 🙄
I would go with a small fridge ride, with table space above it next to the sink. Storage along the sink wall. A desk, with open space underneath, taking up the entire window area. Store a futon under the desk. Sleep in the walkway of the living room at night.
This would be a temporary place until I could find something with a more living space.
Hello Usui ,
Oh dear I don't think you will like this apartment. Imagine been greeted by a toilet 🚽 when you get home.
"It's only handy if you need to wee in a hurry!too narrow and the room so small.
The ceiling not nice at all...and that window looks scary. 😢
This one is really tiny, I might put a loft bed like your option 1 so that there is working desk below
I love how your are showing now the room size with Meter and the little furniture to help understand how it is possible to arrange the bed / desk etc ... We know you are searching for an ideal micro appartment but it's quite difficult some time to To compare with your current appartment to see if it's better or not . Could you do the same with the little drawing and furniture with size of the room + rent of your current appartment ?
And to say I love your video !
It’s pretty narrow but I could make that work…has all the essentials just need a small fridge 😊
I like it, it's workable. Storage in the bathroom can be fixed. Just the fridge, wardrobe and bed placement is an issue, but I think it can be done 😊
There's not enough room to change your mind. Rent too high for a closet😢
This one is almost good enough. Has laundry machine but only a hanging bar and no closet at all. See through toilet area wall lets the light in but I would want to put a frosted glass look sheet on there for sure. Not liking to see my toilet every time I step in my home. There is no additional storage at all and not a lot of places to put a dresser or wardrobe. The windows aren't bad but the rent is too much. Maybe okay for student.
The rent is too much for a place that has no shelf for toilet paper storage.
The rent was a little high for this space and again with the fishbowl bathroom 😅🤦🏻♀️ I did like that the kitchenette had a little bit of counter space for food prep. Keep looking, Usui!
This is really nice too. You have two windows that open. You’re on the fourth floor so you don’t have to worry about tsunami’s so much. I’d like the bathroom I would put some vinyl on the bathroom door if that bothers you having it visible. I would take the vent off from the heat above in the bathroom and use that for toilet paper storage or you could roll your towels really tight and put them in front of the toilet paper, depending on how far back the vent goes before it disappears down into the building. :-). You need a storage unit near the front door. It didn’t look like it was flush to the wall so there might be enough room for shoe storage and if it wouldn’t take up too much space, you could extend the area in front of the stairs with a wooden box for storage so that you stepped up a bit earlier. I would go for the small refrigerator because I’m a vegetarian I don’t really need one. Maybe for beer :-). ceiling is nice no problem. Kitchen is great washing machine. Great. We need an upgrade on the induction cooker. And I would invest in some scaffolding! Because it seems like a lot of these places are small but have high ceilings. Although it is a bit of a cost investment, you can take them apart and move them from place to place. You can also make a study area underneath it. I know that you don’t like heights but that’s not very high. You can make it as high as you want. And also, it might help you with your phobia to slowly raise it. Two great windows small plants would be good I would go for small rugs set perpendicular to the length of the room just passed the kitchen. I haven’t got to the end of this yet because my Internet is so bad I’ve lost you once. If you do a loft bed, you need to get one that you can reposition the ladder. But seriously check out scaffolding They are very fun to mess with and make different combinations. 🎉
Do tenants typically allowed to drill holes or put nails on walls in Japan? If so, I could make this room work with shelves and racks. If not, then I think it would be very hard.
Nice design. Easy to build, hard to live... jaja
Use a futon. It's easy to store.
I like it.. I can live in that
Clear door where the toilet is? Uh, no.
You could get a futon or a loft bed. Maybe a chair that pulls out into a twin size bed.
this room only can minimalist person who ever to stay with small amount of items
🍩🥖☕️😋 it looks like an interesting area to live in 📚📖 however, the shape of the apartment is too awkward and I don’t understand why the washroom sliding doors are clear 🚽🙈🙅♀️😅 the search continues…
The only issue is that unless you can put privacy screen on the bathroom, can't have guests. I won't be able to have a wee, knowing that I am visible.😅
Bonjour Usui !
This apartment would give me anxiety
The room size is like a Goshiwon but more cleaner
