Really cool hearing different people passionately explain their top 5's....that shoutout to Lupe and He Say She Say was dope, one of my favorite songs by him
Goatcountry Musichead I’m honestly not a fan of kendrick. I feel like people are supposed to like him. Like we’re pressured to as if it’s expected. I actually think j rock is much better.
King of MF'ing Hearts I respect your opinion bro. What makes you not like Kendrick? Is it his style? Beats? Lyrics? His voice? Or flow? I really like Jay Rock and every artist in T.D.E. I think Ab-Soul, and Schoolboy Q are the best rappers in T.D.E., and are honestly better than Kendrick. But that’s just my opinion.
King Benny Garcia Tiers are only useful if you actually listen to more than 5 people..... And only if none of them say “aye, aye, ohh! Yeah, aye!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Earl Sweatshirt is definitely one of the greatest artists this generation I think he's like Nas in a way he doesn't really make a whole lot of noise but when he does come out with some music when he does want to drop something it's over.

Nas/Black Thought (Tie)- Too close to call here. Both have incredible technique and storytelling abilities
Thanks for the shout out at the end, brother! much appreciated. I also appreciate what you did with the shirt for this episode, hat tip! Great list! and well backed up. I almost fully agree, though I can't put Pac on m list, He would make my top 10 for sure, along with Biggie, but not top 5. DOOM would, of course, top my list, and I would likely put Kool Keith on there as well in the 5 spot to bookend the list in the 5 spot. To add Kool Keith I would likely then drop three stacks off of mine as well. so my middle three remain the same with 1 and 5 being pushed back into the larger top 10.
The Company Man I think DOOM and Kool Keith book ending my top 5 gives an idea of my interest in the genre. I love me some storytelling which is why I would keep k-dot, Hove and Lupe in there. In my top 10 I would all Chuck-D, Rakim and Q Tip but I can’t see them hitting the top 5.
When Reasonable Doubt was released, Jay-Z was older than Tupac ever was. I never forget this fact when thinking of their legacies and development. Who Pac would have grown to become in his thirties is the one intangible that has him clinging to my number one spot ahead of artists whose best work was made and released as they (and I) outlived him. I'll come back later and drop my Top 5.
Roaring Sun Cultural Impact, Influence, Body of Work, Bars, Hits, Longevity, Consistency, Wife, Money? Lol what else is Jay Z really missing? He literally has everything you need to have they GOAT status. Nobody in Hip Hop has a resumé better than Jay.
I get not everyone likes Pacs non-"super-lyrical " style... but the emotional/social/political weight behind his words are far more special to me than a bunch of hit(or miss) puns & metaphors. So depending on what style I'm on my top 5 is subject to change, but Pac is always my number 1
The amount of detail behind all your picks and how you tied all the qualities you loved into your number one is awesome and thoughtful much appreciated .
I think this is my favorite video on the internet. I love everyone on your list and seeing someone admit to not being on the Hov train at first gives me hope because I only just started liking Jay-Z 😀
I was too much of a shady aftermath/g unit fan as a teen. I didnt rock with Jay z until the Blueprint. First song I knew him from was Hard Knock life. However, he still made it into my top 10.. Oh yea Drake is the GOAT...yall will see
Barely comment on these videos, but I'm pretty new to hip hop, and these videos always push me to look deeper into hip hop and expand my horizons. Really love the content.
Great list . The 3000 number one kinda caught me by surprise but I get it. I could never disagree too much with a Lupe fan. But my top 5 would be: 5) JayZ 4) Kendrick Lamar 3) Tupac 2) Lupe Fiasco 1) Nas Now honestly my.top 3 are sometimes interchangeable as Nas and Lupe have many songs in their catalog that no other would make or think of. Pac was always my number because of his importance and being a fighter for the community and at such a young age making such a impact l. Pac was honestly just getting started. Funny you mentioned the Lupe song He Say She Say because I honestly remember letting a guy hear Food and Liquor because he kept saying the skateboard dude lol. Towards the middle of that song playing tears came from his eyes as he stated that it reminded him of his father. I advise everyone who listens to rap to listen to that album. Total classic but my favorite song on there probably is Just Might Be Ok. My top 3 is also my dream imaginary rap group. Their name would be FTP which stands for Feed The People.
I agree,i don't think pac was trying to be a rappity rapper... he just wanted his music to be felt and impactful.. but hey this dude in entitled to his opinion,we all like different things when it comes to music.
His music reflects the books he read; such as the prince, art of war ect.. books that teach you how to express yourself to the fullest potential, domination and how to achive victory in war.
“I didn’t know who Dolores Tucker was back then, for example but I knew she was A Mother Fucker!” 😂😂😂😂😂 Yo Fam those are my thoughts exactly. This is y I love your videos man. We think alike on a lot of topics
That Lupe breakdown was straight facts Justin, fire. My top five (in no particular order) is Tupac, Big Pun, Biggie, Nas and Eminem (the latter two are interchangeable with DMX and occasional A$AP Rocky). Keep it up Justin!
This list is dope. The picks are definitely different from a lot of lists but the way you break each rapper down with detail makes perfect sense and its dope
The amount of replay value for All Eyes On Me is unreal. If ever you go to Brazil, or any South American country at that...you will be hearing Pac without a doubt.
Jonathan Gomez hip hop overall rn is 1. Wayne 2. Kanye 3. Cudi 4. Kendrick 5. Drake 6. Future These are the people that most artist get their sound & style from or try to sound & style like.
Woww.. solid list. You've managed to cover the top 4 artists that I consistently listen to on a regular basis. Loved that you gave Lupe his flowers. I strongly disagree with your number 1 pick though, however, I do value your breakdown. I've yet to hear a song from Andre 3000 that moves me like Jay Z's Song Cry or Lupe's Ghetto Story or Kendrik's Keisha's Song, - his Sing About Me, - his The Art of Peer Pressure, etc. I'll kindly rearrange your list as follows: 1. Kendrick 2. Tupac 3. Lupe 4. Jay Z 5. ?? Slot 5 I'll leave open for BIG KRITT, Nas, Aesop Rock,Jean Grae or Eminem. An argument can be made for either one of these rappers to occupy this spot Seriously, your channel is the best hiphop outlet I've come across. Shout out to Shawn Cee for mentioning it.

*This gotta be the best "My Top 5 MCs" video I ever watched, alot of people name their favorite artist but they don't go in deep enough on why they like that artist*
My top 7( cause it’s 7 days in a week) 2pac, Hov, Nas, Common, OutKast( yes their are a group and get included) and Ludacris damn it this is difficult lol
Just wanted to say, I was kind of feeling down. I didn't have the best day, and it was getting late. I thought to myself, "what am I gonna watch... I'm not in the mood for anything". Then I thought, "hey maybe a company man video could boost my mood, but idk which one I could watch, I've seen a lot of them". A few minutes later, this video pops up on my feed. Really boosted my mood. Wanted to say, great video, always excellent content, and thank you for helping make my day a little better. 💯
Justin your Hip Hop commentary is amazingly insightful and on point, I am writing my second Hip-hop blog myself and I always look at your videos as confirmation, perspective and inspiration, salute to you.
I think the 10 biggest, most impactful, most influential rappers, in no order, would have to be: Biggie Andre 3000 Eminem 2Pac Jay-Z Nas Kendrick Big Pun Kanye Lil Wayne There is no greater list.
Those names are exactly in my top 10. The order of my list would Biggie, Eminem, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Jay Z, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Big Pun
Great video Justin, explaining in deed each choice, great work. I would love a video with you going through some of the other artists that didn't make it and the reasons for it.
I love to see that I’m not the only hip hop geek when I see you. The way you backed up your arguments on why you picked Lupe at number 2, I LOVE to see that, man! I do that same shit whenever I talk about hip hop. The passion is just so fuckin real. And I love to see this community of guys (and girls) who like bumpin’ 21 Savage, but also understand that Scarface is one of the best rappers of all time. Thanks man, much love from Holland!
Thank you again Justin. I appreciate you putting your top 5. It’s interesting how you break em down. But here’s mine and I do wonder what you think 🤔. 5.Lil Wayne 4.Biggie 3.Eminem 2.Tupac 1.Jay Z These aren’t all my era but the impact they made on the game is why they’re my top 5 and btw you’re definitely top 5 UA-camrs, keep it up brother👌🏾
My personal 5: Earl Sweatshirt (his incredibly bizarre sound and high relate ability always keeps me coming back), Cole (he consistently delivers some of the best punchlines in the game), Pac (I fucking love the poetry and subject matter he tackles in his jams), Kendrick (this guy is so complex I regularly find myself with a new perspective on almost all of his discography), and Outkast (I literally can't choose between André and Big Boi, they both tick every box for me. I just wish the latter half of their discography were more consistent)
Always love the insight One thing about 3 stacks/OutKast that never get discussed as much as it should is that they won an album of the year Grammy which is so hard to do for hip-hop/any genre that's not really traditional. My top 5 is Pac/Nas/Big/Em/3 stacks
So true what you said at the end, it's all about preferences and for me preference has and always will be a journey. As art influences us we influence each other and that represents the beauty and validity of one's own experiences. Keep up the great work Justin!

I don't even have Jay in my top 10. I got Pac in my top 2. But I never even thought of that age point. Tupac was so far ahead.
Very Interesting point!
I get not everyone likes Pacs non-"super-lyrical " style... but the emotional/social/political weight behind his words are far more special to me than a bunch of hit(or miss) puns & metaphors. So depending on what style I'm on my top 5 is subject to change, but Pac is always my number 1
Pac still has bars tho, it's just that people hate on him and base it off his mainstream hits
@@realg1804 yeah completely bro... So many people regarded Pac the goat for so long it just stopped being 'cool'. Same with anything popular
@@ceddynash5610 faxxx bro💯u speaking facts💯🙏🏽
Absolutely 💯
Pac was my number 1 den nd naw he is still my number 1 ❤❤❤❤💯💯💯🙌🙌👍😘😘😘
The amount of detail behind all your picks and how you tied all the qualities you loved into your number one is awesome and thoughtful much appreciated .
thank you!
No problem keep doing you!
I think this is my favorite video on the internet. I love everyone on your list and seeing someone admit to not being on the Hov train at first gives me hope because I only just started liking Jay-Z 😀
RESPECT! Yeah man, it took me a while to really get into it. Blueprint was the turning point for me.
I was too much of a shady aftermath/g unit fan as a teen. I didnt rock with Jay z until the Blueprint.
First song I knew him from was Hard Knock life.
However, he still made it into my top 10..
Oh yea
Drake is the GOAT...yall will see

Barely comment on these videos, but I'm pretty new to hip hop, and these videos always push me to look deeper into hip hop and expand my horizons. Really love the content.
thank you!!!
He Say She Say is one of the most powerful songs in the 21st century
Who performs this?
@@4realGTFOH Lupe Fiasco
Great list . The 3000 number one kinda caught me by surprise but I get it. I could never disagree too much with a Lupe fan. But my top 5 would be:
5) JayZ
4) Kendrick Lamar
3) Tupac
2) Lupe Fiasco
1) Nas
Now honestly my.top 3 are sometimes interchangeable as Nas and Lupe have many songs in their catalog that no other would make or think of.
Nas is a God
I get what you said about Pac.
He wasn’t rappity rapping like Em, but his presense on the mic was number 1. Just like dmx and biggie.
bandit BIGFAX.
KRS -1...Rakim...Ice Cube....Biggie...2 Pac
That Lupe breakdown was straight facts Justin, fire. My top five (in no particular order) is Tupac, Big Pun, Biggie, Nas and Eminem (the latter two are interchangeable with DMX and occasional A$AP Rocky). Keep it up Justin!
My personal top 5:
1. Em
2. Pac
3. Biggie
4. Jay
5. Kendrick

Your lingo keeps lighting me up staying jam-packed with references and allusions, Justin. Looove entertaining hip hop journalism

Hey Justin this was a fantastic breakdown, makes me think that a top 10-6 list would be just as interesting, maybe more than this list. Keep it up!
My Top 5
1. MF DOOM

3. Earl Sweatshirt
4. Danny Brown
5. Project Pat

I don't think so
even down here in Somaliland Pac is a music icon.

Woww..
I'll kindly rearrange your list as follows:
1. Kendrick
2. Tupac
3. Lupe
4. Jay Z
5. ??
Slot 5 I'll leave open for BIG KRITT, Nas, Aesop Rock,Jean Grae or Eminem. An argument can be made for either one of these rappers to occupy this spot
Seriously, your channel is the best hiphop outlet I've come across.
Shout out to Shawn Cee for mentioning it.

My top 7( cause it’s 7 days in a week) 2pac, Hov, Nas, Common, OutKast( yes their are a group and get included) and Ludacris damn it this is difficult lol
You only have six. Unless you are splitting outkast.
12w0 OutKast as a duo are taking 2 spots

Just wanted to say, I was kind of feeling down. I didn't have the best day, and it was getting late. I thought to myself, "what am I gonna watch... I'm not in the mood for anything". Then I thought, "hey maybe a company man video could boost my mood, but idk which one I could watch, I've seen a lot of them". A few minutes later, this video pops up on my feed. Really boosted my mood. Wanted to say, great video, always excellent content, and thank you for helping make my day a little better. 💯

I can’t tell you how much it means to me to see you place Lupe so high
I think the 10 biggest, most impactful, most influential rappers, in no order, would have to be:
Biggie
Andre 3000
Eminem
2Pac
Jay-Z
Nas
Kendrick
Big Pun
Kanye
Lil Wayne
There is no greater list.
Those names are exactly in my top 10. The order of my list would Biggie, Eminem, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Jay Z, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Big Pun

I do that same shit whenever I talk about hip hop. The passion is just so fuckin real. And I love to see this community of guys (and girls) who like bumpin’ 21 Savage, but also understand that Scarface is one of the best rappers of all time.

Justin's Number 2 Pick is pretty much uniquely Justin Hunte
I haven't seen anyone say that pick
I won't spoil it tho
He's my goat actually and its way too rare

These aren’t all my era but the impact they made on the game is why they’re my top 5 and btw you’re definitely top 5 UA-camrs, keep it up brother👌🏾
Thank you Slim! That's a dope list.
Wow I'm shocked at how similar out lists are. For me though; no order: Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah, Jay Z, André 3000 and Black Thought.
Bro, respect, respect, and respect for putting Lupe and Black Thought in your top 5 they're like my top 2 artists of all time
Always love the insight
One thing about 3 stacks/OutKast that never get discussed as much as it should is that they won an album of the year Grammy which is so hard to do for hip-hop/any genre that's not really traditional.
My top 5 is Pac/Nas/Big/Em/3 stacks
