Scarface could connect to his listeners in a way that almost every other rapper can't. Like In No Tears when he said, " I got this killer up inside of me. I can't talk to my mother so I talk to my diary."

It's a tie between 2pac & Scarface. Not a single filler on either of their albums.Reality rap at it's finest.Scarface, lowkey the most consistent as far as quality & the same can be said about PAC only he had more range. Everybody else may have at least THREE classics, but face & PAC always stayed consistent.

@@bdot187um I'd agree on albums like S4MN and LTTG but LTTG was posthumous and it wasn't anything Tupac had any influence on as far as composing. Whereas RUSD and SIR were somewhat made from Pac's plans. UTEOT and Better Dayz could pass as 2Pac albums but I'm getting off track. The main point is almost every song was placed for a reason.

Big can't be GOAT because he only has 2 albums. That's disrespectful to a couple of legends who's shown consistency which is the main 🔑 to greatness. Many people can be good for a lil while but can you do it for a long period of time...Yes Biggie had the potential to be the greatest but to actually put him as THE GREATEST is ignoring a couple of people who's worked their ass off and I can't do that. Just saying...

As I've gotten older I've grown more appreciation for Pac's music and his overall body of content. I used to feel that Pac's lyrical range left something to be desired, and I still do. But that's not all there is to being a good MC. Pac is a true poet, which is a bit different than just getting up and putting 2 words together that rhyme just for the hell of it.

This is why they're really ain't no true GOAT to me. Cause they're are different type of hip hop fans with different values. When it comes to judging if a rapper is good people look at rhyme schemes, double entendres, flow, world play, delivery, production, songwriting ability, themes of the albums, how you can relate to what the artist is saying, replayability, and how the album makes you think and feel.
Those who value crazy ass rhyme schemes more got dude's like Eminem, Tech, Royce, MF Doom, etc high on their list.
Others who prefer those with more emotional range and can relate to them more have dude's like Tupac, Ice Cube, Scarface, hell even Kendrick, etc.
I kinda like a nice mix between the two which is why Kendrick is my fav rapper

I agree. I think there is a certain level that a handful of guys have reached where once you get to that level it comes down to personal preference. There's probably around 25-30 emcees that belong at that level which is not alot when you considered the thousands of emcees that have been around in the history of rap.

Na mán, 2pac might have a longer catalog but biggies ready to die blows 2pacs albums out of the water. I mean that shit was illamatic level, not lyrical but just through sheer quality. Plus scarface man just stop. The dairy. That album was the prototype which tupac and biggie used as a foundation for their own. Scarface is your top 5 favourite rappers top 5 favourite rappers.

coming from a 17 year old who missed virtually all of the greats, i can say Outkast is my favorite catalog. As i've tried to go back to learn about hip hop, nothing has stuck with me like Outkast's music. For similar reasons 3k is my GOAT. I first heard albums like ATLiens and Aquemini 15+ after their release and I still connect with them and find the instrumental choices to be unique and revolutionary. I mean until i hear that Pimp Trick Gangsta Click album, Aquemini is my favorite rap album of all time

I got Face or Pac. Jay should be up for consideration. Nas has highs and lows, even though I appreciate some of what people consider a "low" album. E-40 made his own slang, a sub-culture was born from his style but I feel like his stuff hits harder on the West than it does elsewhere. Wish BIG had more than 2 albums. Cube, well if you're going to include the whole catalogue, I think he got to a certain point where he should have stopped - times have changed and your style didn't adapt to the times, but he fathered that rawness that many rappers make part of their style. So that leaves us with Pac and Face.
Pac, I'm not gonna lie, I have tons of bias. Born in LA, all the older heads in my fam bumped Pac and it just became second nature. As I got older, I digested the content and it was relative for the most part. 20 years later, i can still bump a Pac album and it still hits because shit hasn't changed and it still portrays how I feel about a myriad of topics.
Face, I got put on Face from cousins that came from Virginia and were about Geto Boys and all that. What I love about Face is he is so consistent. The Face you get in 2017 is the Face you get decades back AND IT STILL KICKS. Not everything was relative, but comprehending his work as a metaphor for this or that, I could make it relative. And even when it wasn't, shit was hard.
I'm not gonna pick between the two because in the end, it's all just chatter but those are the two I got it narrowed down to.

Great catalogs I’d shout-out are Black Thought, Andre 3000, Guru, Kendrick, Kanye, Jay-Z, MF Doom, Scarface, Pac, Ghostface Killah, Pusha T, Common, Billy Woods, El-P, Freddie Gibbs and mad others that tends to be how I rate artistry is consistently good albums. An artist with one 10/10 album and a bunch of mediocre ones can’t be a goat cause that one album. Nas, Biggie, Em, 50, Ice Cube are all inconsistent or didn’t get to follow through.
