I actually popped in about 35 minutes in. I left because I wanted to hear the entire story. I really like listening to your stories because I can craft while listening. Now I am going to see if any of my other subscriptions have posted anything before tracking down another of your wonderful stories. Oh, and what I really enjoy about your stories is the over all lack of bloodshed...
Thanks, Leah. Not averse to bloodshed but only in service of the story. Doing other stuff while listening is totally revolutionary. I "read' five books while roofing last summer. Unfortunately, audiobooks didn't do much to help the knees afterward 😅
Usually I try and leave at least a one word comment because I know it helps your channel keep putting out the work it will pay off seen many channels grow huge that started just like this one
The myriad approaches and subjects with wich you build your universe ,so to speak, enrich the whole. Its as if each is a patch on a quilt and i cant wait to see that quilt take shape.
Thanks, Ty! That's a nice metaphor for it. I have been thinking of it as an impressionist painting with each story being a dot or stroke that you can't place until you pull back. When I started, these dots didn't make much sense, but they're actually forming something larger now.
The problem would be easily solved by paying the people who suppliy the raw materials a decent wage. Not everyone wants the rich life with prestige but a good life without stress 15:58
@@RoweLit I am listening to many of your stories but don't often have a chance to comment until later. I really enjoy the stories and your narration. 🙋👍 Keep writing. 🎉

You got me going, Carl! Huge BSG fan, and I knew what you were talking about but it took a minute to find it: www.imdb.com/title/tt0947106 Big episode for the Chief!
12:00 Dude ( dudette ? either way I think I'm in love , ignore that impropriety I'm day drinking again) this is wonderful and insightful. You are a very deep thinker. PS I would sign up and die happy bringing these rings to life. I hope we get up the well and nix Fermi. Edit . I read this again back to back. This is literature. Any chance you will run for office? You have to give me a heads up so I can seek citizenship and vote for you. P.E Rowe for world president! What the heck? I just read another comment, you are a roofer? 🤯
Cheers, Bob! Glad you appreciated this. If you'd like another perspective on the ring, today's Misfits episode takes place on Athos! Lightning Round: No never run for office, because I'd be a bad world president 😂 and no I am not a roofer, but I did reshingle my house two summers ago now. Much respect for anyone who does it on the regular.
what an interesting story... it could be a coming of age story, or a colonial history lesson, with a few tweaks. I guess everybody won. that's pretty rare. and even the antagonist's motives were well explained and clearly not intentionally evil it did make me sad though. Maybe because there wasn't a winner and looser? for whatever reason that seems necessary in most stories Anyway, I really liked it. It was an interesting path to victory. When facing a larger power; confront it directly while politely moving around and escaping its orbit
I must say that I have binge watched and hugely enjoyed all of P. E. Rowe I could find. This story which seemed to be about labor relations and social contracts in the far future left me feeling flat. On the best of days the most people can hope for from leadership is enlightened self interest and I have seen management over promise, I have never seen management let the workers move into the house when the work was done. I like adventure and a well told story, this one as all the rest was well told I just found the subject mater not believable or workable and preachy.
Great story it triggers Biden's crushing of the railroad workers for me. I wish workers were as united in reality.. Though it wouldn't change the underlying dictatorial structure of our economic system, it might ameliorate some of the social inequities. Yet workers fighting back still does not address all the resource waste of private ownership. Such as the current need to have about 6 times the number of cars unused (wasted) even during peak hours. While leaving many people no access to cars at all. Cars should be shared like (non toll) roads (access abundance) and crappy cars shouldn't be built at all ( intrinsic obsolescence of capitalism ( lack of durability) and even more suboptimal products for "poor" people) Cars use and quality are just a couple examples of thousands of efficiencies most people are blind to. Not mentioning the many harmful effects of their pollution . . .. but I digress . I need to write papers along those lines myself someday if i can . It is a very important subject worker status. , your story is analogous to the ability to "go west" for the American working class . A great threat against owners for a couple centuries ( although often requiring war with the native populations). I do admire the number and depth of ideas you cover , although not really considering all factors , you make some very important points. bravo.
Thanks, MrIizzy. It's only been about 60 stories or so. I'm sure I'll hit all those other factors eventually 🤣 Seriously, though, it really is amazing how the different topics force me to consider angles and problems I wouldn't have come up with sitting around trying to think of something to write about.
@@RoweLit i like the variety, and the thoughtfulness . . You are really well rounded. You do good fight scenes, horror, comedy, dramas, and then incorporate thought provoking ideas in many stories too. You deserve far more recognition. I hope and think you will get it too. Maybe a little more passion in the romances - for the ladies! also your world building and character development is great. Especially in such short stories you have a knack for bringing exotic places into focus very quickly. and seamlessly.
@@RoweLit Oh now i'm going to have to bring all my Icehole friends in on this one! Apparently the algorith doesn't like the way i talk about it. Shucks McGee!
@@RoweLit This Icehole has come up with an idea. Hear me out here buddy. there is a group of space faring clans. They are happy to trade with any colony or other traders. They are nomads in space. Sometimes they find derelict ships, sometimes they find survivors. They adopt the survivors into their clans. (pulling a bit on heinlin for the finnish space clans here but more native american lean) the story should be the inner conflict of of a new "convert/adoption" when the person is learning the secrets of the clan. The information the clan holds could be used to gain infinite gain in the world of dirt-worlders. but it would also cause the total collapse of all civilization. What do you do with the information that could end all civilization? Does humanity deserve to survive?

Heard about Athos in some of the other stories- love the world building!
Thanks, Luke! Athos is in a lot of the stories now--a major player in that corner of the galaxy.
Interesting idea. Sci Fi used to explore class issues.
Thanks, John. I can think of a few good examples, but they tend to be outliers. SF can surely explore all the deepest ideas, though!
As comedians are our philosophers Sci-fi is our dream time.

Your stories are intriguing. I appreciate the classic feel and lack of sex.
Thanks, RoboMint. I definitely like a classic story feel when I'm reading, so if I can make that happen writing for somebody, that's good news!

This story kinda gives The Expanse vibes. Earth and claiming dominance over Martians and Belters, and treating Belters like peasants.
