As my fire career progresses, the meaning of this video changes. And becomes more and more meaningful. It has helped me through some of the hardest challenges. Thank you Chief.
I just had my first day at the fire academy... I can't tell you how thankful I am for you sharing this perspective on the fire service. It's absolutely a calling and I've had to eat a whole lot of humble pie lately. It's not about me, it's about those around me that I am preparing myself to serve in the future. First in. First out. Thank you, Chief.
I’ve always dreamed of being a firefighter. Playing dress up as a kid putting that red helmet on and feeling like a super hero, and now that I’m 17 going into my senior year after watching this video I know what I want to do after graduation. Thanks chief
Hi Chief, I have been using this video since it came out.. (maybe 15 years ago?) To teach students in our college firefighter 1001 program what it means to be a firefighter and the character you must have - I also conduct firefighter interview coaching and this video is the homework I give to those prepping, so they understand character traits like pride, honor integrity, compassion, empathy, loyalty, and why its so important in the fire service and then they can think of stories where they demonstrated these traits which are all common questions in the firefighter interview. Thanks again Chief!
I’ve always thought of being a firefighter but never really knew what it truly meant, now I am driven and determined more than ever to put everything into being a firefighter even if it means laying down everything I love because I know it will mean everything to me to serve in the line of duty and up hold the values of honor, integrity, and pride for the greater good.

Thanks Travis!
Classic setup here. The Chief softens the recruits up with gentle words of wisdom before the instructors come in and smoke them.
