guys stop the hate- this girl rarely even does sponsored video and now she went on a trip with a brand that for all I know is cruelty free & the controversy about the shades just happened( or at least I just found out about it). the point is, it's not Kalyn's fault, she went on a trip and made a beautiful video about it, it's not like she is responsible for their products or works for them so stop the hating, this vlog was beautiful

I'm not sure why everyone is judging Kalyn hardcore when the entire shade controversy happened after these influencers went on this trip. Since then Tarte has owned up to their mistake and the way they responded to it and are releasing more shades! The hype was too much and they made the release before finalizing all the shades of the foundation. Let's at least be glad that Tarte is able to acknowledge their mistakes and take steps to fix them! It was the brands issue people shouldn't be taking it out on Kalyn.
Tarte was really shady about the situation. I used to LOVE Tarte but after that I don't think I will be supporting them anymore. And I don't blame Kalyn for this, but I do think she needs to address it. She is a youtuber who talks about veganism and CF. As someone who has similar morals with animals, I think she should also talk about to morality with this controversy.
I wish brands would treat their customers with a trip like this, not just influencers. I mean, make a random quiz/competition and the winner can get an “influencers trip”. Cos the customers are the one making profit for the companies, right?

Anna Wagner I understand but the influencers can advertise in other ways and get paid still. No need for the companies to treat influencers with trips and stuff. What do the companies expect after us, costumers, watching the influencers get a wonderful holiday, all paid and everything? That we suddenly want to buy their products? 😕
ReRe Chan they don't expect anything from us. Yet. The goal of these travels is to gain the loyality of influencers so they use their products more frequently in "get ready with me" Videos etc. When those Videos go up, Sales increase because viewers want to Copy the look. The Strategy is good and brings them waaaay more profit over the long term. This trip is not supposed to get you to buy their stuff, it is aimed at increasing Kalyns support for the brand which makes her more likely to give them free advertising in the future which THEN leads to higher sales
ReRe Chan or short: tarte doesn't earn shit by sending regular customers on free trips, it would be a mere expense. But sending influencers is an investment.

They always apologize....then they release another product and apologize again. It's a cycle. Eventually they will get it together. Hopefully
I didn't expect further comments. I do not want to take away the beauty of Kalyn and this video. So we should all just leave this here. There are plenty of videos about this very problem.

Do your travels sometimes uplift you and awaken your soul? Does it help you from falling into these dark periods?*
theFitty you should read that book Kalyn recommended called the four agreements. It talks about how we're always searching for ourselfs but we're all so very blind to the access we have within ourselves to be happy. The author has a few books and I'm trying to read all of them. They really resonate with me and the whole finding yourself thing which I too struggle with. The books are changing my life ♡
ZoeLander8706 that sounds great, but I don't know how to apply it to myself as enlightening as the books are. I'll read them but I like having practical things to do.
I totally understand, I have trouble with application too.
I believe traveling is good for the soul, it shows you new places, experiences, things about yourself, etc. for example maybe you travel L.A, it’s warm and sunny (which usually is a little pick me up) new faces and places to see (change of scenery is nice) if you get to have time alone with yourself that can really help you become independent and teach you to enjoy your own company. Maybe you find a new passion for something that keeps you busy and makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning to reach new goals. You don’t have to travel to experience these things but I do think it helps :) good luck to you and remember a lot of us don’t know what we’re doing in life yet and that’s ok ❤️ you are here for a reason even if you don’t know what that reason is.

Honestly, I'm against the Tarte limitations just as much as anyone else but putting pressure on Kalyn to speak about it isn't really fair. She loved the products and she uses them often. It isn't her responsibility to speak on a matter she has nothing to do with. She is enjoying herself and the wonderful opportunities brought to her from her hardwork and dedication. Guilting her or "being disappointed" in her for going on this trip is ridiculous. She probably agrees with us that Tarte being so unavailable to many people in the color range they chose was wrong and stupid, but if she doesn't want to give us her opinion, she doesn't have to. Stop reaching and acting like she's problematic for taking this trip from a brand she obviously loves.

However, it really disappointed me that theoretically speaking, if I was on that amazing trip with tarte, I would not have been able to try their new foundation due to the controversy. I simply encourage you to think about how the rest of us feel and I really hope you can see where we are coming from. If not, I will continue to support you and you are incredibly lucky to have traveled to Hawaii.

Everyone calling Kalyn out is being unfair. These UA-camrs who went for the trip didn’t have a choice but to post content despite the controversy seeing how the foundation was released AFTER the trip was planned. Instead of being disappointed with Kalyn, you should be disappointed with Tarte.
Other UA-camrs who went on this trip have addressed the issue in vlogs or coffee talks. You're right, the issue was with Tarte, which has nothing to do with Kalyn. But to not acknowledge this issue at all, with such a large platform, is as someone commented: kind of 'socially irresponsible.' Of course she isn't obliged to say anything. But the viewers who are here for something more than a slightly shallow, aesthetically pleasing travel video are rightfully disappointed, in my opinion. Don't get my wrong, I'm a huge fan, just disappointed.
