People seem to read way too much into Gilmour’s‘wall thing’ reply! When you get to his age (I’m 69) then everything is way less important than when you’re younger. So he’s not being derogatory, it just doesn’t matter !! And if he’s still talking to Water’s as he says, that’s no bad thing. For me Water’s is possibly the best lyricist in rock while Gilmour is easily my favourite guitarist. The four members of Pink Floyd together produced remarkable work which moves modern generations nowadays. As individuals, none of them has matched that level, the chemistry may have been rocky between them but that resulted in genius music.

  • @mewgiah8057

Whole thing is frustrating. Roger Waters has all the ideas (high-concepts and creativity) - while Gilmour is the master musician. He was able to reign in Waters and tighten up each album. A good example of this is The Wall. If the album was only Waters parts it wouldn’t be nowhere as good. Gilmour brings balance and allows the listener to digest the more out there subject matter.
But without the other both are nowhere as good. At least IMO Waters solo stuff goes too far creatively & isnt very good on a musical level. And Gilmours solo stuff is great technically speaking, but boring creatively.
They were the perfect pair, and it sucks that they can’t get on the same page and drop their feud.
I do think overall this is Waters fault since Nick Mason and Wright have both said it was. Or in interviews they have been more critical towards Waters.
Considering Waters was a founding member and Gilmour joined later that’s pretty damning to see veteran members side with him.

You can go back and forth about who's better than that musician and this one is better than that one, etc., but each member played a mostly equal roll to make them one of the best, innovative and most recognized Rock groups of their time and ours! Like most successful musical groups, their creativeness and inspirational songwriting for the very most part, was a group effort. I'm 72 yo and lived through he entirety of both bands existence and beyond and I'd have to say that Beatles are the best because of classic song writing and their impact on social consciousness, including politically and their amazing concentration of talent in each individual. That said, if I had to choose one band to spend 3 years in isolation on a deserted island alone listening to, it would be Pink Floyd, hands down. Then david noticed that PF brand was in limbo and took it with nick and david "did not included" richard. Roger was pissed off. The establishment of Israel was a very flawed affair and it was never rectified. It should have been corrected immediately! This is not the way things work. If the foundation of a building is not resilient, then sooner or later it will collapse.... - Covering one's ears, closing one's eyes and singing lalala does not change reality!
If we want to solve the Palestine problem once and for all, Israel must shrink significantly and a state for the Palestinian Arabs must finally be created on at least 50% of the territory.
1850: 4% jews, 1919: 10%, 1944: 32%. It was a veritable Invasion of jewish immigrants in a very short time and even if the UN partition plan of 1947 had been implemented Israel would have gotten 56% of the Land regardless of jews being the minority. But even worse from 1948 onwards they occupied 78 % (!) of the Land...
It should never have been allowed to stay that way, yet the UN did nothing... By now it's 88%..
We all have an innate sense of fairness and Justice.
The status of permanent crisis and war will remain, if fairness will not finally be applied.
It is a highly pathological situation, this cannot be allowed to continue. It has had highly destructive effects on the whole world, right from the start. The UN must finally intervene decisively: Stop the willful ignorance, stop the unnecessary suffering. This problem must be solved NOW.
This obvious injustice pathologizes both Israelis and palestinian arabs.
