Jessica to be honest the ONLY reason he really did it was because when they raided Makarov’s safe house it basically had the intel on Shepherd’s wrongdoings (sending Allen out to die in ‘no russian’) so all Shepherd did was tie up loose ends
Imagine if Shepard instead of kicking his 44 mag revolver he picked it up and shoot them both and get the oil from the crashed helicopter and burned them alive 😞

Imagining if Soap tossed the knife, and the handle just bonks Shepard on the head. And he just looks at Soap with confusion as to why he thought that would work.
MW3 was honestly pretty mediocre. What really took me out of the campaign was multiple voice changes, lazy writing, and overall lack of shock effect on the audience in the game. For example, in MW1 you have the nuke and when Gaz and Griggs are killed, you get an "oh shit" feeling. Same thing with No Russian in MW2 and shepherds betrayal. In MW3 though, when soap died I thought "are you fucking serious" because the writers would never kill off soap, and it turns out the writers from MW2 and 1 did not write MW3. I didn't get that feeling of revenge like Ghost and Roaches betrayal. Also, Frost randomly disappearing and the rangers from this game not coming back, made it feel like it wasn't a sequel to the series. Makarov was also completely changed, in MW2 he's an ultranationalist (revealed by when he said "For Zakhaev"), which they did not want to take over the world or whatever simply take over control of the Russian government. But in the third game, Makarov apparently wants to conquer every country there is? It doesn't make sense. Overall, the story of MW3 was just very lacking.
