    TRC in my opinion is one of the best when it comes to fit and finsh their knives are just about perfect especially since they are a production knife and not a custom I have TRC Classic Freedom that stays in my EDC bag and goes with me everywhere.

    I'm from Europe and know TRC for some years already. Basically from the start when the knives came without boxes. Andrius is really a great guy also. Yes they are on the expensive side but they are really well made in expensive steels. All I EDC is a SAK but this might be a good travel knife because of the slim profile. For prolonged camp use that Reiff F4 looks very interesting but will cost me even more including p&p and European VAT. I might try to pick one up next time I visit the US. Thanks for introducing TRC to the US. You should try their Apocalyps. That's a beast of a knife.

    G'day Aaron, yeah very nice mate and I am using small fixies more in rotation for EDC, but my "go to" folder for EDC is a Recon 1, drop point, in S35 and weighs, 147 grams, (5.2 oz). Mind you, weight/size, within reason, is not an issue for me, it's all about cutting performance, ergos and a solid build.
    I havent had any blades fail to spring back, (or snap for that matter), if in fact they actually flex to start with. I do always try and use the right tool for the job though, and for the most part, thicker stock is a high priority across the board. Cheers Duke.

    This would seriously LIVE in my pocket, Aaron. My guess is that TRC designed it to be a hybrid of an EDC and a survival knife, a sort of EDS (EveryDay Survival) knife, so they kept the edge at a thick-ish angle. Completely on-brand for them, honestly. That said, I'd reprofile it too.

    • @eyeofthetiger4184
      @eyeofthetiger4184 Рік тому +1

      G'day Charles, how are ya mate ? yep, totally concur, a hybrid, and a very good one at that I'd say.

      @@eyeofthetiger4184 Hey Duke! Good to see you, my friend. I'm hanging tough on my end. How about you? The EDS is a genre I really like, frankly. I'm carrying one right now, though it's definitely not in the same class or price range as any TRS. It's a little Schrade 9Cr necker - full handle, full tang, thick spine, but hollow ground. Slices well, but tough as nails.

    It is interesting you compare it to the MKC Speedgoat. I was thinking the whole time that if the TRC was over $300, I would still rather have a MKC Fieldcraft, which I think is more comparable in both profile and intended use, being a drop point with G10 handle scales in an intelligently designed sheath intended for EDC, and available in Magnacut. I also couldn't help but think about the Bradford Guardian 4.2 in Magnacut. I currently rock a Guardian 5.5 in CPM 3V, actually at your recommendation. It carries okay; I carry a full size handgun as well so I obviously have accepted the added weight of full size tools with the increased functionality they offer. I haven't carried a folder in years. I have been looking at Magnacut, however, and being from MT and a big fan of Josh Smith, I would love the Fieldcraft. His drops just sell out so fast it is hard to get your hands on one. The appeal of the Bradford is that you can usually just go on their sight and order what you want without having to be waiting on your computer for the drop notice and be one of the first 100 to add one to your cart.

    That TRC Polheim looks excellent, but it's way out of my price range. I prefer budget knives for my hiking/woods use but admit I'm not doing any heavy bushcrafting stuff. The two I like the best so far are the CJRB Hyperlite (4" fixed blade by Joe Flowers) and my Cold Steel Range Boss (4" folder with 4116 steel). The Hyperlite weighs 3.5oz (w/o sheath) and the Range Boss weighs 3.125oz. Both would be fine for EDC.

    Huh, never heard of them before today. Looks like they are very dialed in. Knife sounds like it's a great tool. The price is a little steep for me!

    My daily use blade is a Bark River Bravo EDC in CPM-M4 steel. It weighs in at 3.5 oz without the sheath and 5.5 with the leather sheath. The TRC just doesn't hit me in the feels. The Reiff was more my preference. The speed goat would be better if it had nice wood or G10 handle scales. Just my opinion.

      That being said I literally just ordered the "This is Freedom" knife. They hooked me with the "limited run" convex grind.😂
