My dad was a newspaper man in the sixties. The old cast letters were sorted into the drawers because as a kid I had to sort the type set after each week’s paper was printed. The dark color is likely from old ink. I love seeing those drawers! I’d add tiny miniatures in the sections! Love it!!
That old typewriter table is beautiful
Dear Julie, I just love you to pieces! I found your videos about 3 weeks ago. Your remind me so much of my personality. I get really excited over thrifting too. You have a beautiful soul of a Christian too. I’m 72 years old and still love the simple things in life that make it fun. I have changed over the years. I used to like country and old frontier deco. Now I e changed to mid- century 1950-1970 and big on less is more. I’ve reached the age to be comfortable with less to clean but enough to enjoy my happy place. I love love old books several of mine are hymnals and daily commentaries. It’s time to enjoy more free time even though I still work 5 days a week on a school bus, I’m grateful for that but will cut back to just substituting next year. I agree with Colette, your table is a typewriter table. God bless you sweet lady and I’m here waiting for your next video. Be safe!
Some may get bored with the books, myself being a book collector, I'm over here like, "Julie, You can will those to me!!" They're always such a joy.
The little white folding table is a typewriter table. We had them in my high school class to hold typewriters in 1964. The folding sides are to set papers or books as you type. Great styling! I love your channel!
That table is a typewriter table. The cut out at the bottom was to allow your legs to fit under it while you typed. The Sides of the table is where you would put your paper or book from which you were typing from.
The little white table is an old typewritter table. We used them in high school during the early 60's & then I bought two of my own later in the 70's/early 80's in thrift stores.
The white table is an old typewriter table. Great find!
This is the 2nd time watching this video. I just want to move by you, be your neighbor & thrift with you! You pick & find the nicest things!
I just wanted you to know how very much I so enjoy all of your videos and your appreciation for history and vintage items! ❤
Love the white folding table, I found one similar at a yard sale, I sanded it down removed the rust, and evened out the finish, and spray painted it a coral color and placed some plants on it between 2 chairs on my front porch, the sides are nice bonus to serve as a place for beverages on hot summer days.
You and your family make me so inspired to work in my house and to spend my money wisely. I love you decor style❤
The thin tissue like paper was often found in older book to protect the beautiful illustration .. Great finds !
Yes…it’s a typewriter table. The open side (front) allows a person to have a place for their legs.
I adore old books.
As per usual your eye for beautiful decorating is apparent. H. G. Wells is a revered science fiction writer. He wrote, “War of the Worlds.” A radio drama was broadcast of this novel by Orson Wells (no relation) in 1938. People across the US at the time believed the attack by space aliens was real. The drama caused widespread hysteria. H. G. Wells also wrote, “The Time Machine,” which was made into a number of movies. One of the earlier versions, I remember, is a classic and older than me.
I love that the printer drawer still has the font style label on it.
Great finds!
Such great treasures!! I'm a sucker for antique books 💗The table is a vintage typewriter table. 😁
I love OLD books!!!
Hi Julie! That cute little table that you set up so beautifully in the corner is am old typewriter stand and you're right...chair goes in the front and the sides lift up for your papers, etc while you type. Big fan! Best, Sue C. 🤗
I have that same metal typewriter table. I move a lot & it goes in any room. Any H.G.Wells book is pure gold & the old home economics book is such a great find.
The table looks like an old typewriter table, but looks like it was used as a plant stand with the circular rusted spot on top. Very cool!
Perfect place for the folding table, great find!!
It was a typing table. We had them at our high school 50 years ago.
Thank you for rescuing those old books!
That's an old type writer table. Nice find!
Those books are dreamy!! It looked like the spring green one had flowers on the page edges!!! How gorgeous!!
Your white tables is a type writer stand. Good pickens.
It’s a old Typewriter table. Your legs fit in the cut out section on the bottom. You could fold out one side for information you were typing and the other side for your completed sheets of typed project.
I stopped breathing when I saw all of those vintage Christmas table cloths.😍
I remember using one of these in high school typing class!
I hope this is hint of how good this yard sale season is going be. SCORE Julie!! Thank you for going over the books and copyright dates. I'm a old book nerd! 📚 ( that can go either way)🤣 TFS!
Boy, would love to scan through the history of the US book. Love the boot scraper, that would’ve been a treasure for me. Your channel is one of my favs! Thank you!
That while metal table is an old typewriter stand. We used them in school and later my mom had one on the front porch with potted plants Ours was a gray color.
The table is a "typewriter table"....had one - some had wheels...and it is vintage.
The table is an old typing table. I have one of these. Love mine.
That is a great type writer table / desk
Love the typewriter table!
What great finds. H. G. Wells wrote the War of the Worlds. It was made into a radio show (before tv) and people that came in on the middle of the show thought the world was ending. I love the printer's tray.
The table looks like a typewriter desk from when people were hired only to type. The cut out is where they slid their feet under the desk. One side was where they put what they were typing and the right side was for the finished work.
In the 60s the metal folding table was a typing table
Julie, love your treasures! I bet that green printers tray is at least 69 years old and the drawer handle is the original one, nice! Love the books, they look great sprinkled around In vignettes. I just get glue and glue the bindings and spines back in place, easy peasy, if they all could talk…..! The trying table so brings back memories of typing class, remember being told, “Don’t look at your hands”, 😂😂😂😂 have a wonderful week!👏❤️🎉👏
I have that same metal typewriter table. Because they’re metal they make great plant stands. I’ve even used it in my kitchen and bathroom. I move a lot & it goes in any room. Great find. 👍🏻
I have an old typewriter stand. I don't remember how many years I've had it. It's on my back porch holding our bottled water.
The white metal table is an old typewriter stand!! I love it!!
Who buys rusty and crusty better than you! It cracks me up watching you as you practically hyperventilate with some of your thrifting purchases thinking they are gonna be whisked away before you secure it. The hardest thing about thrifting for me now is the prices…they are ridiculously high what with all our flipping friends that have taken to sharing their plans on rusty and crusty. You are now yard sailing and I am just waiting for the snow to quit up here in Michigan. You got a steal on your purchases this vlog, hope the thrift stores come to their senses pretty soon or they will lose out more than they already have. You keep thrifting and I’ll keep watching for I just love being entertained by you!!!:):):)
I love the table!
Many years ago, I had a table similar to the one you found. It held my manual typewriter, was convenient for my small bedroom which had limited space for the table and a chair.
Good morning from South Florida.
You inspire me and make me laugh out loud. 😅
I have one of those short ironing boards.
It folds up and it’s on the side of my dryer.
True story!!
I’m going through my trunk and cabinets looking for old family items to put in my decor.
Thrifting in my own home. Thank you for your inspiration.
So love the story about the old man ❤️❤️❤️
Happy thrifting friend.
I learned to type in high school on one of those tables 😊
The know my husband is a HUGE science fiction fan and he would’ve loved the book by HG Wells! I have read only one book by him, War Of The Worlds, which in the original story takes place not too far from where I live in England. And, my son went to the same secondary school ( high school ) as HG Wells in a town called Midhurst.
So glad you got the deals you wanted for the gorgeous little table and printer’s drawer! My dad was a printer and I remember when visiting his work on a Saturday seeing the drawers. They do make lovely wall hangings!
I’m a huge bookworm and have been since I could read!!! When I was younger,my favorite place to go was our small town library 📚 spent hours there!!! Love the old books!!! The table and printers drawer were awesome 👏 finds!!! Love y’all ❤️🙏❤️🙏
I was such a bookworm growing up. I remember loving The Bobbsey Twins, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Little Women, Swiss Family Robinson, Doctor Doolittle, Black Beauty, etc. I wonder if you read any of those? Nursing school ruined me. After having to read more than 100 pages of giant nursing textbooks per night, reading for pleasure was never as enjoyable.
@@elizabethkoobs1060 I read some of those. I’m a retired Respiratory Therapist and I know how those books are🤨 When I was young and we were out for summer break, I would get the weekly readers and I could hardly wait for them to come in!!! I always have a book I’m reading on….when I go for any of my appointments,I always take my book and everyone else are on their phones and I’m sitting there with my nose in a book 📖😂🤣
Hi Julie, glad you asked about the printer's drawer and the metal table. I too, love looking at the dates inside old books. Thanks for sharing.
I can't believe you covered the mirror with the printer tray. I hope with all the books you collect you read some of them instead of just using them for decor. Books were made to read and afterwards they could be used for decor. I can't believe how old they are. Great find.
Love love the books, table and typewriter table. I love to buy old books for decor but also to read. Thanks for going through the books, I love knowing the copyright!!
Yep typewriter table!
Those old books were a steal!
My grandmother had one of those tables. It was for her typewriter. That's why you have room at the bottom for your legs. Blessings Always
Oh my goodness fantastic finds Julie, the best for me were the books I love reading . The Domestic Science book is English , coming from England we did cooking classes in High School which was called Domestic Science . Have a wonderful week .
That H.G. Wells book is cool. That table is an old typing table. I saw Piper's tail. Please show her when you can. She's so cute.
Marlene peters- loved it all! I also loved the way you still it too.
thanks for sticking the copyrights on the end as I do enjoy them!
I learned how to type on a table like that. Awesome find!!
Julie, do some research on that HG Wells author. He was very popular. I love old books too.
Julie your white metal table was a typing table from a typing class in high school from the 60’s and early 70’s. Hmmmmm guess I’m showing my age. In the classroom they were either black or a dark olive drab green. 😊
Mine was gray at home. The ones at school were olive green. 1962 & 1963
Love the table idea, books and basket. I'm gonna have to stop watching you, so many ideas to copy😊❤.
You find such beautiful treasures on your thrifty trips. Great bargain,
Hi Julie. What a great day you had! I loved the books, you are exactly right. Goodwill has gone up on a lot of their things especially their books! The antique stores have too! I need to go to some garage sales like you! I loved how you styled the little white table and also the other piece. Sorry, I drew a blank on it's name. It looks so pretty on your piano. I am so excited for you! Hey, this may be something your interested in. If you locate some encyclopedia's, look for your birth year. It will tell you everything that was going on the year you were born. I got a Collier's Encyclopedia with my birthday. It's pretty interesting. Anyway, just an idea! I hope you and your family have a great week. School here in the DFW area is out for spring break already! Thanks so much Julie for taking the time to share your newest treasures!
That domestic science book looks like a cook book. You should totally do a recipe out of it for your new series of thrifted recipes.
That white table I love turn out so good you styled it so perfect .
The books!!! How wonderful that you were able to get them for such an amazing price. Also, it is fun to hear the copyright dates of them.
Wow those books!!! What treasures. ❤😊❤😊🙏
The table I think is an old typewriter table . A small chair would slide under it
Table would look good outside on your porch.
Great typewriter table!! Those books are amazing and great price!
My mother had a table like that, it was her typewriter stand she would type up the Church news letter back in the 70's
The books, table and printers tray are all beautiful. Love your style. I enjoyed your video. Have a great weekend. ❤
The door looks stunning well done a lot of hard work Janine 🇬🇧
Oh my goodness! I love this haul especially the books! They are beautiful and the price! I can’t seem to find hardly any yard sales around me anymore and I love to go! Love you channel! ❤
That is a typing table - we used those in offices to type back In the 70’s !!!
I'm a book lover so I enjoyed knowing titles and copyright dates. Some of them were text books, i think, The one with the funny title is authored by H.G. Wells. He is most famous for his science fiction. The book I remember is War of the Worlds.
God bless you and yours😊💕🙏
I have a printer drawer also that I have miniatures in. My granddaughters and great niece always argue over who gets it when I die. I’m like hello I’m right here. Got news for them,I don’t plan on dying. Lol. like your haul.
Love the books. HG Wells!!! That's one of his I've never heard of. Nice collection for such a good price.
WOW those old books! I love knowing when they were published Julie. The paper between the picture and writing is velum and its there to protect the picture.
So glad you rescued those old books! A treasure of a collectible for a honey of a price!
I would definitely change the handle on printer tray to something more vintage looking
Love the books and the rest of the haul. Love and prayers . Maxine Ok.
What great finds!! The table and printer’s tray❣️😍
Your Ivy plants look so healthy 🪴
Love the books. I always knew the table as a typewriter table. You put typewriter in middle and extra paper and what you were typing from on the sides.
I wonder if they had the books because of the color as well.... it's just tooo pretty! And they had some cool pieces! I was given a old enamel topped kitchen island, has 3 drawers, 1 of metal and has wheels on it. It's from the 50s! I used as extra work space in my craft room 😍
The books were very interesting enjoyed
Scorned again again❤❤
Great book haul! I love old books. I had a typing table like that, still have the manual typewriter but not the table. Love how you styled everything Julie!
The white table was an old type writer table. I used one in high school to learn to type. Later in years used one in many jobs locations. Yes, I am aging myself. 😂
I agree. I worked for doctors in the early 1980's and had one of the white tables for doing the billing on It had been used previously as a typing table.
My momma had one in our home with her typewriter on it. I'm really going to date myself now! This was in the late 60s!
Yes some of them the top comes up and the typewriter can drop down when not in use. In this case there qould be a mechanism to raise and lower the typewriter
That’s so awesome! Thank you 😊!
Thank you 😊!
