Just you have to move to countryside/small towns… in seoul you’ll get tiny tiny room for $400-500 (goshiwon/ goshitel) and for villa type or one room you have to pay $10.000 deposit and ~400-700 rent plus utilities(mine were ~$150 a moth) …. Seoul is extremely expensive and its getting more and more expensive… just in 2022 food, water, electricity etc increased 5~30%
Total value: $6178 on the second deal vs $6870 on the third. If final deal is $300 per month with $4000 down that's $7600 for the year. In case anyone was wondering.
my wife and i love your videos. we lived in anjung ri for 2 years. she’s from busan and we were both curious about how you and tad met and your stories. have you explained that somewhere before?
Aww thank you for liking the videos! It means a lot to me to hear that and keep motivated to make them. I think I did mention how I met Tad on my other channel but not here. We met because I made a video on how to pass a Korean drivers license test and he found it helpful cause he kept failing his. He than coincidentally saw another video I made about buying property in Bangkok. It was just such a coincidence for him he reached out to me and we were both planning to go to seorak mountain so he offered me a ride and the rest is history haha
You get your money back. It’s also pretty customary for you to not pay the last months rent and have them deduct from the deposit. As long as you didn’t break anything you simply just pay the prenegotiated cleaning fee which was like 45 bucks and that too could be deducted from the deposit. It’s not like the states where u gotta pay last months rent and start haggling over what you cleaning fee is after the fact. It’s all pretty straight forward here. Unless you seriously messed something up you’ll get the deposit back
we didn't have too many issues cause the walls are thick. That being said when I was sleeping in the room facing the hallway, I could hear through the window people partying up. Faint enough where it didn't bother me but I saw signage the day after warning residents to keep it down late night
I'm curious if the old "Do you have a military discount?" question ever works in South Korea during negotiations? After all, there is a huge American military presence, plus Korean men have the mandatory 2 year military service.
Koreas probably the only place it won’t work cause everyone is military lol. As for American military you might just get charged more cause the military pays for housing and they charge them up to that amount. But regardless of military or not, ask doe a discount and you’ll almost always get one, and it’s expected in teal estate deals here. It’s a buyers market right now and it’ll only keep trending that way with population decrease
Good tour of the condos! How far is that from Camp Humphreys! Also, I know Tad is retired military but, will he be going between US and South Korea and bring his wife or family to live there as well?
Cause the concept is that they can use that deposit to get interest but lately interest has been low so owners like higher rent but they accepted our offer cause it’s still better than leaving it vacant
@@livetravelasia like the places you went what would rent be(roughly) if you did zero deposit for a year? and could do you longer than a year like 2 maybe? i plan on moving to south korea in a couple years and just trying to get as much real-estate knowledge as possible
Yup the suburbs. Tad got a car for only about 1300 usd here and it’s actually quite convenient to get around. But it’s not that much more expensive even closer to the city center either but the condos are usually just older. You’ll most likely find the new stuff more on the outskirts where it hasn’t been developed and these new planned cites are popping up everywhere in Korea
I really liked option 4 for myself. In what city is this apartment located? I would sign for 1 yr lease. Can you provide the real estate agent/ company?
You know my Dodgers hat was my favorite and I lost it a couple years ago in Jeju island. Saddest day of my life. The NY hat is something I got as a gift and it's the warmest one I got so I wear it but what I'd do for my dodgers hat... Chan ho park was my hero
Depends on what area or Bangkok I guess but yeah for anything remotely near the subway like this one... it’ll be hard to find. Especially something with free internet cable tv and no jurisdic fees. Right now Bangkok rentals are on clearance however cause of covid but that won’t last. In Korea you’re probably going to see these prices keep going down due to negative population growth and over development
@@livetravelasia Thanks for the info. How are you guys doing in Korea? When covidd crisis improves you may come visit us in bkk(?) Stay safe and take care.
How are you finding these apartments? I live in Seoul and the prices\deposit differs INCREDIBLY for foreigners. My husband and I are looking for villa apartments and they’re asking 10k DOLLARS for deposit.

actually I just found a room in seoul for cheaper and larger. The downside however is as expected, older. deposit was about 1k and monthly rent about 250
why are these places so cheap? is it built next to a nuclear power plant? is the water tainted like in Flint Michigan? is it moldy? I'm just wondering why the deals are so good... 🤔
It’s not seoul that’s why… koreans don’t want to live outside seoul so that’s why prices outside of capital city are so low bc no one wants to live there… and in seoul you’ll never ever find place like this for that kind of price… never
Prices is good, but Asan area is one of the worst air quality in Korea. This is one area where you will see Hazardous air quality in Korea, and it last for more then just a few days. Reason why Camp Humphreys is the worst air quality in all of the military bases in Korea.
I could believe that but relative to Seoul it’s not much worst. It’s pretty bad all around that area. For good air you’ll have to go on the eastern side of the peninsula across the Taebaek mountain range. Koreas air quality is bad largely in the seasons the bad air blows over from China
These are very old apartments. The vibe is very poor. At least I know now not to look at "villas" if I am getting a Korean apartment. The footage on the "smoke" smell.. the staircase has a very bad vibe coming from it. Won't be surprised if it's haunted. Even if it's $1, I won't wanna move in. A lot of trouble if it's the wrong house. Trouble as in big trouble.
Wow, those rental prices are really good. Got me thinking about retiring in Korea.
Yeah! It’s a great option
I need to move to Korea for real. Those rent prices are awesome

Not all money, they usually deduct 10%
@LIVE TRAVEL ASIA: Wow, cheap rent! 😊 How thin are the walls/ floors in Korea/ in those flats? Noisy neighbors can be hell! 😒

Where in South Korea are the third and last apartments you have showed located?
It’s in asan specifically. Near pyeongtaek on line one
