I am yet to see a UA-camr in the design space that is honest with his or her teachings like Chethan, a great teacher and mentor…Well-done Chethan, this content is fire🔥

In my honest opinion Femke is the only other designer worth following on UA-cam. She is the only other product designer with hard core practical industry experience who has worked at great companies. Her content is very actionable and I myself have learnt a lot from her content.
The rest are freelancers or web designers who just talk about UI and pixels and nothing deeper or anything about the industry.
Most of them are just repurposing content that’s already there and talking about it. They aren’t creating anything original using their own skills.

Man this video is really an eye opener...I have close to 6 years of experience back when I started we did not have any of those bootcamps we figured things on our own...and now when I go around hiring for junior folks they have a mentality of spoon feeding and most of these bootcamps who promises to make you a industry standard designer within 3 months...they all have a template cookie clutter case study... Designers need to understand bootcamps are there to make money it's a business if they have to sell you lie they will... because of these bootcamps people have started to think the entry barrier to start in design is almost negligence...And believe me on this after hiring designers from these bootcamps our company has blacklisted some of the bootcamps

Thank you for being candid about this. There is so much noise on social media these days. It's tough to cut through the bull$h&t if you are an aspiring product designer. Very fun to watch, thank you🙂You are very smart young man doing education, you will always earn more money with your education business than with working for a company. I'm still in the freelancing stage, been doing UX UI for 2 years,(I'm in Central Europe) and here is my problem: companies are only looking to hire specialists: only UX designer, only UI, only Product Strategy... When I get into a project, I only get to do 1 slice of that work, even if it's UI design, I only get to do a part of it. So how can I write a case study if I didn't do research, didn't do testing, or UX work?

This is it..! I always had these doubts from past 1 year, and that fear didn't allow me to switch the job...My doubts/fear was..
    1. What actually designers do..? It's very abstract expect UI stuffs, like colour, typography etc..etc.. Then allmost all designers do the same UI, they all know colour, typography and other stuffs and how they differ..? How to spot a talent then if all are same..?
    2. As I see LinkedIn,all designers change jobs after jobs with same designation, and with little bit better pay. This was alramaing issue for me.
    3. Instagram, UA-cam all are filled with design the same stuffs, buttons, screens and other stuffs. If desig was so easy then why they are paid so much.
    4. If learning figma is more than sufficient to get a 10LPA job, people from all backgrounds irrespective of education, age , profession could bece a designer.
In this video, I got full clarity on design industry.
    Thanks Chetan.

This video literally showed me what I'm lacking
The process of figuring thing out and actually enjoying the journey.
I started desiging 3 month ago, yes you mentioned it right, i did waste time on learning wrong, getting influence by social media. Those dribble site looks so good.
But after 2 month or so, i was lost, as i came to this conclusion if making those button and color is all designer do whats the difference betweeen a senior and junior aren't they just making doing same stuff? Everyone out thier says design is beyond those rectangle, but nome of them mentioned what? Also this design subject is diffetemt than tool, i have heard this 1000time but when i ask them okay can you explain? They just didnt reply, i thought its because maybe they dont like to talk to beginner or something.
I used to get a lot of crirticsm whenever i put my work on reddit or any social media for feedback, is it a design? I was discouraged for sure, as i thought hey it looks pretty according to me so why im getting hate? Dont designer just have to make a good looking site
Then there was another stage when i was overwhelmed tons of resources and eveyone is tellinh the same things, do i figure out what exactly I'm lacking for? Now this time it seems a whole river, where im afraid to even jump to swim.
I have got a lot to say, and do have so many question to ask. But it will take be so long, i dont know if you ever will read all my comments or not. But i will put here
And will text you social media too if you use them

Views on self-taught designers? Especially the starters/juniors?

As I mentioned in the video.
      1. Speed of learning is absolutely slow.
      2. Too much unnecessary pressure from peers and social media.
      3. Potential of freshers entering the industry is dropping year on year.
      4. They are always looking for courses or mentorship or some shortcut because they want to get things done really faster.
      5. Barely a handful of people entering the industry know how it feels to work hard and figure things out all on their own.
      6. They go behind getting the tag of a community or design university rather than focusing on learning the craft.

@@DesignPilot what would you advice that kinda guy/girl if he/she is not getting the job? Polishing the skills is given. But would you suggest them to take up boot camps?

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  Рік тому +3

Well it doesn’t matter what the person does. The person can join a bootcamp, do plenty of certification courses or something else.
But none of these are substitutes for becoming really good at your craft. This is the biggest problem. They doing these additional things is not a substitute for figuring things out in your own, trying and failing a 1000 times.
The goal needs to make sure your work is ‘FEEDBACK WORTHY’. Any senior designer looking at your work should enjoy giving feedback for free. Even if it’s for 15-20 mins. That’s what you need to aim for. Getting feedback by paying money is easy and doesn’t solve the purpose as it becomes a transaction rather than a favour.
Favours are more valuable as they don’t feel it to be an obligation.

      @@DesignPilot 'Feedback Worthy' 🤌
Thanks for replying. 1 more thing, Remote work or On-site? Times keep changing along with advanced technologies. I believe that this industry is made for remote work with a limited hybridization as the individual gets to think a lot better alone. How wrong am i on this? Feels like i am completely wrong 😅

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  Рік тому +4

I feel in the early stages of your career, it’s very important to work with people in person. It makes a big fat deal. You learn 100x more than doing meetings remotely. Could be getting feedback or presenting your work. It’s just much better.
Senior designers who are good at their craft can chill a bit at home cause they know how to do things and get things done 😅

This video is such an eyeopener for me. Thanks to Chaitanya (Lucy) from Linkendin who suggested me to start following your tutorials, follow u on insta, linkendin for more genuine insights at start of this week.
And this is the very first video today I watched before starting off with your tutorials..
I am a total beginner with few months into this field. And I can so much relate to the example you told about a mom who switched a career.
Thanks for this video once again, I wil surely take all these valuable points into consideration and be successful !
