Wow! Excellent tutorial.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the recipe & have a chance to make some Blackberry Jam yourself. Thanks for Watching!
can I take the seeds out or does that change the outcome
Taking the seeds out and straining the Blackberries would be more like a Jelly or a thin Jam. But is would still be tasty! Let me know if you try it and how it turns out! Thanks for Watching!
Do you have to Waterbath the jars?
The jars need to be clean prior to use; running them through the dishwasher prior to use works well. Otherwise, yes, the Blackberry Jam should be Water Bath Canned as mentioned in the video in order to make sure it is shelf stable. Happy Canning & Thanks for Watching!
What is the temperature of your water bath? And does it need to be boiling the whole time?
When Water Bath Canning, you want to maintain the proper temperature for the given item you are canning. I shoot for about 212 Degrees F when doing Jam for instance. You can check out the table on The National Center for Home Food Preservation website at the following link for reference. nchfp.uga.edu/how/general/food_pres_temps.html That is why I like to use a Lazer Thermometer to quickly check the Temperature and add my Jars for Processing. I provided a link in the description box below the video of the Lazer Thermometer I like to use. I Hope this helps & Thanks for Watching!
What is that burner you’re using?
That is the Cadco Stainless Steel Hot Plate (I like to use this as a Side Burner for Water Bath Canning or Cooktop Pressure Canning). I have included a link in the Description Box below the Video if you would like more information about this burner. Thanks for Watching!
10/25/23 can I do strawberry jam like the raspberry jam?
The same principles apply. You could also check out my Video on Strawberry Serrano Pepper Jam and leave out the hot peppers! ua-cam.com/video/wSfm7bVAYNw/v-deo.html Thanks for Watching!
