I like the ATR. It is the best Regional Aircraft on the Market. I had 27 ATR42-300/500 and ATR72-202/212/212A in the Operation at Eurowings and was the technical planer for the maintenance. During this time I also returned 9 ATR42-300 to the Manufacturer ATR in Toulouse.
Hi Skylite, oldies but goodies, never gets tiring. You do your best, and it speaks for itself. It always made me nervous, when Capt.or 1st Officer said " we will be on the ground shortly, we will be Landing shortly sounded so much better. Thanks Skylite for sharing your videos.
Lots of these are sitting in my hometown at our airport. They’re FedEx feeders and there’s still a few with this livery waiting to be transformed. CDA, Idaho.
Makes sense, since Empire Airlines was the airline who operated these flights for Hawaiian. I believe CDA is where Empire is based at. Thanks for watching my friend!
It is definitely a shame. I was actually really surprised when I heard the news a few days ago. That’s a large link for Molokai and Lanai lost. I did hear that Mokulele Plans to bring in Beech 1900D’s to help cargo capacities and people from those islands who don’t particularly like flying on the Grand Caravans.
Although new to your channel I've been very impressed with the quality and content of the videos I've watched so far. You don't see club seating too often on commercial airliners.
Yeah. 8L was closed during my last trip. I'm not sure what they were doing to it, but it meant almost everyone was using 8R for departure. Thanks for watching!
We're talking Ohana by Hawaiian, not Obama! :) During your taxi to the runway,it felt as though flying to Lanai wasn't in the cards,we're driving there! One wonders why HNL ATC felt the need to route us to the furthest runway--ATR's are not known for speed, seemed like we were taking the 'slow boat' to Lanai, simply humming away over the vast Pacific--two things about turboprops--they produce so much bass that most microphones can't capture it correctly and I've yet to see a digital camera that can film prop blades without major distortion--the blades look as though they reverse direction and in others' videos, the blades take on a weird, curvy shape--at one time, passengers had 3 air carriers to choose from for island travel--Aloha,Hawaiian and Island Air--did you spend any time at Lanai?
We were routed to the reef runway because the primary runway that is right next to the terminals was closed during this trip as HNL prepared for ANA's A380 service to start. The taxi was probably longer than the flight! I didn't spend much time on Lanai, no. I flew the route to fly on the Ohana by Hawaiian flight, and flew back out not long after I landed. Thanks for watching my friend!
HCF wants all turbine departures to use 8R between 9 and 3pm. It helps traffic flow from the mainland find a more efficient path to the terminal. Also, though ATRs Vmo/Mmo is 250/.55, there is little benefit to faster flight since LNY is a mere 63 NM away from HNL.
Relaxing, pleasant video. Some questions. Are the turbo-prop engines really that quiet in the cabin? Is Pearl Harbor to be seen at all in the video? What is that huge brown "bowl" like thing as the plane leaves the coast @ 21:02 ? Is that Diamond Head?
They are pretty quiet. In fact, the audio in this video is actually increased to 200% otherwise it sounded like it was muffled. Pearl Harbor isn't visible in this video, but I've got you covered. If you check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/7IIsnbcst24/v-deo.html you get great views of Pearl, including a US Navy submarine returning to port. The harbor is starting enter the frame on the right side of the screen at 6:15. You can see a line of Navy ships. You can see the submarine entering the harbor at 7:14. And Pearl pretty much fills the screen at 7:16. The submarine is visible again on the backside of the wing at 7:24. Also at 7:24 you can see the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona memorial as well. There is a talker white building right along the shoreline on the right side of the frame. Just below that and to the left if the Missouri and Arizona. What you're seeing at 21:02 is Diamond Head. Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone. Diamond Head is part of the system of cones, vents, and their associated eruption flows that are collectively known to geologists as the Honolulu Volcanic Series, eruptions from the Koʻolau Volcano that took place long after the volcano formed and had gone dormant. The Honolulu Volcanic Series is a series of volcanic eruption events that created many of Oʻahu's well-known landmarks, including Punchbowl Crater, Hanauma Bay, Koko Head, and Mānana Island in addition to Diamond Head. I pulled a lot of that from sources online, but basically it's an extinct volcanic crater. Hope that answers all your questions my friend. Thanks for watching, and have a happy holidays!
I honestly don't know for this particular flight, but I looked up the recently flights on fight aware and it looks like they typically fly this route at about 7,000ft. Thanks for watching!

Shame they have decided not to bring Ohana or the ATRs back
