I measured an effective ADS speed (time until crosshair stabilizes) and found that with overswing it took about 0.2s. having 1 less bullet in the mag gave me no overswing and my ads speed was 0.1s ! Pretty crazy jump.

My go to cheap svd build has always been just pso scope, cheapest railed handguard, with laser and canted sight. Has worked for me many wipes and this time its just fantastic and still cheap
PSO scopes always surprise me, they work pretty dang well for the price

Noticed the tarker jerky/meat thing seems to be excellent in it's weight-to-return ratio at the right price, better than lugging around tinned food, got me thinking about it and realised it wasn't something there's a lot of good info on in terms of effectiveness versus weight versus size versus avg market cost - seems like it needs a tier list!)

Ehhh... in the wipe that reduces recoil to historically low levels and made even unbuilt guns very controllable AND reduced armor effectivenes to historically low levels... sacrificing full auto for easier to obtain high pen ammo is a bit of a weird choice for a gun. But hey! You do you. Won't see me complain. "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake" and all that ;)

Tbh in terms of full auto + nice ammo, 7.62x39 is too recoily still even with a fully built RD/Mutant, but 7.62x51 is absolutely perfect on most guns. I think you can have the best of both worlds: full auto capability and "easy" to obtain high pen ammo (M80), though of course the SVD ammo is still easier.
I'd still take a nice M4 if it's anywhere near close quarters, as long as the ammo can pen class 3 you can dumpster anyone this wipe for sure.
Great build video and the raids were very entertaining :) Have you thought about making "high-light" videos of your stream? I don't catch streams that often and it's nice to follow streamers progress :)

I hated using the svd for punisher 6. Recoil is fine but it is outclassed into medium range by any auto rifle. Being stuck with t46m was hellish, I think it is bugged as I would be hitting people 8-12 times before they would drop. Not much fun at all. Ps ammo makes it decent but still, not my cup of tea.
I crafted lps and threw an opk-7 and just ran customs and it was smooth sailing. Lps chewed everything up

@@F0rMyS And yet they never voip in english on tarkov. Like they have to conciously select europe servers, otherwise the autoselector would put them on russian servers and they still speak russian. Was the same thing in CSGO and dota, dont want to play on russian servers but dont want to speak english either.
That was awesome bro, feels a bit like the m1a from last patch imo. I wonder if they are going to destroy the svd now with the patch i think i read something about the recoil of the svd.
i use the svd with pso scope, viper pdw stock and a decent pistol grip. the better handguards make little difference other than allowing the use of a laser or a canted sight.

Part of the fun is making the lobby fear you on woods because of svd spam that can be heard throughout the whole map
ive been using unsuppressed, max ergo svds as a closer range gun much like the vpo /ap-m with good results. its extremely effective if you hit 1 or 2 shots in close range, specially if youre lucky to find bs / snb in raid.
I think those guys were already in the bsg office when you arrived. Unless i'm mistaken, there was blood on the floor when you entered, and I think one or both were in Nikita's office hiding and healing. There's no way you wouldn't have heard them come up with comtac 4's on.
So why is the blue laser preferred over a flash light that can blind, see better with and also has a built in laser?

If your doing punisher 6 and want a cheap efficient build just run stock with a okp7 the cheap rail and the afg grip with a flashlight, and if you need a scope run the svd lower the suppressor isn’t really worth it
Patch 0.14 killed M1A - meta build with SASS chassis, QDC silencer, ARE+Moe stock with RK-1 grip has more recoil than stock RSASS.
I've been stanning the SVD for a good couple of years now, but something that they did to the ammo or armour, has broken it.
It takes waay too many rounds to put someone down, even with PS.
Its either head shots or nothing.

Used an SVD to get my first Kollontay Boss kill, was going well, as I was making my way out the raid, I had a brain fart and did the cursed game breaking bug of checking your mag and installing one simultaneously and with only 9 mins left in the raid, I wasn't able to load back in, In time, I was not very happy that night

Ergo is so important this wipe in my opinion. There have been so many people that I've killed just because i can draw my weapon and get one shot off faster.
now my question regarding ergo/weight etc. and ADS speed is that if it's impossible to reach that "quick" ADS breakpoint, should we bother with ergo at all? like the RPDN or ash-12 for example. even though an unsuppressed ash-12 has very good ergo, it doesn't matter because the gun weighs so much with a full loaded 20 round mag. so should i just entirely not care about ergo? if 60 ergo is the sweetspot for example, but i can only reach 58. is aiming down sight at 58 ergo, the same as aiming down sight at something like 34 ergo? cause then i will just *always* run the ash-12 suppressed since the extra ergo is worthless.
It's not a "snap" from having crazy overswing to non at all. It's pretty gradual. The "higher" you are above that blue line, the worse it's going to be. However the actual "tick" where you fall underneath overswing is going to see a pretty crazy reduction in your effective ADS time.
As for the time the guy uses to bring up the sights, I am very sure that it also follows the same formula as overswing, meaning that the closer you are to that blue line, the faster you're going to ADS (generally). There's also some strange stuff like with certain sights having faster ADS speed, however barrel overswing is actually a universal thing, and has nothing to do with specifics like weapon, sight, character weight, strength etc.
Being 2 ergo points away from overswing is still going to be very good, and at.. 30m the amount of overswing I'd assume is less than the width of a head so it doesn't really matter all that much. Will be more of a factor at longer ranges.
One major thing that you need to keep in mind is how ADS speed effects optics. Because of eye relief you just see a black for a fair amount of the overall ADS time, meaning that you want to reduce this as much as possible. With reflex sights it really doesn't matter as you can usually always see the target while ADS'ing, meaning ADS speed isn't very important at all.
Rule of thumb: Optic = high ergo, reflex sight = ergo doesn't matter.
Personally, I will usually use low capacity mags on my weapons as I love them to be snappy and usually don't shoot a lot. The low capacity mags almost always have better ergo, weigh less and carry less ammo which is actually a good thing because ammo also weighs a fair bit.

I have no idea what the price of the scope is, but that's a lot of money to invest when there are loads of scopes that will match it's efficiency when the weapon is as kicky as an SVD.

This is my 3rd wipe I think and I dont remember having sound this bad before, either you make so much noice that someone hears you 200m away OR you dont make a single sound and suprise someone

Drum mag won’t fuck your durability bro. Drum mag reduces your ergonomics (ads time and stuff). Ergo doesn’t affect jams

@@gghomie5740 im talking about duribilty being blow 93 and that means jams can happen and all extended mags have medium to very high chance of jamming what i didnt know is they couldnt jam above 93%
@@Chevalier_knight correct. drum mags will affect jams if durability is less than 93, until then dont overheat and you're good dealing with mags egro penalty only
Other than for the Punisher quest line, is there a reason to use the SVD over the SVT?

the SVT and SVDS are pretty close stock, but the SVDS you can upgrade so much more with mods where as the SVT you really can't do much with. SVDS is just... better.
i mean my ak with 100 ergo witch scope and no recoile is cool too xD
I have found the svd much more difficult to use since the recoil rework. Horizontal recoil is all over the place. Also as other people have mentioned for some reason it feels like it takes a lot more rounds to drop people. Full auto in most situations is flat out better now.

my first real wipe and this kind of depth scares me. the more i try to play the more i die to some bushjacker thats probably just testing out his new svd build he saw here... dying in eft still sucks but i keep coming back. must be some kultist voodoo i dunno.

No matter how much effort you've put into crafting the perfect loadout, it doesn't matter at all if you don't know how to use it ;) Skill always beats knowledge.
@@spacemonkey037 i know. that why i only use simple builds and try not to use to much time building stuff.. Its just not viable so much in wipe. I have not much time to play. 2 or 3 raids max and not even every day... so if id build something im pretty sure theres a rat somewhere waiting for my build or a geared player just sniping his quest off... still having fun for some reason even if i die a lot. XD
this is big. i always focused so much on ergo but now i see weight is almost as, if not more important. maybe its time to remove dust covers?
The dust cover is actually pretty important. For most weapon weights you're going to have a weight to ergo ratio of ca. 10 ergo points = 1kg.
On the calc I've included a calculation on the left side where you can see how many "kg" you are away from that blue line. This allows you to compare different attachments, to see which ones give you the most effective weight reduction. Do you want 15 ergo 0.5kg mod, or a 8 ergo 0.3kg mod? well.. now you can figure that out by comparing how much the weapon "weights" relative to the sweetspot.

My thinking is usually that you want to prepare yourself for the hardest fight, being those with beefy armor. The guys without armor aren't my worry, as they're probably going to have worse gear in general, so using low damage high pen bullets for them isn't the end of the world, and I'd much rather be prepared to take on the beefy boys.
how do you run the tac 30 without the awful frame drop
frames are going to drop no matter what with *any* magnified optic, it’s unavoidable because of how they’re rendered. it’s just about having a powerful enough PC that the drop isn’t really perceptible.
Dude the malfunctions are so ridiculous. If BSG wants to keep the dubs coming, they need to change it so you can repair your weapon to 100/100 durability.
Building an MP7 and running it for three raids before you can’t repair beyond 93 total durability is so silly. You’re going to punish me and force me to buy a whole new gun because I actually shoot my gun and survive with it? How backwards is BSG’s line of thinking on that?
This system should punish people who neglect their guns and don’t repair sure. But don’t force me to spend more time in stash switching attachments over to a whole new gun. At least not after three raids.

I killed someone with exactly this type of build like 3 weeks ago but then using an eotech. Have ya'll been testing this for a while now or?
technically I've been working on the calc since december, but... that guy is probably unrelated haha. In my opinion the benefit in running high ergo with a reflex sight is pretty low compared to an optic. I'd rather go full recoil focused build with an eotech.
just take a suppressor with you then if you need to you can just put it on there
The enemy will probably have moved or killed you by the time you put it on though :/ Can't say I'd recommend that approach all that much. Maybe more value in running it suppressed but taking the suppressor off if you need to, for... whatever reason.

Not impressed, the svd requires patience and I spam the trigger in close, leading to terribad accuracy, making it a terrible gun for me. Punisher part 6 sucked for me as normal while W keying. It’s fine if you are actually sniping.

For the SVD you are really trying to squeeze out every little inch of performance. So the Viper is kinda the only way to go here. There are also another type of PDW stock that you can fit which give you better effective weight than the GLcore stock from the STM.
Stock : svd, m1a, rfb are very bad in my opinion.very big horizontal comparing with sa58 and MDR 762.

for real. Any ammo below 40 pen is ass and you cannot get snb/bt/bs until level 4 traders. t46m is so bad. I've had multiple raids with 40+ hits on pmc's.
I'm still suffering from the punisher 6 PTSD, the mere presence of SVD disgusts me
There are too much cheaters going about, 6/10 raids, I entered without anything on, moved away from the start point but made no sound at all. Within fifteen minutes, I was shot from within 10 meters ( I made sure the only avenue to be shot was from 1 specific line and distance) every time it was no sound from the shooter even though I seen no suppressor on the gun. Another issue, is lag disconnected kills. All is good at any time, I hear a step, next thing I know the %loss jumps to 11 and quickly increases till disconnect. I relog back in and wow... Dead (it needs to still give info on who kills you as it presently doesn't). Just too much cheaters.
This gun is trash. Go with a basic svt w/ pu scope. You slap chads for 60k rube plus 300rb tracer rounds and it always comes back in insurance.

Trash? not at all. The SVD is effectively just an SVT that you can mod. It's just plain better.
If affordability is the only thing you look at in a weapon, then yes, it's trash.

The svd is one of the worst guns in the game now with ammo and recoil changes making everything else infinitely more viable.
the SVD exists to suit a very specific playing style. The only decent DMR if you don't have access to good ammo for the others.

@@Tarkovisstillfun The SVDS requires PS (or better) to be worthwhile. If your requirement for a weapon is to be effective against class 4 helmet opponents at ranges up and over 300m, the SVDS might be your only choice.
@@spacemonkey037 well if you have ps unlocked, then I'd definitely take m80/m62 instead since I wouldn't be running 20k in a clip and I wouldn't be forced into using the ungainly svd. Or I'd run the sv98. I'll be able to get significantly more shots with better accuracy using a variety of different guns using m80 over trying to deal with the sway and buck of the svd. Plus it can be weirdly inaccurate.

It's a near perfect tool. You get to do equations on the left side and show stuff visually as well. And sharing it with others is also very easy. It's simply awesome!
