2023, I’m 37 and rocking this song on AirPods while my toddler is asleep 😂 used to listen to this album as 15 year old on my portable CD player 20 years ago
Favorite song of the whole album! I remember exactly what I was doing while listening to this AMAZING album. Working my Saturday morning job 5am - 1pm as a 15 year old washing cars, sweeping floors, painting wall and doors, and anything else required at the car repair shop my dad was a panel beater and paint technician at. My Dad taught me to drive around the estate in insurance write-off cars in the crispy still early mornings in coastal south east England. The break room walls were covered with pages from the sexy magazines and much of my music taste was directed by the diverse young and old people there. The work was hard, but honest and sobering. It gave me the drive break free from the conditions, and likely future I was born into.
Those who know this band, know how good they truly are. Any real musician can hear how solid of a band this is. I'll always have my AAF stage every year, where I just can't stop jamming to their self-titled album.
It was 2002 but they dont sound like a typical band from around that time, the guitar, the bass, the progressions. They are real world class artists who were shadowed by the avalanche of 2000s rock bands with generic commercial music. Its about time they get the recognition they deserve
Yea, I specifically came here hoping to see Mike Cosgrove play the intro of this song, it was disappointed to see most of it just cut out. Pity they had to trim about a minute off this song's original length, a lot of the instrumental parts suffered because of it. "Wish" is another great track with great drumming.
When this track dropped ironically my heart was devastated going through a divorce, now almost 50 looking back older and wiser, things get better, much better. Such a beautifully sad track that’s needed for this path called life. Big ups and mondo respeck 👽
I had a buddy tragically die in a wreck when we were sophomores in high school when this album came out... I connected my buddy's death with this song and I cried every time i played it, which was a lot! It still gets me a little emotional because i wish i could have witnessed the man he could have become. He was an awesome dude and friend, so the world lost a good one too early
One of the most expressive songs ever written it captures emotion and thought and honesty in a way that rigs you into a reflective mode that hurts and feels good at the same time. Longing embracing space and the need for it while connecting. Hell I feel lonely in crowds. I get where this song is streamcasting and nichecasting from. Special track thanks AAF!
I just watched the podcast interview with Mike Cosgrove and found out that Dryden didn't initially start out as vocals. Just think, if he hadn't decided to take a crack a vocals, we might not have gotten this great group and the great songs
they jumped onto the hype that was 80's song remakes and had a lot of success, but paid a heavy price by never having their awesome music heard. cheers from iceland
I listened to this as a reminder of the better days. I can hear Chester saying you are welcome to all of us. Different band, but They were all in it together.
Such multifaceted talent in this band. Loved hearing/waking up to their hits in middle School on the music video channel in the early 2000’s. This music still hits today.
+Alex NDG Go support them!!!! i'm 20 and have been to 6 shows in the last 2yrs, they do tours all the time in the states a Europe and could really use some real fans showing up for them (:
+Alex NDG I have never heard of these guys. Sound good. Got here because someone commented on the Delray Misfits that Andrew looked like the lead singer.
This is a seriously talented band and I started to listening to them back in 2001 I was only 14 but I truly appreciate their music. It just saddens me that people mistaken them as a comedy or joke band when instead they were just having fun and a good time with everything.
I specifically came here hoping to see Mike Cosgrove play the intro of this song, it was disappointed to see most of it just cut out. Pity they had to trim about a minute off this song's original length, a lot of the instrumental parts suffered because of it.
I’ve been a touring drummer all my life and one night in some city a kid came up to me and said “Dude you play like Mike Cosgrove!” And it was the best compliment as a drummer I ever received, he’s a huge influence on me.
I've always kinda thought its probably bc the studio forced them to release Smooth Criminal as their breakout song. I think a lot of people chalked them up to a novelty band, when in reality thats not the case.
El Chingón BJJ interesting take but I don’t think that’s true. It was their breakout but I don’t think they were pressured to put it out. I think they were very proud of that cover. It’s a great cover.
I remember clearly when the band released this album they where also competing with a ton of other good bands also(korn, mudvayne, system of a down, new found glory, my chemical romance etc) they got lost in the library of releases but they did great they had a great run the band just broke up and then the lead singer suffered a back injury. But this band has featured songs in videogames, movies and tv shows im betting they are still earning a good chunk of cash from that.
This song just pulls so many emotions out of me but calms me at the same time. Through dark times it just balances my head. I met AAF in Manchester 2019 (i think) and they were really approachable and kind, I had a little talk with the drummer about being on tour, missing family and his daughter etc.. very genuine, real people. Thank you for this song 🤍
eins2001 People always say that, and then they never tell the person they’re responding to where to look! So it’s pointless! OP, check out the Audiotree website. They showcase good new artists.
I remember recording my first album with AAF in the next studio. Awesome guys, and if it werent for that bus accident, they would be strong at it still today. Bring them back all the way!
100% agree having them step out of mainstream touring for the years while his neck healed really hurt the trajectory that they were on truly sad as this is definitely one of my three albums on a desert island list

Going to see them tonight in Chinnery's, Southend, Essex. my husband grabbed tickets at silly o'clock in the morning as they sold out in less than an hour! so excited! married mother of three but I'm going to relieve my teen years!!
There was so much good music being pumped out at that time. Plus this was their 3rd single off the album so stations were already into the next big thing.
The last time I listened to this song was probably more than 17 years ago on a radio station (when I could barely understand some English) and yet the whole lyrics popped into my mind as if by magic. Great music was created at that time and good Rock hasn't died, you just need to look harder, though. 39 now but for the 4 minutes this song lasted I felt in my 20s again.
I watched the Smooth Criminal video waiting for the bus in middle school (shoutout to Sum 41's Fat Lip and Ludacris Saturday Oooh Oooh) and I knew a little about "Movies", but I never heard from them since.
Probably one of their best songs of them. The vibe is great when you listen to this with headphones. What I like is the contrast between this song a "Courage". These guys have talent.
It's a shame that these guys are known for 'Smooth Criminal' and 'Movies', because this song was more typical of their sound. This song reminds me of a very specific period in my life. there was about a year period after I graduated from high school in 2002 to when I joined the Army in 2003 where I had a lot of uncertainty about the direction of my life. This song was one of many that got me through that confusing time. "...Your Attitude Is Welcome, You Are Welcome!" Edit March 2023: Thanks for all your wonderful comments! I still come back to this song whenever I am feeling any uncertainty in my life. It's a reminder that I can find my way through a confusing time, whether it's a job, school, or relationship.
The first song that I heard from them was These days then I listened to this and these two are my favorites now! And in my opinion these two are way better than Movies or Smooth Criminal! (Those are good too)

AAF get nowhere near the amount of credit they deserve. Such an underrated band.

One of the best bands of the 2000s. I'm a real stickler for vocals, and I think this guy's got a great voice.

Maybe I act on confused behavior
Maybe waves crash like semi trailer
Maybe I'll spend my off time without you
It seems like we need our own space
And all the time I wasted away
I don't feel good unless you stay
And all the times I chased you away
Simply to catch back up with
Your solitude is welcome
Your attitude is welcome
All you see is red lights behind me
Maybe this isn't what you wanted baby
I don't blame you falling backwards
No one's ever quite confused you this way
And all this time we wasted away
We don't feel good unless we're gray
And all the times I chased you away
I simply don't feel good
All this time, we heard alarms
Come to find, we fell apart
This whole thing has crashed down, crashed down
All this time, we heard alarms
You are welcome
