Parthian: “My camel mount and I have super-heavy armor, scare horses, and I have an AP secondary attack!” Seleucid: “I am riding an elephant. Your argument is invalid.”
Tldr never engage elephants with cavalry. War elephants are probably the most op units in the game, your only chance are lots of fire arrows or pigs. Well micro managed big elephants are unbeatable, they also have archers so they out range the peltasts and skirmish quite well.
after watching them mop up companion cab like it was nothing, I figured they would breeze on through everything till they hit the elephants. Perhaps I have treated scythed chariots too harshly.
Scythed Chariots are also busted OP in Auto Resolve in Rome Remastered. A handful of them can wipe out a stack of Roman troops. I have to try that in the original RTW.
Remember, ungulates, and beware. An elephant could be hiding behind every fat rock, large tree, and novelty-sized blade of grass.
:D Indeed. Thanks for the comment.

Well put :) Thanks for the comment.
You know, I just had a passing thought about loose formation with cavalry. Would that have any impact when fighting Elephants?
An interesting idea. I will add it to TO-Do list :) Thanks for the comment.

I'm surprised how rarely I see elephants skirmishing in multiplayer, to be fair they do perform it quite well. Especially with attack upgrades.
Thanks for the comment. Agreed, not a good move :)

Thanks for the comment. Yea, the chariots rather wheezed over them :)
I wonder if their loose formation hurt them in that fight. I think regular Catas did better against scythed chariots

Cavalry can route elephants with well times charges. If you keep them in melee they will be slaughtered thought
Hmm. Sounds interesting :) Thanks for the comment.
so camels have no combat bonus against elephants? that's a bit disappointing because elephants are too strong in this game.
Thanks for the comment. Yea, that would increase the utility of camels quite a bit :)
