Thank you!! This is exactly what I needed. The other videos up right now came with spoiler warnings? Like... if I was done with the story why would I need a tutorial??
i think i know which one youre talking about, the reason why the other tutorials have spoilers is because they cover good gem equipment for superbosses and how to make them, less of a general tutorial and more of a VERY late game tutorial
@@SuperZombiepimp Because what videos like it spoil are all the games party members which cannot be hidden once you've obtained them. Also it is a guide for a crafting system that heavily changes based on what party members are doing said crafting so it is necessary to spoil that when you're making an advanced post-game focused guide
Important to mention and why you should always aim for mega heats. On top of getting two gems instead of one, they will be guaranteed to have the maximum stat modifier of their tier, bypassing any element of luck which is just such a great feature.
Also, the best combo for cylinders is Sharla shooter + rikki engineer while adding multiple traits at once, and the better combo for Mega Heat is shulk shooter + reyn engineer while only using cylinders to only have one trait in the list.
@@xakuray5522 I'm having difficulty isolating cylinders, using Sharla + Riki I still tend to go over 100% just a bit. Is there anything to improve my chances of staying just under, or is it largely RNG and thus I need to just keep reloading until I get it?
@@Starwars4J that's what happens when everyone is high affinity with each other. The best thing you can do is stay with that duo of sharla shooter + Riki engineer but add more traits that you don't necessarily want, usually 4 to 6 traits when your desired trait is low (~40% or less) and more when it already pretty close to 70% or higher. If you still have low affinity between two members, maybe use them as a duo instead for traits with very high % but you can definitely still do it with the method above and a bit of luck. I hope I was helpful to you.
@@JRPG-Mickey That's not very important during your first playthrough, but if you're going for a second run or doing super bosses, you DEFINITELY need to reach max level (VI) at max capacity with your gems, especially Night Vision. That's when the Max Heat comes in play.
This was a huge help. I would love to see a video on skills and sharing skills between party members at some point! This is my first Xenoblade experience, and I'm loving it so far. Definitely a different kind of game than what I'm used to.
Thanks a lot!I actually understand crafting now! Managed to get 4x Agility Up V using Mega Heat first try. Can't believe I'm lvl 77 and only jsu crafting!
Riki is SUPER OP for crafting high- level gems. I only have 4/5 affinity between him and Reyn(wich only gives me 7-11 turns), yet more often than not I reach 300%+ when starting with a single attribute at ~120%. I have also been able to use crystals with 4 attributes that all start at around 160%, and managed to get ALL OF THEM past 300 when using Riki and nr. 7(who is great with medium flames) at max affinity. The reason why is basically because Riki's skill makes him get many more turns than what it says, meaning there's a much higher chance you'll get help from the party and reach fever.
Another note, weak crystals is a good thing to sell. So if you have level 1 gem crystals and level 2 & 3 gem crystals, just sell all the level 1 ones to get some cash.
I mean i had no idea how it worked, one time i got mega heat, 2 level 6 anti topple gems, the next time i got trash and i did exactly the same thing both times. I always thought pressing A actually did something in the crafting, but it literally only speeds up the animation ='D
Thanks for this video! You gave really good insight and i think i understand now! i been playing for a while (lvl 60) but have stayed away from gems becoz i don't understand it. but now i think i should actually care about affinity between characters just becoz of the gem system (otherwise i couldn't care if they hate each other, lol) Riki's "sidekick" battle comment cracks me up! 🤣
This was very helpful! I have opted not to spoil anything in the game...., i succeed on most parts but this was in foreign (needless to say I've wasted a ton of good mats lol) Knowing what i saw here will enhance my gaming experience. so here dude, have a Sub! Keep up the good work
Overall riki+Ryan is better for making gems to mega heat in definitive edition Fever activates at 4% with shulk and skill(1% base, 1% shulk, 1% engineer with fever pitch skill, 1% fever pitch skill on shulk) 3% anyone else but riki which means it most likely won't activate and and if it does it has a 30% chance to end per shot after 3, max 10, average is ~5 shots which is around 18 average shots per run if activated, 12-15 with 5 additional shots Riki gives up fever for double shots(flame effects happen 2ce), meaning his minimum is 24 max is 30, meaning unless someone fevers 2ce(statistically unlikely) he is best for making mega heat and Ryan has 80% chance to activate strong flame which is why he is paired up with him, in the 3ds and wii version his skill is busted so it doesn't work, and Dunban and Ryan are best with dunbans bonus For cylinders sharla and riki Riki has 80% gentle flame chance, sharla has a +25% per gentle flame ignite, making it best for her for cylinder crafting
Nothing in this game was straightforward it took me a long time to figure out gem crafting. I am by no means and advanced player I'm not even intermediate but getting better I need to learn what the more obscure gems do and figure out some better party set ups. That's why I came to this video to learn more about this game battle system.
That's a great question. There's a massive quest you can complete in restoring Colony 6 eventually in the game. When you partake in that quest, you'll get the ability to gem craft through the menu.
That's the cylinder gauge. It will fill up while you’re crafting gentle flame(The green flame). The number that is shown at the top of the gauge will determine how many qualities you’re able to keep that don’t exceed 100%. I recommend using Riki and Sharla as the Shooter and Engineer if you want more ether cylinders.
This most likely comes too late, but just for anyone else who's wondering: you can equip gems to weapons and armor that have the "Slot" quality - their item icon has a teal background. Once you equip such an item, you get a black gem icon next to them in the equip menu. Select the gem slot to equip a gem of your choice. As for what they do - it says so on the tin: they up your stats, give your weapon added elemental damage or a chance to inflict status effects, grant resistance or outright immunity to elements and status effects, grant you more XP/AP/SP/money from fights, change the amount of aggro you generate, lower the detection ranges for certain types of enemies, etc. Unique equipment (marked red) have gem slots that are already filled in and cannot be changed.
I'll have to get back to you on it, but a lot of people actually comment this on THIS specific video! I'll get back to you on the tracks...I know that most of them are Yasuhisa Watanabe made! Power Dolls!
No, because he was talking about the quality that didn't hit 100% (Agility Down), thus not becoming a gem unlike the quality that he was crafting for (Agility Up)
Correct, that’s part of the crafting system: you pick gems/cylinders until it goes past 100%, and then you have to craft. So if you have two gems with 50% of a certain trait, you can’t add more. The trick is to add up gems that result in higher numbers, say, one gem of 50% and two of 40%. Or two of 85%, or something.
In cases like this, be sure to change the RNG a bit. Doing something like purchasing an item at the store, or fighting an enemy typically changes the RNG enough to get out of the seed you're in.
I don't have time to watch all of this so I have a question: when it says that someone's great with strong flames, does that mean it will fill more, or they r more likely to get strong flames?
Yes, it really helps a ton. It makes the crafting process animations happen faster, and it cuts out the voice lines which also makes it faster, since there is no more pause for chatter. Not sure why he didn't press that button it or let anyone know about it.
Hey thanks for the guide. I like your style compared to that other guy made by Enel. I can't even watch the other guide due to his shitty spoilers. Yours doesn't include it so yeah...
So speed up does nothing? Here I thought it allowed you were supposed to use it to take advantage of the flame your engineer and shooter were the best at.

How do I get to gemcrafting thru the menu? Do I have to go back to colony 9 to do gemcrafting?
That's a great question. There's a massive quest you can complete in restoring Colony 6 eventually in the game. When you partake in that quest, you'll get the ability to gem craft through the menu.
You unlock the quest for the mobile Ether Furnace after getting everything in Colony 6 to level 1.

Very nice guide, ty.
What is this music? I love it.
I once got a little over 400% unfortunately no extra bonuses or gems. And the percentage was still capped at the usual cap.
Once you max out everyone’s affinity you can get past 500% with Riki and Reyne. Wish there were some rewards for getting that high.
I played like ten hours of 2, and I don’t remember there being anything deep like this in the game
Yo what music did you use for this? It kinda goes hard
It’s sick.
I appreciate that guys! I listen to a lot of obscure video game music. I'll start putting it in the description.
One of them was from Super Monkey Ball 2, the whale world. ua-cam.com/video/fegCBemCrfU/v-deo.html

while you at it you can save scum before doing this until you get a mega flame
where can i make gem in maps?
Do I need more party members to properly utilize this? I have Shulk, Reyn, Sharla, and Dunban right now.
I had over 90 hours on xenoblade and had no idea mega heat existed
What music is this?
Thanks for this buddy
So when you craft you just sit and watch to dont have to press anything?
Thank you soooo MUCH!
No really thanks this helped me a lot.

dope tunes. wish i knew what they were

3:25 You mean Lv3 AGILTY UP Gem? You said Agility down twice
No, because he was talking about the quality that didn't hit 100% (Agility Down), thus not becoming a gem unlike the quality that he was crafting for (Agility Up)
To you! To me! To you! To me!
Does timing matter when crafting
Every time I hit 100% it says I've maxed out and can't add any more and need to make a gem out of what I have now 🙄
Correct, that’s part of the crafting system: you pick gems/cylinders until it goes past 100%, and then you have to craft. So if you have two gems with 50% of a certain trait, you can’t add more. thanks good sir
