Imagine being in that audience in Toledo 1956, this is why and how Elvis changed music, such raw vocals driving the ladies wild and gaining the admiration of many male fans. Great news report, the Graceland sale chaos was a crazy time for a short period, people will stop at nothing for money and greed. I will not even attempt the trivia this month, reverse songs are impossible for me. Great news report as always.
You will say " Ohhh, yes...no I hear it! ", when I play the correct answer to the trivia.

Yes the graceland thing was bizarre but if any other singer his estate would be fighting this for 3,4 years or just now resolve it after several years look at the james brown,prince,Michael Jackson and atetha Franklin mess when they died this story came and went within a week good work riley your mom and granddad would be proud.

Really. Of course I remember. How could you forget Elvis looking like a Greek God in the gold lame suit? The performance I saw in Toledo, he only wore the jacket. In Chicago he wore the complete suit. Will never forget the response when he walked on stage. Pandemonium doesn’t even begin to describe it. You could not hear one word that he sang. Documented in Toledo and Chicago papers. In the Chicago papers there are pictures of women jumping from the balcony to try and get to Elvis. Luckily, they landed on security personnel. Mink coats, pants and bras were thrown all over the stage. Some people had to leave the main auditorium because the screams were so shrill and constant that the ringing became unbearable. My father was one of them. I don’t believe that anyone there had experienced anything like it! I have pictures, copies of the papers, posters and many other items. Most are in a secure place and are heavily insured. Elvis autographed 4 of the pictures and 1 poster. All of the concerts I went to in 1956 and’57 were unbelievable but incomparable! This is from someone who has seen many revered blues artists, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Metallic, Ice-T, +3 current rappers and nothing compares to Elvis. I have seen him many times throughout the years and NO ONE commands a stage like THE MASTER!!! When Elvis went on tour in the ‘70,s, the response was not as raucous; but in Chicago in’72, after the Friday evening performance, because of people still throwing articles of clothing, etc., before the Saturday afternoon performance, they announced that if anyone as much as got up out of their seats, they would be removed from the stadium! Never heard that before. If interested, I will tell you what happened. 💕E!!!
Saw and heard those videos. Glad someone was able to get some sound; however, newspapers reported that they didn’t know if Elvis could sing because they couldn’t hear one word! Billy Smith, his stepbrother, who changed his last name to Presley because Elvis always wanted that to happen: asked Elvis, after he saw him perform for the first time, if he wasn’t afraid. E asked why. He said they were screaming and coming after you. E said that’s because they love me. Billy said they must love you a lot! Too true!!! The Vegas performances were really “calm” compared to the 50’s.

I agree. I mean there is so much of the Seventies..., but hardly any from the 1950s live shows.
You can really hear the pandemonium during those concerts. As if Elvis really came from another planet in those days.

I am not expecting a 'regular' concert film: I think that Baz will be putting his stamp on it.
I don't expect that he is aiming at the Elvis fans: If the movie companies want to make a profit he must come with something that will also attract the non-Elvis fan to the cinema. Just like he did with the ELVIS 2022 movie.
We just have to be patient; and in the meantime I will be reporting about it, when news comes available.

Wish you would have played the other Baz clip at that event where he says "It's going to happen! Elvis concert footage fans, IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!". Joel Weinshanker also confirmed on his Graceland podcast that it's happening!

I have a question for you Mike as you mentioned that you are listening to Joel Weinshanker's podcasts. Can you share any information about the EPE's plans to participate in an Elvis Impersonators movie? I know that ETA's can make a living in The States, but outside the USA there is hardly a market for them. Did Joel tell - for instance - if the 'impersonator's movie' will be first? Just words. The footage has been there all along, (Rick Schmidlin 2000) so just because he got his hands on it, doesn’t mean he’s going to be able to do anything with it. I’ll believe it when I see it. 😊
@@ElvisPress There's a different clip on UA-cam where Baz talks about an Elvis surprise coming then he says about the unreleased EOT footage "I think it's going to happen. In fact I KNOW it's going to happen. It's going to happen". As for the ETA movie, Weinshanker did talk a little about it on the same Inside Graceland podcast back in September 2023, that it's gonna be made at Graceland. It's to be a documentary that goes behind the scenes of the lives of the ETAs and how they discovered Elvis and that an international film director that contacted him and pitched the idea to EPE. He did say the ETA film was to come out in 2024.
@@FrankieLovesElvis It's NOT just words. Joel Weinshanker also confirmed it. "There's tens of hours of never-before-seen concert footage that we're working on for a new project with Baz and Warner Brothers". It's on his Inside Graceland podcast on Elvis Radio on Sirius.

Als ik jou was zou ik nu wel verder gaan zoeken waar deze liquid vinyl wel te bestellen is. Ik denk dat Henrik hem wel zal hebben..., maar die vraagt (net als Erik L.) wel de hoofdprijs. Wellicht is het een idee om even 'out of the box' te denken en specialistische vinyl winkels / outlets te benaderen. Er zullen er ongetwijfeld 1 of 2 in Nederland zijn die dit soort zeldzaamheidjes aanbieden. Nu alleen nog maar zoeken... ;-). Als het je gelukt is..., laat me dat dan even weten! Groet, Emiel.

Bill Black's bass on the Long Tall Sally clip sounds like an electric bass to me. Normally, an upright bass wouldn't be heard that loud. The amplification methods for doubles basses were pretty crappy back then. I know he used a Fender Precision Bass on Jailhouse Rock (the song) and used a Fender Telecaster Bass in 1957 live as well. He couldn't get the intro bass line done for "Baby I Don't Care" so he threw the bass down in frustration. Elvis picked it up, put his foot on a chair and played the bass intro and complete song (most of you know, I assume). As a side note, Sam Phillips once said that Bill Black was the worst bass player he knew, but he sure could slap that thing 😅 But still, this clip of Long Tall Sally doesn't sound like a double bass to me, though.. can anyone elaborate on this?

It is hard to figure out from 2 x 6 seconds of sound what kind of Bass Bill was playing! But it could be true.
Having said that...I think Bill bought an electric Bass in 1957 for the Jailhouse Rock sessions.
Maybe - and I am not sure - it sounds different because this recording was taped by a single microphone of a radio diskjockey. So the audio quality is very limited.

Ik denk niet dat Baz dit ongefundeerd roept. Het is niet de eerste keer dat hij aangeeft met dit project bezig te zijn. We moeten niet vergeten dat Baz een 'prijzen-pakker' is. Zijn films zijn bekroond (in diverse categorieen) met Golden Globes en een aantal Oscars. Het is daardoor dat film-maatschappijen aan hem wel geld willen spenderen omdat zij er praktisch zeker van zijn dat zijn project uiteindelijk winst zal maken. Het voordeel is dat al het filmwerk al gedaan is. (Het wel tricky watn TTWII is op 16-mm film gefilmd..., en On Tour op 8 millimeter! Zie dat maar eens aan elkaar te plakken zonder het op te merken!!).
Maar zo makkelijk zal het maken van een concertfilm niet gaan. Ik ken de reputatie van Baz en reken er maar op dat hij zijn stempel op dit project zal willen drukken. Verwacht niet een 'gewone' concertfilm, want daarmee trek je alleen de Elvisfans de bioscopen in. Nee..., ik denk dat we iets totaal anders voorgeschoteld gaan krijgen. Om winst te maken zal je ook de niet-fan moeten verleiden om naar de bioscoop te komen. En dat heeft hij dondersgoed gedaan met zijn ELVIS-2022 film. Dus ik laat hem lekker 'broeden' en ik laat me gewoon lekker verrassen met wat hij komt.
Tenslotte: In het verleden waren MGM en Warner Brothers nooit te vermurwen om iets moois te maken voor de fans met het onuitgebrachte materiaal. Ik denk dat we God op onze blote knietjes mogen danken voor een man als Baz Luhrmann. Hij heeft voor ons de connecties weten te leggen tussen de film-maatschappijen en de platenmaatschappij. Vroeger stonden die tegenover elkaar en hielden projecten tegen. Nu is Baz de connectie voor ons als Elvis fans, dus ik geef hem graag de kans. - Groet, Emiel.

"SCOTCH & SODA" is the brand name of the store that sold these shirts...
They are still in business www.scotch-soda.eu/nl-en , but the Elvis collection has sold out, and will not come back in stock.
