    I believe that Allen greeted his mother-in-law, who was in the audience, with "Hi, Doll!" It happened frequently; so sweet!

      His FUTURE mother-in-law, as Allen and Betty weren't married yet. They married in June 1963.

      They weren't even MARRIED yet. Nor did they even MEET until she came on Password. I knew it already, but to make others happy (cause I've seen someone else say that), I Googled it again. So no, I highly doubt that he was saying that to his future mother-in-law since he didn't even KNOW here

      I have to say both Allen and Steve looked at Gail. She was pretty reminded me of Eydie.

    We lost Steve on March 7, 2024. He was incredible singer, actor. He and Eydie stayed married till her death 2013. What a loss!!!.

    The contestant Barbara won $500 after the 2nd lightning round. So given inflation, that $500 in 1963 would be worth $4, 054.67 today.

    Very cool to see this featuring Steve Lawrence DURING his song, "Go Away Little Girl," an enchanting song I've ALWAYS loved(!); & he's been blessed with that great voice which helped take it to #1!

    I think Florence is one of the best players, she's quick, smart and plays sensibly, I'd rank her with Carol Burnett and Anthony Perkins as the best three. Wouldn't it have been good to see those three play a special password show?
    BTW I love the way women dressed in this era, smart, classy and chic but not too elaborate or overdone, or stiff. I loved Florence's simple updo and dress.

    And since Steve Lawrence and his teammate never got to the 5th word when time ran out, it's probably why it wasn't revealed in this instance after that Lightning Round ended.

    Notice how Mister Allen Ludden snubbed Bossa-Nova, at 06:42 (... that Bossa-Nova thing...)
    Little did Mr. Ludden know that (besides Eydie Gormé's "Blame it on the Bossa-Nova"):
    01. Three months down the road, Ruby and The Romantics would reach Billboard's Hot 100 Number One spot, with their syncopated, Bossa-Nova rendition of "Our Day Will Come", and;
    02. The following year (1964), this musical genre would take the United States by storm, with Stan-Getz/Astrud-Gilberto, and "The Girl from Ipanema".

    The really funny part of this clip occurs at about 17:00, when Florence Henderson had to get her partner to say, "bunch." Had this show been a few years later, the ideal clue would've been "Brady" ("Brady Bunch" being the title of the series Florence Henderson starred on).

    I find it interesting that when words like “bikini,” and “pajamas” come up as Passwords, no one uses “swimwear,” or “sleepwear” as clues. I can only assume that these are new terms that were not in use in this era.
