I was just going to ask that question in general. I didn’t look at the date. Now that I’ve seen Lawford in person, I’m not understanding the allure he had from what I’ve read. Was he ever an actor? Or was he always a producer?

There are two players that always slow down this game :Peter Lawford and the obnoxious Danny Thomas. Everyone else (apart from Paul Inka's intense stare) are always great

I still don't understand how "shhhhhhh" was disallowed, even with the explanation......
"Shhhhhh" isn't a word. The explanation was made up to prevent giving any more of a clue to the contestants.
A similar thing happened on Password Plus. Tom Kennedy said "Shh isn't a word, it's an utterance, and there are no utterances allowed."
I got it. If they had said "shush" it would have been ok.
scratch that. Shush would have been disqualified because it contains the word.

I am scratching my head as to why she would have given that word for a clue to an English-French ( P.L.) guy who lived in N.Y.C. and Hollywood for showbiz stuff. I was born in the States, and I know NO reason why Arkansas would be a clue for "Traveler". Very odd. Cost her some $.
Maybe someone from Arkansas can enlighten us. About the only reason I know for visiting the State of Arkansas is to see the Ozarks and visit the A.G. Russel knife shop.

Or,,,,, the Show producer /stage hand could have brought P.L. a glass of water and some throat lozenges / cough drops and put them on the desk, instead of foolishly thinking that a sore throat / cough just goes away because the camera is on. Surely , someplace in the studio there was a coffee, tea, Hot cocoa or water dispenser, and a candy machine with a roll of mints. 🙄

Interesting sign of the times, reference to the Panama Crisis, the riots that happened due to the US run canal. it was LBJs first international crisis he dealt with as president.

For “prune”, maybe “plum”? (I was actually thinking of an elderly grammar teacher I had in junior high, but I don’t think “Mrs R______” would get too many people guessing that clue correctly. And Mrs R? If you’re out there, I NEVER, not ONCE, ever in my life needed to diagram a complex compound sentence with a dangling participle….beyond 8th grade. I’ll forever remember your prune face as we all struggled.
A couple things: 1st of all I'm thinking for "Timber" a probably workable 1st clue would be the word "Tree" (but said starting to look up ... and the head bowing down as you continue saying the word over the course of 2 to 3 seconds…) "Treeeeeeeeeeeeeee..." And it could be said with sort of like 2 syllables to really drive it home. I think it would have cinched it in one clue.

I thought Allen was getting a bit annoying making jokes about Peters sore throat, a couple would have been OK, but it's a bit unkind to keep going, when he's clearly struggling to get through the show. He should have had some cough sweets or a drink, might have helped.

Contestant guy probably got hired at the U.S. State Department as a speech writer. 🤪

Pray tell: Does anyone in You Tube comments land understand why the woman contestant said "Arkansas" as a clue for "Traveller" ??? 🤔 I'm born and raised in the States and know nobody who thinks Arkansas is a travel destination or traveler's place.
P.L. was born in the U.K. and raised in France. Why/how would he know anything about the State of Arkansas? If that woman contestant is alive and on Y.T., I hope she will explain that clue.
