    two things moving forward. 1) adding a slip clutch, reduces the driveline length, and in many instances the driveline should be re-measured, and sometimes cut down to prevent damage to gear box on implement, or pto of tractor. 2) some of the tapered bolts that secure the slip clutch to the implement have a flat on them. in many cases, this flat side matches a flat side in the implement. therefore, it may help to rotate the tapered pin by hand, untill it freely drops in an extra 1/2" or so. meaning the flat is aligned, and then the nut is more secure when you tighten the taper pin in place. Great videos man, and you keep it up! good job

      Sparkeee1978 Thanks for the advice! The PTO had to be shortened for it to fit, and honestly could maybe be shortened a little more. But it works great for what I have in it!

    Thanks a bunch. I have a sheer pin hook up on the rotary mower. It's my first tractor, ever, 1958 ford powermaster 851, and my first rotary mower, a very used kodiak. The shields are long gone off the shaft, and it's completely seized. Bought it at an equipment auction, because if I'm going to make mistakes, I'd rather make them on something I paid a few hundred for, rather than something I paid $1000+ for. Buying our first pto shaft, with zero clues about anything, and you just cleared up a bunch of stuff. I really appreciate helpful videos like yours. Good job. (Oh, and P.S. I love ebay, too, but I also discovered Georgia equipment, and their slip clutches are very reasonable. They have the neatest stuff for tractors and implements. ;) They also sell on ebay.)

    You need to build a Cover for it. Also it would be a good idea to burn in the Discs. Just loosen the Clamping Springs enough to where it spins then tighten back down. You can use a little paint can stirrer or measure the length of the Springs compressed before you loosen them. Then tighten them back down where they are compressed to the same length.

    My Woods rototiller has a plastic shroud covering the slip clutch. Makes it real hard to access. They have a small hole but it is real difficult to get to the bolts behind the slip clutch.

    You did a really fine job on this video. It's informative, and you communicate very clearly. You look very young, so I was particularly impressed. Keep making videos.

    Great video! I have an old clutch system that needs new friction discs but for $80 I might just go for the new one since dealing with what I have now is proving to be a headache.

    Do not forget to adjust the spring length to the HP rating of the lowest denominator (tractor PTO rating or implement rating) or you are just wasting your time and will not protect your equipment.

    If you were to put that slip clutch on the tractor side what holds it in place from falling off?

      They have two bolts on the back that you tighten down pretty tight in opposite directions,

    Make sure you adjust the spring tension before you use it.

    Trying to figure out how to reset a slip clutch, I have one, I’m new to this, hit root too big to move, and the shaft spins up until the clutch area, can’t figure out how to reset it. I don’t just wanna start tighten bolts, any suggestions?

    • @TractorGuru
      @TractorGuru  2 роки тому

      Check and see if your friction discs are still there. If they are there you can adjust the bolts down tighter. However I would guess that your friction discs need replaced though.

    If you install a slip clutch what do you put in the shear bolt hole? Can you put a grade 8 bolt there afterwards?

    • @TractorGuru
      @TractorGuru  4 роки тому

      wildman131 Yes you would put a grade 5 or 8 bolt in place of your shear bolt. That way it slips the clutch before it breaks the bolt. Just make sure your clutch is adjusted properly

      @@TractorGuru thanks. I have an Allis Chalmers D17 series 4 and a international IM500 brush cutter pull type for keeping the fire hazard down near a cabin and pole shed. Is it really that easy to install?

    • @TractorGuru
      @TractorGuru  4 роки тому

      wildman131 Yes these are really easy to install and cheaper then a whole driveline. Keep in mind this will cause some extra driveline vibration and you could possibly have to cut your PTO shaft down.
