I commonly leave epic essays every time I comment about this game or try to explain to others why they should play. This time, I will simply say this is my favorite game of all time, as well as the scariest game I have ever played, the most enjoyable sci-fi story in a game that I have ever experienced, and the game with the single most satisfying exploration ever that wasn't made by From Software. A generational masterpiece of a game, along with Outer Wilds, being a close second!
Wanted to come back to this video years later and comment. I bought the game on sale in alpha mainly based on this video and played a few hours but have a strong aversion to playing alpha games so shelved it until I saw that it hit 1.0 this year. Now that I have played this game to completion in a hypnotic, terrified trance, I can say the game is everything you guys say in this video and more. A true masterpiece evoking fear, awe, and wonder at every turn. Thank you both for the work you guys do.

Who's like me and never uses pipes
Sooo many hours in and have never touched pipes lol. Seamoth kind of eliminates the need for them imo.
I don't think anyone ever uses pipes in this game.
I have played over a hundred games. Those include titles such as tlou, rdr2, days gone, spiderman and etc aaa titles. I have to give the crown to Subnautica.
your subnautica intro makes me smile, before you (have to) jump into the water :D very entertaining to watch!
This game reminds me of Farsky (which is a very good thing) only this is being worked on constantly! What a fine game
You guys need to keep making reviews like this! Its some of the better I've seen. Covering every aspect of a game, comparing it to other games etc. This was very enjoyable, and I know I'll be playing Subnautica in a short while! Thanks.

yeah so how about you possibly come back to the game, see what the story mode has, and review it from that? Because I want that? A LOT?

Since this game is currently FREE on Epic Game store (until 27th Dec 2018) i gave it a go. Because FREE.
I find it terrifying. After a while I thought if i put it in creative mode i can get used to the system, controls and local enviroment. And maybe that's make me feel more comfortable playing the next difficulty up 'Freedom mode'. NOPE. Apparently even without being able to die i still find the sea, and not being able to see in the sea, and the sea at night. It's all a great unknown and It's all just terrifying ARGH! (i suppose what i really mean is massively stressful for no logical reason). Which is annoying because i was all for underwater gardening. I want that. Also the sound is great! I hate it!
Although being terrified is normally a massive and instant NO from me. The fact i found myself going back to it three times the same day must mean something.
The discovery and exploration is fun! I want to see whats over there! But i also very much want it to stay over there, keep it away from me...
Last thing is i tried played it with a controller and it was a bit jank (although i didn't mess with the settings).
I'd suggest starting with mouse and keyboard.
Tame has Great reviews....looks awesome.... I have been interested in it for a while, but for aome reason it just isn't "grabbing" me and getting me excited about the prospect of playing it. I feel more excited about getting 'The Forest' than this game, even though Subnautica has even better reviews. I cannot put my finger on it.... I *want* to be excited about it.... I want to Want to play it..... I don't know

whilst playing this game, i met and fell madly in love with an absolute hottie with a sea slug body.

Nobody talks about it but this is an Xbox console exclusive, at least for now.
I love this game. And that's why I am very very worried about the game.
See the game is amazing, and wonderful to play, and it keeps you wanting to play, but once you complete the story you will start to loss that connection to the game because of what there is to do in the game. Now I hope they keep adding things to the game to keep it going. If they do I will keep playing, but if they have no plans to keep adding to the game then sadly I am going to want to play something else.
Even though I really don't want to. I want to keep playing this game, but for the amount of items they have in the game the list is very small. Even though it may look like a lot, but its really not. My fingers are crossed that they are thinking ahead, and they have plans for subnautica 2 in the works, or plans to add more to this game as far as story or things to do because I see so much more with this game, but I don't know if the developers can see how much more you can do with this game.

they stopped adding stuff to subnautica. that's why they started Subnatica sub zero about a year ago (early access is out). they did just redid the whole story a couple days ago, so it'll be delayed for a while.
