subnautica is one of the only games I've played where you have no idea how long you're playing. It's so easy to get immersed and end up playing much longer than you planned
Just started playing it and literally played straight for like 7 hours yesterday and all I was doing was setting up my new base. I get lost in this shit
Yesterday, playing Below Zero, I had an interesting experience of immersion. I was in the moonpool of my base unloading the prawn, and the lights went out, and I had the immediate knowledge "oh the power went out" and looked around my living room to realize, "right, my computer is on, that's in the game"
you mean like when I first got the game around 9 PM in the evening and said to myself that I'll check it out for 30-40 minutes and then go to sleep, but 11.30 came and I said I'd play for 1 more hour and then go to sleep, and then 4 AM came and I looked at the clock and went like "fuck!" into my chin and kept playing, sleep deprived, for 2 more hours until I looked at the clock again and saw that it was 6-ish AM and said to myself "ok, I finish building the moonpool and stock up on cured peepers and then go to sleep" and then 8,30 AM came and I had to call in sick from work so I could finally get some sleep (which I finally did), but then woke up 4-5 hours later and resumed playing until late in the evening, totally ignoring showering, taking out the trash, or any domestic duties at all until I finally beat the game 2 days later? Is this the type of "no idea how long you're playing" playing that you are talking about? :)
Considering how diverse the biomes in the game are, it's truly amazing that the game's size is under 20 GB. Compare that to Ark: Survival Evolved, it's such a relief.
One thing he didn't include is that the voice acting in subnautica is so good and very realistic. You get radio messages and voice recordings from other survivors.
One of the things that I love about Subnatica and Subnatica: Below Zero is that you can never really fight the monsters. You can technically kill the leviathans, but it’s hard and takes a long time. All you have is various methods of escape.
The developers openly admit that this game was intended from the start to not be about shooting and killing everything with guns, hence, their decision to never add any particularly efficient weaponry to the game. I've heard complaints that the combat is unsatisfying, but it fits the whole game for combat to be so unsatisfying that you don't seek it out.
Yeah, but BZ ruins it by forcing you to get in close quarters with them, where you can't avoid being attacked...thus forcing you to realize how harmless and basically just a minor nuisance they actually are. In SN, they're usually just off howling in the distance, making you think, f***, I better stay away.

My first interaction with a reaper damn near gave me a heart attack. I was near the aurora and popped out of my seamoth to do some mining. I hear a blood curdling roar and turn around to see the big evil bastard eating my submarine. I noped out of there and haven't come back.
@@seancutler6712 I played so many playthroughs of this game and haven't lost a SINGLE vehicle and I have like 600 hours of gameplay and I play very recklessly sometimes, you just need to be smart and know that nothing in the game can 1 shot a vehicle.

Its weird because not everyone feels the creepiness, my 26 yr old son gave it a go after i raved about how creepy and immersive it was and he was "meh". The noises, the gloomy deapths, the reaper and other creatures, nothing fazed him, he gave up, said it was boring. Meanwhile i'm shitting my pants everytime i go down the blood kelp trench or the dunes. :-)
@@uhtred7860 perhaps it was because he knew there would be creepy stuff. The whole reason people get scared by this game is they don’t know whether or not there are creepy creatures out there. It’s that uncertainty that is why you don’t go into that murky water, or that deep hole. This is, at least, my opinion, as the people I’ve seen most scared of it are the people that also know the least about it.
I tried going near the wreck right away, first thing that happened was I got swallowed by the reaper leviathan. Now I’m scared whenever I explore anything in this game😂
Thought you would have gotten a radiation warning first, although depending on your lifepod spawn location and your entry angle, maybe you get too close to the Reaper.
@@takatamiyagawa5688 Don't think the lifepod spawn location is random, as far as I know, it's always set in the same location EDIT: nvm, looked it up now and it seems as it can spawn in a few random locations.
@@HolyCrusader5 it's exactly the opposite. The life pod spawn is randomized for each playthrough. I have multiple save files and each life pod is in a different location. Alternatively, the ship wrecks are all in the same places.
Another one thing I like in this game is scanning. PDA gives you tons of information and it's always interesting for me to read it, immersing into the lore more and more
And why I hate it soo much I am supposed to like it!!I'm 45 years old a gamer for most of my life but I cant find the word " fun" in this game, and I know for a fact that video games are supposed to be fun,if the game is " boring," and want to do other things that dont have anything to do with fun, well I guess I'm right in not liking it,but is this game fun??? Because for what little I play I cant find the fun😒😒🙄 imo
Subnautica will always be in my top best games. I will never forget building a base in a cyclops, finsihing the game, saying goodbye to my cuddlefish...
I can't stress enough how good and how vital the audio is in this game. Not only the incredible music but the the roar of each creature and every sound in general is near perfection. I think it's one of the most key parts of the game that make it so good and so immersive
I never had the heart to kill the reapers. For one it takes a boatload of time, plus the game isn't that challenging if you don't have a big ol leviathan hunting you in some areas. Although 24 reapers in a 2 square kilometer zone is a lot.
I used to do this if I expect to drive the Cyclops through the same region over-and-over. But on later playthroughs, I don't even bother. I learned it's just easier to leave the Cyclops parked "downstairs" if you bother to drive it at all. Well that and the Seamoth is actually more than enough to beat the entire game.
I remember finding it when Jack did his first video. I watched every update video from IGP and lore/theory videos during the early stages of development. After following the game for so many years I have yet to play it.
I am just like you. Played through Below Zero and will definitely be playing the original. Watching jack play it years ago was amazing and IGP gave so much info and lore
Ive been playing the game since 2015 and its still such a stunning, beautiful and amazing game which i cant get enough of. A very true masterpiece. Every time i see it again after not playing it for a while i lose my breath at what an amazing job unknown worlds have actually done. Definetely my all time favourite
I will never forget swimming beyond the crater edge and hearing this long nazgul-like screech... I actually couldn't force myself doing this again ever since. What a terrifying game, love it so much.
To anyone who’s looking to buy this game, I have played Subnautica and beaten the game 7 times. This game is hands down one of the greatest video games ever created and I would do anything to go back to my first play through. This game is scary, intriguing, fun, and has great graphics. There really isn’t a bad side to this game.
This is one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve never felt such raw emotion from playing a game before this one - from the hesitation and anxiety to just jumping into the water at the beginning to the immense sense of accomplishment that came with beating the game to everything in between - nothing comes close to this level of immersion in a game. This deserves to be considered as one of the all time greats IMO.
honestly awesome is an understatement. even after finishing the game, i still listen to the music and think of the blood kelp and lost river zones because of how fun and scary it was. i literally get shivers anytime i listen to the music. favorite game ever.
The stalkers and crashfish always give me goosebumps, everytime, without fail, I'm not afraid but the sound they make triggers a natural primitive response
I normally play with the music at 0% to get a more realistic feel, and tbh, it makes it even more terrifying. The roars become clearer, and you feel like you're alone, but at the same time you know you're not, and when you finally encounter something, it's just absolutely terrifying.
I could give anything to wipe Subnautica from my brain and experience it once again. I have played hundreds of games and this is the only game i felt something like this. Also, things he missed: The voice acting, the music and the details in PDA after scanning things and creatures is just Out of this world. A true masterpiece this is
I have BAD Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) and that’s what makes this game so damn crazy for me. I have been playing it for 15 hours so far and have only gone about 250m deep because I’m too scared to go further. It’s the first survival game where you feel *very* low on the food chain!
I don’t even have thalassophobia as far as I know but the pure open ocean can be absolutely terrifying. Just today I was playing on a newer world, exploring in my sea moth. I was in the Dunes and I saw some blood kelp in the distance. I move in that general direction and there’s a massive drop off underneath me. I’m following it down thinking “jeez the blood kelp zone is awful deep here” when I get the PDA message “Warning. Entering ecological deadzone. Adding report to databank.” I cannot describe the visceral panic and anxiety that jumped out at me the second I heard that. Subnautica is TERRIFYING. Anywhere in the open ocean, whether it be the dunes, mountains, floating islands or even just the crag fields or grand reef can be seriously nerve-wracking. I’ve beat the game at least thrice already and it still scares the living daylight out of me. Anyway, rant over. It’s been three years, did you ever beat the game?
@@LilCheesyBean the quality of below zero is very subjective. Some people herald it as better tha the original, others said it was just fun and if anything just a little weaker then you have the vocal minority who try to step its name into the ground

@@LilCheesyBean The way to play Subnautica is with a VR headset, only then can you get a good idea of the scale and size of the creatures, on a screen they never seem as big as they are supposed to be.
In my opinion below zero does most of what subnautica did but a bit better, with the exception of being scary, below zero is never as terrifying and the main game.
I've cleared the game twice on pc (once on hardcore) and recently I finished it again on PS4. One of my absolute favorite games. It's relaxing in the shallows, with a pleasant mellow tune, gathering and having fun building things. It's terrifying in the deep. 9,5/10 Can't wait for Subzero to come out! :)
One of the best gaming experiences I had, going through the lost river in the cyclops with with all the upgrades and enough food, water and materials to be safe and free to explore everything, oh man I still remember the feeling, it was like bringing home to those scary places and just feel safe.
Just saw a new expansion for this game announced, came to check out what the game is all about. Very tempted to pick it up, I love underwater exploration in any game. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.
Am I glad this was a free game what a score! At first I didn't like it, I was confused and didn't know what to do but after playing for a while unlocking and crafting tools it became fantastic and very addicting.
yesterday, i encountered my first reaper leviathan as the day before yesterday i started a brand new save because i haven't really sat down to play the game. i had made it up to the second sunbeam message, and i wanted to go a bit closer the aurora to find a seamoth fragment. so, i went at the edge of the biome the aurora crash-landed in, and a creepvine forest-y area. i was grabbing something on the sea floor, when i heard a roar. i look up and i see the silhouette of a reaper leviathan barreling towards me. i definitely relate to how you describe an encounter with one of those things lol
The game was so scary for me that when I started it up for the first time, I couldn‘t jump in the water. I was too scared. I started it up again recently and managed to swim around a bit, but still felt scared by the open ocean (even in the starting area). maybe I have a phobia, but I‘ve swam in the open ocean before but subnautica is something else. Hearing how much content there is I should try playing it more, I‘ll try facing my fears
I didn't actually find it that scary. But I love the creepy vibe, the looming sense of dread... It perfectly captures the feeling of being completely alone on a hostile world, and running out of time. The scariest moments are when I'm exploring a cave and forget which direction my vehicle is in, and I'm scrambling desperately trying to find it before running out of time. So it captures the danger of cave diving well. Good point about how they don't reward you for killing things. (Except edible fish.) I killed the reaper outside the Aurora for the first time, and was shocked that I didn't even get an achievement, not even a sarcastic one. And then I felt bad for killing that noble beast. :D
This. Game isn't that scary when you realize how much you can get away with if you play smart and plan well. The only few times I died was because I drowned, I was stuck in a wreck, my flashlight died and didn't have spare batteries. I'd play this game in VR in a heartbeat
@@finesseandstyle It's great in VR... Even though it's what I'd call a VR port as distinct from a proper VR game... There's a mod that fixes some problems, but... You basically have to play it with a keyboard and mouse. Or controller, which is slightly clunkier, but not bad. With Virtual Desktop, you can make your Oculus controllers emulate a gamepad, so then it's just like a gamepad that's broken in half. Which I've come to prefer, even though it's less than perfect. So there's no physical interactivity, is what I'm saying. You can't just grab stuff with your hands like in Alyx. The controls are like a normal game except your head is the mouse. Which makes the tablet/inventory etc a bit of a pain. But actually being in the reef or the cockpit of a submarine is about as cool as you might imagine. You have to have your VR legs though, or it will make you super-sick. All the zooming around and bobbing up and down... I couldn't take for ten minutes at first, but after a few weeks of other VR stuff, it doesn't bother me anymore. But if you're interested, I'd definitely recommend a Quest 2. If you want to stick it to Zuckerberg and have money to burn, by all means, get a Vive, but if 1K is a bit much to try it out... For $300... VR has barely begun to scratch the surface of its potential, but it's here, now, available to the mass market for the price of a standard gaming console, and it's pretty damn cool. Way more immersive than a flat box in front of your face, and way better for your health than sitting hunched over in a chair for hours and end. And you can play Steam VR games with it... With Virtual Desktop you don't even a cord, as long as you have decent router.
I just started this game last night for the first time and WOW I am so impressed and so blown away I played for 1hr and jumped a few times I cant imagine what im in for runs real smooth on the series x LOVING it
This video literally put how much I love survival games into words, which me myself I could not do. It’s a very satisfying genre. Subnautica, Minecraft, Far Cry Primal, and many other games are simply as perfect as a game can get in my opinion.
Nice review. I got this game for my son when Epic had it free for a weekend. He kept asking how to do things so I put it on my own PC so I could figure it out for him. That was the start of so many hours of Subnautica gameplay. There is also now a multiplayer mod that is getting better and better. I have now bought Below Zero and that has not disappointed either.
I think the BIGGEST way it stands out is the WORLD. Unlike most other Survival games where to explore a Zombie -Ravaged Earth, in Subnautica and Below Zero (its sequel) you explore the underwater depths of an Alien Planet!
the game is so immersive, one of the main reasons I love it. the biomes seem realistic, creatures seem biologically plausible, and the oceans are a parallel of our own. also, the amazing hidden story is really nice
@@luobomu9747 Below Zero wasn't that bad, The only things I found wrong with Below Zero was the land parts and the volume between medium predators and leviathans.
The fear of the unknown murky water below and ahead of you coupled with a constant unease makes this game work for me. Most of the zones do not contain any harm or danger but you think they do. Not only do you think that but you sort of feel. Might be one of the most immersive games ever created. Imagine more money and a bigger team for greater polishing.
I think one thing that really makes me like Subnautica and Below Zero is the fantastical nature of the creatures and biomes. With games such as The Long Dark, I'm pretty confident I know what I'm going to find; bears, wolves and deer. With Subnautica I could find a giant tripod critter or an undersea monkey that steals stuff. The aesthetic is also great with tons of color to the creatures. Good video.
My single greatest life accomplishment was a full circumnavigation of the entire subnautica map, including going through all the reaper locations around the edges, without returning to or using a base. I had to use the thermal reactor upgrade for the prawn suit to charge the power cells for the cyclops. The sonar was key to getting by the reapers, with careful observation.
I don't even know why I got the game. I had never played any water based games before. Boy am I glad I got it. It turned into a game that will always have a place in my heart. It's the kind of game that when it's over, you feel depressed that it's over
Subnautica is such a good game, I love how it starts in the safest area but forces you to go deeper and deeper into more dangerous areas, but still telling you where not to go, with the ghost leviathans of the void, or at first where the Aurora is leaking radiation, needing you to explore to make the radiation suit. I don't like to self promote, but I have been working on a pretty decent project for about a year (just building a massive tower), which is something else I love about the game, you dont just have to go deeper. Sometimes theres something fun in the mundane. I have been recording my tower, currently at 6km and posting them onto my channel. There is so much to explore, if you want to explore it all you need to build, upgrade, and be very cautious. 10/10 game in my opinion.
I actually got wet eyed saying goodbye to my pet cuddlefish and releasing him before getting into the rocket to finish. I didn't want it to end-because I knew that first time experience couldn't ever be replicated again. The option of launching an aid packet with a message for other players was a nice finishing touch. One of the best games I've ever played. The game encourages you to explore and lets you take your time doing it to totally immerse yourself.
Subnautica is so good that me, who absolutely hates survival games, loved it enough to not only play it, but fully complete it to see the ending and get all the PS trophies. If that isnt enough to call a game a masterpiece I dont know what is.
Subnautica is one of those games you'll never see again, it's something special and unique as a "quick project" despite its flaws like bugs when building its still fun af
i agree, i personally have the played the game since release for over 500 hours and i have managed to scan everything. whenever i am at shortage of games to play, subnautica always manages to be enjoyable, reguardless of the stage of the game your are at
I just finished this game the other day and I'm just binging video reviews now since it was so damn good. My first reaper encounter was me noticing a chest on the ocean floor near the Aurora, and hearing something behind me while opening it. I turned around just in time to see it inches from my face as it let out an otherworldly roar and proceeded to charge into me for 80% of my health. Somehow I managed to escape by hugging the wall and swimming down and away into the kelp reefs, but that was 100% the most terrifying game experience I have ever had. If I had been using VR I would have brown pants.
I'm playing it right now. Exploring and being upset by four days of radio silence. This game is so humbling without anything to guide you and that makes it so awesome. It's you and you alone. Btw. I love the sound effects when you find something like a blueprint, reminds me of Prey (one more that I LOVE). Oh and one of the crew members names is Yu. A little homage to Prey maybe?
I've been playing video games since the 80's (so I've played a LOT of games) and subnautica is by far my favourite of all time. (I've played it through about half a dozen times) even when you know the story and what you are supposed to be doing it is just so enjoyable to play it is a masterpiece. tbh I didn't find it all that scary (but video games in general don't scare me at all, I never forget I'm just playing a game, sure I still get jump scared but the terror of the deep just wasn't there for me, I was more intrigued than scared) for me the scariest thing in subnautica is "oxygen" running out of oxygen is scarier than any monster in the game because that's something I can actually relate to the real world. drowning would suck for some reason tho I'm not really feeling below zero. there's just something about it that makes it less intriguing than the 1st game. (too much time spent on land I think) and the story is a bit meh.
@@InnerRise no idea, i;ve never played it on the switch , read some reviews of how well it runs, as far as I can see it gets pretty good reviews so it must be a decent enough port. the story will be identical on any platform , the story and game is amazing regardless of where you play it. Subnatica is a huge refresher in terms of survival games, it takes place in a environment most survival games make tedious and annoying, water. Plus, the game limits you in the right ways, no weapons: which make creatures more scary and dangerous without having to give them magic or some other powers. No map: makes you have to use land marks and beacons instead of just pressing a button and getting a map of the entire game.
I remember starting the game, and as someone who is afraid of what lies beneath, I was skeptical. I had no idea what to do and swam out to the destroyed ship encountering the Reaper Leviathan for the first time. I screamed and turned the game off. A couple months later back at college my roommates huddled around my computer on a snow day and we began my first real quest in Subnautica. Figuring out what to to do and where to go, and I kid you not we spent 5-6 hours straight just playing and exploring the world. I am so glad that I revisited the game because it wound up being one of my all time favorite games (I usually play competitive action games like league, WoW, RL, and fighting games so it was def out of my realm of gaming). Just finished the second game as well and hot damn they are both phenomenal games with great stories and amazing gameplay. If you're thinking about getting it just DO IT. If you're scared cause of the giant creatures... good you should be. But damn enjoy every second playing this game. I also recommend not using the wiki or any guides at first and just jumping straight into the game as I feel that's the best way to get immersed fully into the game.
I bought this game 2 years ago played it for 7 hours and then never played again but then my favorite UA-cam played it and I immediately fell in love with it I created a new world and I fell in love with the story and with exploring the lost River more people should really check out this game
I finished this game two times and i had the platinum trophy for both of these tryes and just love this game you never get bored amd you can play this game multiple times unlike other games and you will have fun every single time its absolutly worth the 20 bugs for sure
I try to describe to people how weirdly terrifying this game is, but it doesn't translate until you're actually playing it. Seeing clips doesn't do the tension this game causes any justice.

I love sunautica, I think the way they make you feel like you are there is better then any other game I have played yet. I have a phobia of the deep dark ocean and playing this game was terrifying, I loved feeling snug and safe in my sub when I was deep in the dark parts, I can go on and on about how immersive this game is for me. When I heard they were making a second game I was excited. I hoped they would build a deeper ocean and expand on the environment and make something even more adventurous but instead we had what seemed like a reduced environment as far as space goes and instead there was more enthasis on land, less water which is not what the game is about so I was very disappointed in the second game, although I still enjoyed playing it, just nowhere near as much as the first.
Trying to find the final alien base was a issue until I found it on my own, but my first attempt resulted in an encounter with five ghost that rapidly drained my Cyclops batteries and my sub was turned around so much that I couldn't tell up from down. Also, if you weren't aware, but oddly enough you can create a surface base and connect to islands getting a unique hatch door.

My first interaction with a reaper damn near gave me a heart attack. I was near the aurora and popped out of my seamoth to do some mining. I hear a blood curdling roar and turn around to see the big evil bastard eating my submarine. I noped out of there and haven't come back.
If you do your first playthrough and DONT manage to lose at least one seamoth/cyclops you might be playing a bit passive XD
@@seancutler6712 fr I lost like three seamoths already
@@seancutler6712 I played so many playthroughs of this game and haven't lost a SINGLE vehicle and I have like 600 hours of gameplay and I play very recklessly sometimes, you just need to be smart and know that nothing in the game can 1 shot a vehicle.

It’s almost scary how immersive this game is to me
Its weird because not everyone feels the creepiness, my 26 yr old son gave it a go after i raved about how creepy and immersive it was and he was "meh".
Thought you would have gotten a radiation warning first, although depending on your lifepod spawn location and your entry angle, maybe you get too close to the Reaper.

Thanks for teaching me a new world
Subnautica may not be my all time favorite game ever but its certainly the coolest.
Well said
And why I hate it soo much I am supposed to like it!!I'm 45 years old a gamer for most of my life but I cant find the word " fun" in this game, and I know for a fact that video games are supposed to be fun,if the game is " boring," and want to do other things that dont have anything to do with fun, well I guess I'm right in not liking it,but is this game fun??? Because for what little I play I cant find the fun😒😒🙄 imo
@@nemesisencounter2060 Not every game is for everyone, you're 45 and haven't learned that fun is subjective?
Subnautica will always be in my top best games. I will never forget building a base in a cyclops, finsihing the game, saying goodbye to my cuddlefish...
I can't stress enough how good and how vital the audio is in this game. Not only the incredible music but the the roar of each creature and every sound in general is near perfection. I think it's one of the most key parts of the game that make it so good and so immersive
whenever i get the stasis rifle and the upgraded knife doom music just plays in my head while im swimming to "talk" to reaper
I never had the heart to kill the reapers. For one it takes a boatload of time, plus the game isn't that challenging if you don't have a big ol leviathan hunting you in some areas. Although 24 reapers in a 2 square kilometer zone is a lot.
I once killed a stalker but then I felt really bad.
@Very Polite Duck PL the stasis rifle is from fragments in various wrecks and the heated blade is in the modification station
@@afqwa423 What do you mean with "downstairs"?

Its not underrated tho. It had massive popularity and publicity and it still has 3 years after release.

I remember finding it when Jack did his first video. I watched every update video from IGP and lore/theory videos during the early stages of development. After following the game for so many years I have yet to play it.
You should play it. Watching and playing are two completely different experiences
You have no reason not to. Play the game!
Free on Ps4 right now. No PS+ needed
I love IGP subnautica videos
I am just like you. Played through Below Zero and will definitely be playing the original. Watching jack play it years ago was amazing and IGP gave so much info and lore
Ive been playing the game since 2015 and its still such a stunning, beautiful and amazing game which i cant get enough of. A very true masterpiece. Every time i see it again after not playing it for a while i lose my breath at what an amazing job unknown worlds have actually done. Definetely my all time favourite
Its free on PlayStation now and I’ve been wanting to play this.
I will never forget swimming beyond the crater edge and hearing this long nazgul-like screech...
I actually couldn't force myself doing this again ever since. What a terrifying game, love it so much.
@Very Polite Duck PL
Yes, I do. I did see the ghost leviathan there and that was both cool and terrifying.
One of the games i truly wish I could forget and play again fresh.
To anyone who’s looking to buy this game, I have played Subnautica and beaten the game 7 times. This game is hands down one of the greatest video games ever created and I would do anything to go back to my first play through. This game is scary, intriguing, fun, and has great graphics. There really isn’t a bad side to this game.
me watching a Subnautica review even though I’ve already finished it 3 times
3 times? Rookie numbers. Ive probably played it 10 times by now
Relatable asf
A true masterpiece this is
For me, this is the best game of the last decade.
If I was ever to recommend a game to someone, anyone, it is Subnautica.
‘New player appears! What do you say?’
“this game is scary” or “go behind the aurora
The devs went ‘let’s take that obligatory underwater level that everyone hates and make that the WHOLE GAME’ and somehow it worked
Just goes to prove that everyone loves water levels but just won't admit it
This game is Legendary ill never forget how epic it was playing it for the first time.
I have BAD Thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) and that’s what makes this game so damn crazy for me. I have been playing it for 15 hours so far and have only gone about 250m deep because I’m too scared to go further. It’s the first survival game where you feel *very* low on the food chain!
LMFAO SAME
Hate anything with under water exploration
I don’t even have thalassophobia as far as I know but the pure open ocean can be absolutely terrifying. Just today I was playing on a newer world, exploring in my sea moth. I was in the Dunes and I saw some blood kelp in the distance. I move in that general direction and there’s a massive drop off underneath me. I’m following it down thinking “jeez the blood kelp zone is awful deep here” when I get the PDA message “Warning. Entering ecological deadzone. Adding report to databank.”
I cannot describe the visceral panic and anxiety that jumped out at me the second I heard that.
You litterally rated more than half of Menos Trece's historical repertoire. Respect ya. One of the classics for me
4:45 The Seaglide is based off sea scooters.
Now I'm sad I can't erase my memory and play this again. Hopefully I will get a comparable experience in Subnautica below zero when I buy it
I’ve heard below zero isn’t as good but I still can’t wait for the full release on Xbox

I've cleared the game twice on pc (once on hardcore) and recently I finished it again on PS4. One of my absolute favorite games.

Its so tempting to watch a lets play but I don't want to spoil it for myself
The game was so scary for me that when I started it up for the first time, I couldn‘t jump in the water. I was too scared. I started it up again recently and managed to swim around a bit, but still felt scared by the open ocean (even in the starting area). maybe I have a phobia, but I‘ve swam in the open ocean before but subnautica is something else.
Hearing how much content there is I should try playing it more, I‘ll try facing my fears
Watch the first 2 episodes of someone's let's play, that might help. Don't watch too many though because it spoils the story and experience
This game was a blast in VR. So awesome!
This is one of the only games that I have replayed multiple times and got very addicted every time
And one of the best things about this game is that to get recources, you dont have to grind, you have to explore
Subnautica is such an amazing game. It is a blend that comes together perfectly.

Your videos are very good and informative. I like the essay type videos, keep up the great work!
The sound design in Subnauitca is the best ever done.
Just started playing this last week. Love it so far!
I loved Subnautica so much even though the end game became incredibly glitchy. I almost enjoyed it as much as Outer Wilds
Yeah same
I actually got wet eyed saying goodbye to my pet cuddlefish and releasing him before getting into the rocket to finish. I didn't want it to end-because I knew that first time experience couldn't ever be replicated again. The option of launching an aid packet with a message for other players was a nice finishing touch. One of the best games I've ever played. The game encourages you to explore and lets you take your time doing it to totally immerse yourself.
Maybe you get a similar experience with subnautica below zero.

Subnautica is one of those games you'll never see again, it's something special and unique as a "quick project" despite its flaws like bugs when building its still fun af
Most bugs are fixed by now, especially on console
That feeling of carefully threading my Cyclops down to the lost river...unforgettable.

i agree, i personally have the played the game since release for over 500 hours and i have managed to scan everything. whenever i am at shortage of games to play, subnautica always manages to be enjoyable, reguardless of the stage of the game your are at
I just finished this game the other day and I'm just binging video reviews now since it was so damn good.
Dude terrified me at 4:19 when he swam right up to the Mesmer, just staring at it
Design and playable wise Subnautica is brilliant.
I think the sound design really completes the experience, beautiful visuals only play a part in the game's captivating atmosphere
easily in my top 5 favorite games of all time
I'm playing it right now.
(I've played it through about half a dozen times) even when you know the story and what you are supposed to be doing it is just so enjoyable to play
it is a masterpiece.
tbh I didn't find it all that scary (but video games in general don't scare me at all, I never forget I'm just playing a game, sure I still get jump scared but the terror of the deep just wasn't there for me, I was more intrigued than scared)
for me the scariest thing in subnautica is "oxygen" running out of oxygen is scarier than any monster in the game because that's something I can actually relate to the real world.
drowning would suck
for some reason tho I'm not really feeling below zero. there's just something about it that makes it less intriguing than the 1st game. (too much time spent on land I think) and the story is a bit meh.

Subnatica is a huge refresher in terms of survival games, it takes place in a environment most survival games make tedious and annoying, water. Plus, the game limits you in the right ways, no weapons: which make creatures more scary and dangerous without having to give them magic or some other powers.
No map: makes you have to use land marks and beacons instead of just pressing a button and getting a map of the entire game.
woah, i stop watching robokast from the unturned berry series and he got big, mad respect man
I remember starting the game, and as someone who is afraid of what lies beneath, I was skeptical.

3:03 the endless ocean games are phenomenal too
hands down one of the best survival games out there ngl this was the first game where finishing the "last" quest actually made me tear up and I know many people have said this but I do wish I could experience subnautica for the first time again i also played the below zero but the first one has an special place on my heart.
I’m so so grateful for that one day I was bored and decided to look up games like stranded deep if I never played stranded deep I would never have gotten it it’s so amazing I’m so happy I decided that subnautica might be fun
Not to forget that the colors in the game are so good which gives the game a much better atmosphere
Amazing game. Its my all time favorite, no other game comes close. It's like I became a kid again when playing through it
Trying to find the final alien base was a issue until I found it on my own, but my first attempt resulted in an encounter with five ghost that rapidly drained my Cyclops batteries and my sub was turned around so much that I couldn't tell up from down.
Also, if you weren't aware, but oddly enough you can create a surface base and connect to islands getting a unique hatch door.
It’s becoming free on PlayStation 4 and 5 from March 25 on play at home
Nailed it... the escape and evade part of the game with creatures is completely unique
