2007 bmw 525i HOW TO FIX slapping/tapping sound when driving at speed sounds like a belt is breaking

how to fix the tapping sound rattle sound under hood! its not a cam shaft or pulley or belt, its the windshield molding!
this car was on the interstate and it sounded like a belt under the hood started breaking all of a sudden. upon arriving home I removed the mud guards or protective plastic from underneath the car thinking it was loose and that disint fix it.
check the molding of your windshield!! beige spending hours trying to diagnose a mechanical issue that isnt there.
I swear the noise was coming from under the hood after 30+mph but it wasnt!
the weather stripping or molding of your windshield is dry rotted or cracked and is loose and flaps in the wind.
check ABOVE your windscreen.
rip off the old flakey bits or add nail glue like I did to secure it or get it replaced properly. mine does not leak water and immediately the noise was gone after removing old buts and gluing the rest down.
