- This week, we're in Dublin, Ireland, where we are exploring what are people wearing across ireland. I roadtripped with my friend Eireann starting in Dublin, onto Wicklow, then Galway, then Mullingar for the Fleadh Cheoil and back again to dublin to explore irish culture and fashion, drink some guinness, touch some fluffy grass, and figure out why someone may shout across the road at you here if you dress a little funny. this is what we found.

How people are dressed in Dublin depends where you go and what age and social group you check. You have the teens wearing the shortest skirts and tops, then you have office workers who are mostly very elegant and conservative style oftenly wearing expensive pieces. Sporty outfits are also a big thing here

I was a teenager in Ireland in the 80's, there were lots of alternative ways of dressing, goth, punk, rock, vintage, second hand, wearing your Granddad's old tweed jackets, doc martens etc etc. So not sure why the kids nowadays think that dressing differently is only a recent thing😉

Brilliant video well done 👏. I am Irish and a fashion designer. It's good to see the young Irish are still being alternative. When I grew up in the 80s, temple bar was a sea of goths punks and heavy rockers. . Its an Artist and musicians hang out . I think the Irish have a style but it's our own . Textured clothes with trifed bits it's not so much street but a sense of poetry about it and that's mens and womens. Like the couple he had red hair and a beard and she had green jeans .Now great work but mind yourself don't be working to hard . Make your own deadlines . Slàn xx

Don't worry about feeling under the weather, you actually managed so well showing the variety of fashion in Ireland, ie the vintage/second hand stuff, alternative style, differing price ranges and the athleisure as everyday wear girlies. Well done!

That's just the touristy area of Ireland. Everywhere else all you see is people in Nike tech. Ireland is a miserable place.
For the girl who said she would have been yelled at for wearing her outfit in 2015... She's dressing exactly like everyone did in my art college in Dublin in 2010 so I seriously doubt that 😂

Actually this is one of the best videos you have made - and it just happens to be in my native Dublin 😉! I think people look great here but don’t take fashion too seriously as there are more important things like socialising to do- I thought it was cool that these young people were proud to say that they shopped in charity (thrift) stores, and everyone was having fun 👍! Clothes have not changed, you could always wear what you want. The weather is a big factor.
Young people think they are the first to do everything. I grew up in the 90s. Sub cultures were always big in Ireland. Punks, Goths, Rockers, Hipsters, Emos etc Irish people are also a nation of piss takers so if you stand out you will have someone make fun of you, but its never really with bad intent.
I’m not from ireland but i was thinking the same thing! Ireland has such a rich history and culture, i’d be shocked if there was never some sort of punk or alternative movement. Maybe we should hear from fewer fifteen year olds haha

I was in art college in Dublin the the 1980s, we all dressed how we liked then. It's nothing new! It's a pity I can't share pics of my class.

There is an old thing in more small town rural ireland that you don't want to stand out to much clothes wise because people will slag you.

I think the style gets more interesting and individually refined every day in Dublin. It's just as interesting as the style in New York or Paris but a bit more laid back. There are not many videos around on what people are wearing in Dublin. Charity shops were popular here starting at about 10 years ago in the older age groups and not popular for teens but now they are really popular, how the tables turn. A mix of second hand, Depop bought, charity shop bought with a little hint of in store or online. We have an abundance of vintage and charity shops and there is a huge live music scene in Dublin which also influences this. Concerts are more popular than ever before and live gigs. Clubbing isn't as popular anymore and the style body con dressing for example.
Dublin, cork has a unique, open and strong identity so i can see why vintage clothes have returned, it's the same stuff lads in the 80s were wearing but more modern.
It's the other counties that are still stuck in there ways and are closed off. The "fancy" stuff worn in Dublin would get laughed at in Waterford, kilkenny, meath etc, especially from boys who wear trackies a lot 😂

You can wear anything in Dublin, the city...but go out to the country and it is still not alternative, people will stare 🤣🤣. I like different, but the rest of Ireland is not about the city life. Not where I'm from anyway.

Ah i used to dress like this when i was younger in the early 00's. Anything different than a tracksuit or jeans resulted in insults from randoms. I'm glad things have improved. Be free with your fashion choices people!

I travel on a budget! I found a ticket to France for $99, from there everywhere In Europe is cheap, and I usually stay with friends to avoid hotel fees

As someone who lives and has grown up in Ireland and has traveled quite a bit, I think Ireland as a nation has a terrible sense of fashion. Of course there are outliers but when you look at large groups it’s not good
