I’m in Australia and I ended up getting a 2016 PFL RS3, fully optioned. The only thing not ticked was the radar cruise control. I really wanted a 2017 nardo grey black pack sedan, but I just could not justify the $20k plus difference in price. I’m still happy with the PFL 2016 RS3. The sound is great. Absolutely get the handling as I went from a BRZ to the RS3.
My PFL with Eventuri Intake, Sec Decat Bypass and a custom Stage 1 tuning is running 450bhp. The sound of the PFL is in my opinion better but the FL does have all the modern toys. Both models are superb.
i like the pre facelift more, it still has the simple but nice styling that vw and audi where good at. The face lifted a3 was audi's first step into the over styling they do these days

Last week, Milltek downpipe added with, possible increase of 30-40bhp, definitely feel the increase, on rollers next week to check map (new one?) & figures. Know the fl is more precise due to block lightness but, this thing sounds insane...especially with the recent upgrades, quick enough 😁

Totally agree with your comments too, especially coming from a Golf R myself. The Golf does drive better than the PFL but I wanted that Audi 5 pot sound and it doesn’t disappoint. I couldn’t afford a FL model at the time but at least I’ve got these vids to watch so keep up the good work 👍
Been waiting for an honest comparison like this for ages - I own a 65 plate PFL RS3 with dynamic package etc and have had it for a few years now.... totally agree with your comments on it, yes its a total sound machine vs FL and OPF but feels very wobbly on roads and a feeling of disconnect in a weird way when driving. In a straight line it feels great but thats it... my other half's mk7 Golf GTI PP feels more alive and fun to drive if Im honest... but that sound of the RS is something else. I would think about upgrading to a FL pre OPF... but barely drive anymore!
I have a pfl rs3 now for 2 years and I agree with everything you said. I have a few handling mods like lowering springs, lightweight rims, michelin ps4s square setup, upper and lower dog bone mount and the car still feels a bit disconnected to the road and quite wobly in a way. I have a race spec wheel alignment and the car drives straight and wherever you point it but it just doesnt feel super stable. I drove a stage 1 APR tuned facelift and it is a worlds difference. I'm looking to list my pfl for sale very soon to upgrade to a 2018 pre OPF facelift. Did you end up getting a facelift?
Great video! So happy with my OPF RS3 especially with stage 1 map to give the exhaust more character with pops and burbles. It’s a weapon on any road and find the handling very direct and precise, never driven a PFL but from your review I’m glad I avoided buying one, although they do sound insane!! Look forward to more content from you soon : )
Cracking review & summed it up perfectly, I’ve just sold my PFL Rs3 and the only thing I’m missing is the noise the rest was a bit of disappointment if I’m honest.
Great video. The new RS3 is amazing, as is the A45S. I wish it was in my price range. I only had 20 grand to play with, and went with a 2017 M140i auto, and remapped it to 411bhp/576nm, and I think it's the most fun, and possibly the fastest, £20k hatch around.
@@paggavanslaan4436 The B58 is a solid strong engine. Tuners heaven. But it is not way better. IMO the DAZA/DNWA is better then the B58. Especially sound-wise.
the thing I like about the rs3 (or at least your white one) is that they sound the way a sport car should. Red one sounds like its not feeling well tho from the outside, but from the inside it sounds amazing
Was half expecting a pre opf fl to appear half way around the video would’ve been the ultimate rs3 comparison video. Maybe on a follow up video? Why not? Right? Would give ya another reason to jump on another rs3.
Just curious, have you driven a pre-facelift / post-facelift S3? And if so, is there just as much differnce in those cars as there is in the RS models? I'm in Australia and shopping for a car now, with a max budget of around $50,000. The pre-facelift S3's are going for about $35,000 AUD, while the post-facelift S3 and pre-facelift RS3 are both ballpark around the $50,000 mark. What I'm wondering is, in your opinion: a) Is the post-facelift S3 worth the price jump over the pre-facelift model? b) If you had a choice betweenb a pre-facelift RS3 or a post-facelift S3 for the same price, which would you rather?
@6mt.s3 I did end up with a pre-facelift 2016 model S3. I haven't had a chance to drive a post facelift midel - I test drove the S3 and an SQ5 and loved both so much that it took me 2 weeks to decide which one to buy. Ended uo with an S3 DSG (hard to find manuals here) in my favourite blue colour with pretty much every option box ticked. Brilliant car! A lot of people criticise Audis for being dull, lifeless, etc. I dont get it. I've owned a twin turbo Subaru, an MX5 and an Alfa 147 GTA with the famed busso V6- all cars that are full of character. I When I drive the S3 I never find it boring or disinteresting to drive. The seats hold you in nicely. the steering wheel feels great in hand, it has a nice rorthy exhaust note, the gear shifts are quick, the steering rack is quick , it looks fantastic, and everything you touch feels like its been flawlessly overenginnered. If I had to pick a few things about the car that I don't love: 1. The car has a very coupe-like rooflilne and the seats have very chunky side bolsters, so if you're relatively tall (~6 foot) it can actually be a bit of an effort to get in and out of without hitting your head on the root. 2. The suspension, even in sport mode, has just a wee bit more bodyroll then I would like. It doesn't roll a lot by any means, but if it was maybe just 10%-15% flatter in corners then it would be perfect (easy enough to fix) 3. It's not particularly spacious -the front sport seats have a heavily curved back which eats quite a bit in to th already liited leg room, and the aformentioned low slung roof doesn't help - if you're a big dude then getting in and out of the back seat can be difficult. The boot/trunk also isn't super spacious. It's fine for shopping and the like, but if you need to move large bulky items like furniture, suitcases, et its a bit limitred. 4. The gear ratios in sport mode are ludicrious - the engine often sits up arud 3000-3500 RPM once you switch into sport mode, and it's unecessarily noisy. ?Yet if you dont have it in sports mode you do definitely notice the performance drop off. It's for many of these reasons that I ended up getting a Skoda Octavia RS245 through a work novated lease - I love the S3 in so many ways, but as a bigger guy (6'0" and aroudn 350 lbs) I found the S3 could be a bit annoying to live with as an every day car - it always feels like a bit of an effort tto get in and out of the car, and as an IT professional I often need to transport boxes od items to customers, which the S3 boot wasn't great for. The Octavia solved all of those practicality concerns and is an absolute dream as a daily driver while still fun enough to give it a bootful from time to time. But the Skoda it's a lot less charaterful then the S3. The engine/exhaust is practically silent, the Steeering is not as precise, the engine is more torquey down low but lacks that top end pull - but most of all you just dont get that big smile on your face when you walk away from it in a car park, or that sense of overwhelming satisfaction when you close a door, turn a knob, press a button, or sit your butt down on the seats. I've come to lean over the years that to me, those little thigns mean a lot. The growl of the exhaust, the feel/smell of the fine nappa leather, that nice solid thud you get when you close a door, the cold hard feel and tactile click of the metal knobs and handles. At the end of the day you can only go as fast on the road as the speed limit allows, and I've come dangerouslyl close to losing my license twice now so I need to drive extra careful these days. A car that "feels" secial drivign at the speed limit means more to me then a car that can do 0-100 in 4 seconds. The S3 is now my dedicated weekend car and I'm thiinkign long and hard about whether I keep it, ot whether I sell it and replace it with another car that's also capable of feeling special wwithout blowing by the speed limit. Aomething like an Audi S5 couple (wit the V8), an SQ5 ith the 3L TDI, or maybe something more letfield like an Abarth 595 or ND MX5.
@@pete3198 Thanks a lot for the detailed reply that is extremely helpful. Also a really interesting take on the S3 pre facelift with many things mentioned I wouldn’t have thought about. I currently have a 6MT S3 8P which I’ve owned for over 4 years, I would be considering buying another car as a daily in the next few years and debating whether a newer S3 would be a good choice. The 8P currently has about 225k kms and soon reliability is expected to take a hit. I’ve spent a lot of time in Australia and noticed that you guys seem to love your the S3/Golf Rs as they are everywhere! Now I get that it is for good reason. I guess we’d need to test drive these cars we’re considering. I also agree with your statement about Audis not being dull, I’ve never found that to be the case!
Picked my Daza RS3 up last week m8 and I have to say I'm underwhelmed by it, doesn't feel that quick and that 5 pot simply isn't loud enough. Stage 1 or 2 is a must for sure
Tbf I prefer the 2015 model it sees so ready when u buy it unlike the opf you have to upgrade the exhuast and other bits and bobs to make it more exciting but i wouldn't mind either proper dream car ill get one day 🙏
Nice video! Thanks! hamza...something interesting: the staggered wheel setup (from factory) you have from pirelli / conti..255 front (8.5J rim) and 235 rear (8J rim) is quite specific to the RS models...it must have the "R02" marking on them. if you go with another tyre manufacturer like Michelin Pilot Sport 4S...255 front and 235 rear..the haldex is totally confused and you have traction light kicking in under normal driving conditions. So what the guys do is to solve the issue is just to put the traction control light off permanently (this is not the correct way to fix it and puts a lot of strain on your haldex) - i believe the circumsfere is not correct with the non OEM R02 255/235 combo setup. When you compare the 235/35/19 Michelin PS4s with the Pirelli / Conti 255/30/19 R02....you will actaully see the 235 from Michelin is wider / just as wide. So what the guys do is..for better traction..better turning..a tyre that outlasts these "R02" tyres by mileage and performance by far....we go to a "square setup"...meaning...we go 235/30/19 all round with the Michelin PS4s. Perhaps you know this already, but thought I'll just share. Stay well & stay safe..regards from RSA.
You didn't explain the difference between the exhaust system ....what make the Rs3 8v P.F.L sound savage then the dull sounding Rs3 F.L please explain why
I know what you mean about the pre facelift steering wondering my m140i does the same at high speeds, I'm away to put m2/3or 4 lower front arms on it supposedly this helps.... but never heard anyone mention this in their reviews before I got it. Great review of the 2 cars, some interesting points I didn't know
Like the looks of the ore face lift, like the aluminum block on the new one, like the price on the PFL version too, lol!! Hama, you should do a pff filter removal and high flow cats with a Akropovic or Milltek axle back out on yojrs. Would sound so much meaner and better. You’d prob fall in love with the sound honestly.🔥🔥✌🏽
Great Vid mate! You are 100% right.... the handling make the confidence in the drive for sure and that is what forms a kind of human to machine bond or fusion. Hard to explain but I have the same feelin when riding performance bikes compared to harleys (and I love my harley) !!
Looking forward to some more RS3 content Hamza! I have a 2020 RS3 myself so I am very interested to see how your tuning goes with the OPF, or if you remove the OPF what parts you use..... #rs3 #supercarkiller #rallypedigree
I see you’ve gone stage 2 can’t wait to see the video when will it be shown I also have OPF and thinking stage 2 just for the sound as it’s way too quiet
I’m getting the new Audi rs3 when it comes out do you reckon it will be even more quiet than the 2020 one? and would there be a way to take the opf filter out? Love the videos aswell bro keep grinding ❤️
This may be a super odd request, but could you pretty please compare an RS3 to a GTR int he same way you are comparing these for driving style etc as I am stuck between the 2 options
I think someone is justifying there decision! At the end of the day rs3 is purely about the sound nothing else! There are better hatches than these around a track so if you aren’t buying it for the 5pot noise and pops then what’s the point. Also maybe get a wheel alignment I have driven both and steering barely noticeable that’s why I never traded up and probably won’t. New rs3 can not live up to the previous gen !death of an icon.
Loving this daily videos new video everyday not like do one video and wait for week na mashallah need a proper POV drive in b7 rs4 and what’s full spec of b7 rs4

Tbf I prefer the 2015 model it sees so ready when u buy it unlike the opf you have to upgrade the exhuast and other bits and bobs to make it more exciting but i wouldn't mind either proper dream car ill get one day 🙏
Which is more reliable? Daza or czgb?
Can the iron block take more boost compared to the Ali block?
Awesome content on an awesome sounding 5 pot👍
Youd think that but from what ive seen from the American high hp rs3 im sure they use the aluminium blocks
thy both can take big power but the aluminian block for light weight and its newer thats all.
Can someone confirm if the pre facelift 2015 model 8v comes with sports exhaust? Standard with the pops and bangs ? Are the tips black or chrome
Love your vids mate
Thank you mate!
Nice video! Thanks!
hamza...something interesting:
the staggered wheel setup (from factory) you have from pirelli / conti..255 front (8.5J rim) and 235 rear (8J rim) is quite specific to the RS models...it must have the "R02" marking on them.
if you go with another tyre manufacturer like Michelin Pilot Sport 4S...255 front and 235 rear..the haldex is totally confused and you have traction light kicking in under normal driving conditions.
Im pretty sure the difference in the two is more to do with the electronics in the steering and the revised tuning and bigger turbo!
and 26 kg's less up front because of the aluminium block in the facelift compared to iron in the pfl rs3 8v
Wow, very comprehensive explanations. Thank you!
I know what you mean about the pre facelift steering wondering my m140i does the same at high speeds, I'm away to put m2/3or 4 lower front arms on it supposedly this helps.... but never heard anyone mention this in their reviews before I got it. Great review of the 2 cars, some interesting points I didn't know
awesome as always bro
Since the market went mad the facelifts are still making near retail madness. Since I sold the M2c I’ve been waiting for these to drop…been a while 😂
Which one to buy 🤔 Difference is about 10% plus in 2nd hand pricing...
Awesome video spot on hamza👍
Looking forward to some more RS3 content Hamza! I have a 2020 RS3 myself so I am very interested to see how your tuning goes with the OPF, or if you remove the OPF what parts you use..... #rs3 #supercarkiller #rallypedigree
@tr hamza you got a road trip and can choose one car what you taking... B7 rs4 or your rs3
great video, your videos have improved a lot, subscribed MA BRO
Thank you bro 👌🏼
You are not talking what car will be more reliable over time, the one with aliminium or cast iron block....??
I see you’ve gone stage 2 can’t wait to see the video when will it be shown I also have OPF and thinking stage 2 just for the sound as it’s way too quiet
Keep up the amazing videos bro if possible could u do a pre OPF vs OPF rs3 video.
That red is fireeee, id have the wheels black where theyre grey though 😍😎
Great video, would like to know more about the engine update between CZGb vs DAZA Vs DNWA, can’t find much info online
is the 17/2018 rs3 better then the rs3 19/2020
What’s the difference between DAZA & DNWA
WHICH engine gives you better power and durability
What actually made you go with a new one?
“Key word is different” 😂😂😂
H&R or 034 rear ARB and the handling is vastly improved in the PFL. Just as good as my old Mk7 Golf R and much better sound 😂
Seems to be the go to mod on RS3's. It's well documented on the 8P too.
@@Bazgti250 I had the 034 on my 8p so it was the first thing I bought for my PFL, went for the H&R and it’s just as good but nearly half the price.
Honest reviewing.....👍
I mean there both audis...
Great review bud 👍
I’m getting the new Audi rs3 when it comes out do you reckon it will be even more quiet than the 2020 one? and would there be a way to take the opf filter out? Love the videos aswell bro keep grinding ❤️
your cars much nicer, even prefer the sound too tbh its just nice
This may be a super odd request, but could you pretty please compare an RS3 to a GTR int he same way you are comparing these for driving style etc as I am stuck between the 2 options
Any plans to get the opf removed?
Lovely video, very educational bro! What would you say is the loudest 2.0 tfsi exhaust? (Stock)
A45 2015 for sure
Still trying to work out what happened to the Civic. Gone over most video’s from the past 6 months and can’t see it. Must’ve missed one.
Big rust issues, need a better shell if I continue it
I think someone is justifying there decision! New rs3 can not live up to the previous gen !death of an icon.
it goes pretty fast around corners and the handling is more than good enough so not only the engine. the facelifted 8v is pretty sharp actually
Loving this daily videos new video everyday not like do one video and wait for week na mashallah need a proper POV drive in b7 rs4 and what’s full spec of b7 rs4
Do you get any wastegate rattle from any of the rs3’s?
Love the content. I’m personally looking to update to either an S3 or Golf R what one would you recommend?
Golf r more planted I believe
Golf R
S3, golfs are square and boxy
Golf r looks amazing
in looks the pre facelift look better
Hi Hamza! Did you do some break-in on your audi? I've taken a delivery of my own RS3 lately, and it's only 300 kms and I do not have a heart to push it like you. What did your advisor said in salon? In Poland they stated that they are already after break-in however in states people say that they are advised to do some break-in for like 1500km. What do you think about it?
Hi, I bought mine with 350 miles already on it, pushed it pretty much straight away. But general guide is 1000 miles if you want to be safe, I’ve never had issues with hard run in though in the past
What year did the opf come out 2020? Or 18
68 so end of 18 I think. Well the cupra is up to 18 so assuming all vag cars go up to 18
I just sold my PFL RS3. Am shopping for an F80 M3 for bigger rear seats but something in me wants to get the FL RS3.. Difficult decisions.
These are the old ones?
