I just got my first Winkler knife 4 days ago and it is truly outstanding. I got the Field Knife (5.75 in. blade) with the sculpted WASP micarta slabs (black & tan micarta) with the Winkler black leather sheath - what a beautiful knife! I have been collecting handmade and custom knives for 20+ years and the craftsmanship of this knife is second to none. As for value, the Field Knife and its sheath are worth every dollar of their asking price and then some. In my view, you cannot go wrong with one of Dan Winkler's world class knives.
I purchased a WINKLER UTILITY CRUSHER with sculpted maple handles, and I like it better than any knife even my WINKLER belt knife. The sculpted maple is just such a great grip. Have a great day
I have a WINKLER belt knife and WOW can I ever get that blade sharp.it lasts a long time he has a secret process with the heat treat . My absolutely favorite blade I EDC it. I saw my old neighbor who has been a NAVY SEAL for years said the WINKLER belt knife is what he used for years and was his favorite, and best knife. So I got one. I am so proud to wear this knife It is my favorite knife I ever had. It came sharp , but I can really put an edge on this knife I have had the knife for years, and I really got it down. It is like a new knife everytime I sharpen it .thank you WINKLER!!
I know there’s a lot of knife makers but Dan makes the best in my opinion. When you hand make knives for the most elite operators in the world you’ve made it.
I bought the large tribal belt knife and Drop point sculpted Crusher and next is the Wasp dagger...😁 Glad my cash went to an American made company 🇺🇸 and a seemingly humble individual. Almost thought about toor and bastinelli and others but said why stop a good thing. Im just a blue collar non paid to review knife lover, so take a chance on Winkler knives I did and im not regretting it.
He heat treats them to 60 HRC (Rockwell). I’ve heard many people say it has toughness & edge retention on par with CPM 3V at 60 HRC, but is much easier to sharpen. Hope that helps. Best wishes to you and your family. ✌️🇺🇸
While I liked the appearance of Winkler "Jager", and loved the sheath, the blade itself was disgustingly dull, I mean far duller than any $50.00 knife bought at Walmart!! For a knife that costs the better part of $400.00, I was truly disappointed. After spending hours on a Wicked Edge General Pro I was finally able to put a decent edge on it. So, I while I liked the look, (has a great online appearance) and the sheath is far superior to any other that I've seen, but the edge is the worst, it is absolutely terrible !!! Respects, Richard
I just got a Blue Ridge Hunter, my first Winkler Knife. I thought it was relatively dull, for the price point especially. Beautiful knife and sheath though.
Adding my second Winkler - a Drop Point Crusher with green micarta slabs - in five days on my birthday. It is a gift from my wife. Also, I have some unexpected cash inbound, so when that drops, I'll add my third Winkler to the mix. Hard to decide at the moment, but maybe a 4" Blue Ridge Hunter or a 4.5" Belt Knife...
A wife that supports a man’s knife addiction is truly a keeper! I wouldn’t let her get away! Congratulations Sir. Enjoy your great knives in good health buddy! By the way, your wife doesn’t happen to have a single sister dose she! Lol! Worth a shot right? Lol! My best wishes to you and your family.✌️🇺🇸
@@TheGoldenBear79 We had our 30th anniversary in May - I guess she's decided to keep me! Sad to say that there are no others like her at home looking for male companionship. My wife is a wise woman - she gets it that a man could bring home WAY worse than a world class knife...
@@allan4800 That’s a great response Sir! Congratulations on 30 years together! These days it’s downright heartwarming to hear someone celebrating a 30th anniversary! I’m wishing you both another happy, healthy 30+ years together! I’m not supposed to hear that you got a One of a kind lady there, but I figured I’d be dumb to not ask if she wasn’t the only one. And you are so right about what you could drag home, and I would even bet she has an appreciation for a good sharp knife. I tease my mom it’s her fault I’m a “knife nut” because she always took great care of her knives. They always got washed by hand, dried, and put back away as soon as she was done using it. Thanks to her I’ve never done things any differently. Knives don’t touch the bottom of the sink! Lol! She appreciated me learning to sharpen knives as much as I appreciated the meals she prepared with them. Thanks for your kind message. Enjoy your great knives and your wonderful wife even more! My congratulations and best wishes to both of you! ✌️🇺🇸
I can't stop thinking about Winkler Knive, and I just ordered one last week.♥️

At what angle do the blue ridge hunter is sharpened?
This is awesome!!!
Man, I want one so bad
Whom do you see as your customer?
Last knife I’ll ever need
exceptional knives, but horrible sharpening in the shop. I own three. Had to reprofile two in order to use them for cutting.
What? Seriously?
I don’t know about the sharpening On a belt like that good way to get a burnt edge. Also what is the HRC

Wow! I wonder if it was a QC oversight?
At what angle do you sharpen them? I am figuring out which angle as i do not want to guesswork.

Eagle eyed watchers will see Jack Carr's "James Reece" hatchets in the background.
